NARAL is in a tizzy. To be fair, if I believed that people should have the right to murder preborn humans, I’d be in a tizzy, too. Even among the mess that leftists and their sexual revolution have made of our society, the tide appears to be turning against abortion. The latest body-blow that fans of murdering the unborn are about to have to absorb comes from the great state of Tennessee. Looking to push the abortion debate before the United States Supreme Court, state lawmakers in Nashville are preparing a bill that would totally ban abortions in the state.
The news was first brought to my attention by a tweet from NARAL. Opening the tweet with the over-the-top warning “NOT A DRILL” bracketed by flashing emergency lights, NARAL complained, “Tennessee’s anti-choice politicians are currently moving to join Alabama in passing a TOTAL ban on abortion. This a direct threat to Roe—and to women’s lives.”

The abortion activist organization’s tweet is halfway correct: Tennessee will most likely join Alabama in the fight to save the lives of the unborn. Likewise, NARAL’s assessment that this is a threat to Roe is also on the nose. And, to that, I give my hearty amen. The rest of the tweet, of course, is pure NARAL propaganda nonsense. No, these aren’t “anti-choice” politicians pushing the bill. That would be like saying that those of us opposed to people killing their baby that’s lived a mere three hours outside the mother’s uterus are “anti-choice.” I realize that Peter Singer and a growing segment of the pro-abortion crowd are all about infanticide, but still, not “anti-choice.” Just, anti-murder.
Another misnomer, shall we say, located in NARAL’s tweet is the statement that this bill will threaten the lives of women. For starters, the female babies still living inside their mother’s uterus would disagree. For another thing, the myth that large numbers of women died from illegal abortions prior to Roe v. Wade has been roundly debunked, as this article from Live Action bears out. Even if it were true, that wouldn’t justify our society sanctioning the murder of preborn humans.
NARAL’s hissy fit is evidence that the pro-abortion crowd is worried. And they should be. CBS News reports that the committee working on the Tennessee bill should have it ready for a vote in January 2020. And, as NARAL understands:
[State Senator Kerry] Roberts told CBS News the intention of Tennessee’s amended abortion bill isn’t to immediately cut off access to the procedure. The point is to provide a legal challenge to Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood v. Casey and other Supreme Court precedent.
Emboldened by a conservative SCOTUS and the changing views on abortion among Americans, pro-life activists are working hard to protect preborn humans. For the first time in decades, overturning Roe v. Wade is a real possibility. Tennessee’s bill may very well be the final blow that topples legal abortion in this country.
