Leviathan and Obama’s Win
The only thing I can say good about tonight is I am going to keep selling a lot of copies my book Injustice. But I’d gladly trade having a New York Times bestseller for a president who respects the Rule of Law.
One wonders how Romney lost this election. Unemployment and gas prices were up. Respect for American power was down. There are probably many plays which should have been called differently, but others will sort that out.
So what happens next? The Founders gave us a Constitutional architecture which was designed to delay the arrival of demagogues. And make no mistake about it, Obama is a demagogue. He has totalitarian tendencies which manifest over and over and over again. Whether attacking religious liberty, or secured Chrysler bondholders, this man comes from a worldview distinctly un-American.
Thankfully the Constitution still is operative. Some of the liberties the Founders secured are still ours to treasure. The press remains free. We can still assemble. And I suspect after tonight, gun ownership will substantially increase.
But another part of our Constitutional architecture provides solace tonight – the 10th Amendment. Sure, we’ve heard the 10th thrown about for years. But tonight it ripened. Whatever powers aren’t given to the federal government, it doesn’t have. And the states are empowered to push back against federal power.







“A Republic, madam, if you can keep it.”
We now know the expiration date on that statement.
It is today.
We have just committed national suicide.
Similar sentiments are resounding ALL over Israel, from each quarter I am tuning into.

No one who was paying attention wonders that. There have been plenty of people trying to tell folks that Romney was an incredibly WEAK and ineffectual candidate. During the primary, his biggest argument for getting the nomination was that he was inevitable. And his biggest argument for the general election was similar with “at least I’m not Obama.”
So Romney had some event planning experience in Salt Lake City — BFD. And he was governor for one term — BFD. And he ran a business — BFD.
That’s it. That and a Dukaksisesque campaign of “competence, not ideology.” A campaign devoid of any sense of urgency, insisting that there was “no need to set our hair on fire” getting worked up about anything, repeatedly telling folks that Obama was a nice guy (but in over his head) and that we are in a recovery (even if it is weak).
Romney was a walking disaster from Day One. A gross combination of Dole, McCain, Gore, and Kerry — a bad candidate who ran a bad campaign. A campaign full of elite arrogance to be sure, but a disasterous establishment campaign.
This is no surprise.

We can agree that Mitt was a weak candidate, Ronald Reagan would have lost this time. We expected Obama to have a weaker ground game this time, but it was up from 2008.
We must face the fact that it wasn’t that people were fooled by Obama in 2008. They know who he is and like his policies. America has changed. That change is continuing. We have to face the new reality.
We do have 30 republican governors now. Don’t know if they can win the 10th amendment fight. Now we will see how long Obama can blame his inheritance.

and I have to differ with you in your assessment. Newt Gingrich is perhaps
the smartest, politically advanced member in both partys, if you follow. There
is not any of the 535 congressionals nor the members of the Supreme Court that
maintain the wherewithal to thoroughly comprehend the mentality of the
Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians, and the North Koreans (the Axis-of-Evil),
and in Reaganesk respect, not cater to the rogues on this planet. Newt would
not have played the cautious game that Romney played. After over 30 years
experience in Washington, D.C., Newt knows where all the skeletons lie and he
therefore is not one that shuns a good political fight. Newt may be many

Attorney General, and now this caper with “BENGHAZI,” that this Moron has
lied continuously, compounding the evidence against both Holder and the Moron,
if you follow. Then, we Americans have to put up with the Communist, David
Axelrod whom reminds me greatly of Adolf Hitler; Valerie Jarrett whom advises
the Moron (how does she maintain any political authority in the White House,
let alone that the Moron does not fart unless Jarrett approves it; what is her
title and from what source does she exert authority over the Moron?); then
there is the Hillary Clinton’s private secretary, Huma Abedin whose family
are still followers of “THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD.” I mention these other

Filibuster option is still on the table, though I’m not sure with collaborators like McCain and Graham it can be made to stick. Gang of X could sink our chances of obstructing the Senate, which combined with control of the House is the only way to twist Obama’s arm. Of course, Boehner has shown himself to be a mealy-mouthed buffoon that can’t be relied upon when the chips are down. With friends like these, who needs Obama? We are beset on all sides by ruthless enemies and fair-weather friends; if there is any solace in all of this it is that it will exacerbate the unsustainable debt crisis and perhaps end it sooner. The nice thing about an unsustainable circumstance is that by its very nature it cannot continue in perpetuity. The bleeding will stop sooner or later, but will it be because we’ve run out of blood?
Hopefully the remaining conservative justices on the court will decide to retain their positions for another four years and Roberts fixes his cranial-rectal inversion. It’s entirely possible that the ‘moderate’ on the court can be roused to defend the Constitution and it seems that Kennedy is increasingly our man despite Roberts’ defections.
With or without the court as an ally Obama will ceaselessly expand the government through the bureaucracy and the cooperation of the Congress when he can dupe them into it. If there’s anything the Republicans have shown in recent years it is that they can be led by the carrot and stick to make unfavorable compromises even under majority conditions. Hopefully they will be a cohesive force of resistance.
At any rate, when in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands that have connected them with another…

The Roberts Obamacare decision demonstrated that first and foremost, the Supreme Court is one third of the Federal Government. We truly are deluded if we think anyone so ensconced in such power would do anything to diminish that power.
No branch can be trusted to reduce the Federal government’s power in favor of the states or the people.

I think you’ve hinted at exactly the next move for liberty–not secession, but nullification. Obama has promulgated regulations beyond the legitimate scope of executive power in three areas: energy/environment, immigration, and healthcare. There are deep red states that will dispute the legitimacy of these regulations that usurp the legislative branch and state power, and which will refuse to comply.
And which will be stomped on by our national (no longer federal) government with the full blessings of the Supreme Court. The states could not prevent the DEA from closing medical marijuana clinics. The states could not arrest illegal immigrants unless given the OK by ICE. What do you think will happen when states refuse to establish ObamaCare-mandated insurance centers? They will be forced to do so, and a state that doesn’t play-along will lose all federal funds. If that doesn’t get compliance, then more extreme measures will follow.
Expecting states to fight for their sovereignty is a pipe-dream.
Fight? No, Texas and similar states will not fight. I expect we will bide our time, survive the inevitable breakdown of federal power due to economic issues, and then quietly pick up the pieces. The end result could be an increase in state sovereignty.

Actually it wasn’t their philosophy- it flowed from Old Europe, mostly France and GB. And asking what the “Founders” would think is to my mind silly and wholly inaccurate. With the exception of, eventually, breaking free from GB, they were not in any way shape or form united in their thinking about almost any matter. Hamilton wanted a Monarchy. TJ wanted a sleepy agrarian republic (that would have done well against our enemies). The unified theory of founding fathers is a myth and a lie, as anyone who has ever studied the subject would know.

They’d ask, in our quest for universal suffrage, why we haven’t yet given the vote to children. There are many smart women out there; I contributed to some of their campaigns. But the demographic as a whole is profoundly stupid. The Constitution, The Declaaration of Independence, and The Bill of Rights could not have been written if the women’s vote had had a say in it.

As one who predicted 300 plus EV for Romney, I’m sitting here and chewing on some of those words. Having done some serious volunteering this election, this is a bitter pill and was not for the lack of trying.
But now I’m truly concerned for the future of our kids and grand-kids and I fear we’re entering totally unchartered waters… as a family and as a nation.
God help us all.
It’s readily apparent that dark times are upon us. We don’t know what to do when our brothers appear to be choosing a socialist suicide.
But I have kids to feed and give a future to. What can I do? Give up?

We have some very dark times coming. I don’t know everything we should do. But this I do know: if we want our kids to have a future, we’re going to have to fight for it. All I can think of is this:

It’s time for many of us to vote with our feet. I was lucky. I got out of California when I was just starting out. I ended up in a red state and I have a job.
What I won’t touch:
Student loans
Useless education
States that demand to teach my kids what is right and wrong
Welfare
Food stamps
What I’m going to work on:
Improving my trade skills. The trades are always in demand in hard times (and they’re coming).
Getting out of debt.
Getting what family I can out of the blue states.
Being charitable to those around me.
Prayer
Scripture study
Feeling the love of God and Jesus Christ, and trusting in them.
Becoming more like Job. Job 13:15 “Though He slay me, I will hope in Him.”

However, the HHS mandate that Obama and Sebelius are trying to ram down our throats is only the first assault on religious freedom in the U.S. I won’t be surprised when, four or five years from now, the Bible becomes a banned book, and we will be forced to worship in secrecy.

The Republicans have tried to pass voter verification laws such as IDs at the polling places, and they have been taken to court on every one of them. Sometimes State level judges rule in their favor and when they do, the Justice Department files discrimination suits to block implementation. The fix is already in on elections and we can’t do anything to stop them. We are witnessing the acceleration of the fall of the greatest nation the world has ever known. I totally agree with the fiscal view of financial responsibility but when you couple that with the additional divisive narrative that the president is not American, not one of us, or not a Christian, all you have accomplished is to completely muddled your message and discredited your movement. Asking the first black president to prove his American birthright and Christian belief does not help your movement’s cause in any way, shape, or form. Yet you were so willing to vote for a Mormon president, a faith that Christianity completely abhor. All it manages to do is to completely destroy your cause. So in my view, the Tea Party movement will fall and as long as the Republican Party bends to their will, so shall the Republican Party fall. O 47,282,944. In the electorial college the democrats have a comanding lead, but in the popular vote I certainly don’t see a mandate for socialism.

Obama – 56,339,370 and still counting
Romney – 54,863,392 and still counting
Difference – Obama +1,475,978
That means only a few more than 700,000 votes needed to be misread.
There was no mandate for socialism in 2008, either. That didn’t stop Obama then and it sure won’t stop him now.

Being a Republican previously allows me to clearly see the hypocrisy of this party. You have a party that is so concerned about debt yet is willing to support a 20% across the board tax cut for the entire country in the worst economic time since the Great Depression. You also have a party that is so concerned about minimizing the size of government and making sure that government stays out of our everyday lives yet want to control women’s rights on the decisions of their reproductive systems and want to control the definition of marriage in this country. One only needs to look to California to see where this nation is headed. Romney. or any candidate that the Republicans could have put up, constituted a threat to the sweet song of socialism. That’s exactly why Obama has won. His victory is simply a manifestation of what a majority of your fellow citizens wish for. A free ride at the expense of others. Utopia. Romney didn’t promise that so he lost. Sad to say we are surrounded by grifters who could care less about our founding principles about which they are totally ignorant. They want Santa Claus so they re-elected him. The miracle and beauty of the Declaration and the Constitution. Who cares? Just don’t screw with my entitlements and benefits. That describes the mentality and mindset of most of our fellow citizens (soon to willingly be subjects) so accept it. They won. The Brits have learned to live with this reality. So will we. As a conservative in California, I dread the day this state becomes ‘too big to fail’. We deserve to go bankrupt. Obama will almost certainly push for a bailout, and other blue states will follow clamoring for bailouts of their own. What the political mood will be in this country when that shoe drops, one can only guess. If that doesn’t push more Americans to snap out of their daze I don’t know what will short of a dollar collapse.
I think there are lessons to be learned from Australia for the GOP. In Australia and under our constitution we have strong State governments and an overriding Federal Government much the same as you do in the US. In at least one of our States, New South Wales, we had a Labor (Socialist/union dominated) government for nearly 20 years. During that 20 years this government learned how to stay in power despite a level of incompetence that was staggering. Their formula was simple: keep making promises, keep demonising the opposition. It worked even when the promises were made for the 3rd or 4th time. In the end the electorate worked them out and even the press lost faith. When they were finally defeated it was by a party led by a man who is plainly just an efficient bureaucrat who makes no promises and just works hard. But it took a long time to make the change and a great deal of damage was done to the State in the meantime.
At the Federal level we have a Labor government and a PM who have borrowed all the tactics of the NSW State Labor government and so far are serving them well. I could say that Obama and the Democrats are using the same playbook. Our history shows that the ordinary voter will vote for the good of the State if the opposition consistently focuses on their lack of performance. During your GOP primaries you tend to focus inwardly. Your party needs to focus for 4 whole years on being a loyal opposition and loyal means holding the blowtorch to the feet of the President.

Romney lost because he was a weak candidate. I’m glad he did. Eight years of Romney? EIGHT? Obama is not going to be able to do much, and after two years, once the next campaign starts ramping up, his effectiveness is over. We can survive two years or so — and the House and Senate aren’t going to give him their loyalty this time around. They have their own arses to worry about.
So start thinking seriously about 2016. Figure out a way to get the Latino vote back. Figure out a way to not squick women the hell out with your crackhead theories about rape and pregnancy. Figure out how to appeal to young voters.

As I sit here in Lima and contemplate the wreckage of an election that could have been won, I think back to the memories of elections past. I never had the feeling of emptiness that courses through me now. How is it possible that a combination of a hurricane, a press cover-up of criminal negligence(Benghazi) and a dumbed-down populace(with an assist from Gary Johnson)could do such harm to so many of us who love our country.
To bring us back me will need a leader with a mix of Ronald Reagan and St.Ignatius de Loyola. Who he or she is or if such a person exists only time will tell.
I’ll have more to say tomorrow on various sites, but I make a living by being right, and do not feel very good about it tonight. It’s deeply spiritual for me. I make no claim to know what God is up to, but I do study the Bible and I pretty much bet everything I have that Pres Obama would win tonight. I’ve been saying it for a couple of yrs now.

I expect The Constitution to be a memory in the not too distant future. It was not written for who we have become.
There was a time when I would have scoffed at the suggestion as hyperpartisan melodrama, but I admit the thought that this might be God’s judgement on our nation crossed my mind more than once tonight.
Those who have turned their backs on the spiritual underpinnings of our civilization claim to live by reason, so how do they rationalize re-electing a government that has put us 16,000,000,000,000 dollars in debt? We don’t even have a plan for how to survive without borrowing more, let alone pay it back.
While I am not sure I would go so far as to say it is God’s judgment.
I will say that God will often give you what you think you want, even if it isn’t what you need and let you learn the hard way that what you thought you wanted isn’t what was best for you.
Countless examples of this in the Bible.
I am rather sad and rather pessimistic at the moment about the future of my country, because Obama and the liberals who voted for him really do believe there is a magic money tree in DC. They fail to realize there aren’t enough rich people to support this kind of spending.
I am also curious to see what those in the coal industry do in 2 or 4 years when Obama has essentially crippled their jobs.
The coal industry was essentially killed in the UK and all the blame was put at Thatcher’s feet. Obama is killing coal in the US and the media yawns as our energy prices sky rocket.

And here you have what is really at the core of liberal consciousness- severe white guilt and hate for whites and white culture, particularly white males. Your analysis of this evening’s event (tragedy) and the president elect are perfect. I fear, however, that our problems are so outsized, the debt in particular, that events and the world will overwhelm us before our house can be returned to order. States rights have been nullified and struck down so often in recent years by a virtually meaningless judiciary as to be inconsequential. It’s difficult to disagree with the most pessimistic responses to your column. It is a sad night. They are celebrating tonight in many places elsewhere in the world. And there must certainly be much very quiet despair, as well.

So if Obama attempts to impose federal regulations on states (eg, school curriculum) how likely is it that states will refuse to go along and take the matter to court or simply ignore the edicts?
Well, Bush the Lesser’s idiotic “Real ID Act” is effectively a dead letter because fully 1/2 of the states have refused to go along with it.
When Utah threatened to refuse NCLB Act funding, Bush sent his education secretary to Salt Lake City, hat in hand, to beg the legislature to change its mind.
Way back in 1999 Prof. Walter E. Williams proposed state tax escrow funds, where all federal taxes would be deposited before being periodically sent to Washington. If the feds threatened to withhold funding for highways or whatever, the state would simply hold back that same amount from the next escrow check. If necessary, the state would simply keep all of that money.
There are now 30 GOP governors. They need to realize the power they and their legislatures have to check the federal government — if they also have the courage to use it. That means backing up nullification laws with criminal sanctions against federal agents. The feds are like neighborhood bullies — they count on everyone else being afraid of them, then scurry away like the cowards they really are when someone stands up to them.

The endgame for Earth is an almost complete depopulation of the planet due to humanity’s stupidity and immorality. Regardless of who won this election, what the tax rates are next year, whether the price of gas or gold or the value of the dollar goes up or down, etc. etc. The election of one guy over the other, at best, would’ve delayed this end. Before this night’s election results, I prayed to God for a “Josiah period” and a delay of his wrath. After tonight, I doubt it’s a prayer he’ll answer.
The best thing you can do for yourself, your family and your neighbors tonight is forget about elections, revolutions and civil wars and focus on what is the best way to act and prepare in a pre-Isaiah 24 world . . . on the eternal things that transcend all the Titanic deck-chair rearrangement that’s been going on.

Obama’s resume consist of only red flags, both McCain and Romney were men of outstanding performance. If they cannot defeat an obvious whack job like Obama then it is all over for the American electorate. Once freedoms are lose under the guise of social justice they are almost impossible to regain. The liberal narrative, which panders to identity by positing those identities have serious enemies, has great traction for those who consider themselves victims, and those who feel some share of guilt or compassion for those victims.
That narrative flows almost unchallenged through our popular arts, the news media and educational systems. The narrative is spun and there is little to unspin it, other than counterweights, almost entirely in some conservative-leaning news outlets, which are far outnumbered by their liberal counterparts. Only one, Fox News, comes close to being mainstreamed. There is no such conservative counterweight in the arts/entertainment world or education system.
Politically, one could say the Dems were in a deep hole. Socially however, they were bailed out by the liberal narrative which suffuses our culture, and which is there regardless of whether a Rep or Dem is President or who controls the House and Senate. It is that social face that made up the difference for Obama and the Dems failures, not only in the last four years, but the last 40. That social aspect made up even ground to make the popular vote a tie, but the electoral vote far different, since liberalism is huddled around large populations.
Romney was not just up against a politician and his record, but against an extra component that is difficult to fight since it has emerged slowly, and over many years. It was the GOP vs DEM + arts, education and news. That’s how failure wins. Failure is hidden by a narrative; propaganda really if you think about it.
It is that extra component, raw, identity-based political correctness that rules on a national level. At least enough to cover DEM failure and what should have been a landslide on a political level for the GOP, into a virtual tie, and EV win for Obama. America is evenly split, but the DEMS have the right states and the means to delude their followers that failure is success. Women, Hispanics and blacks will continue to vote DEM, because they know DEMS will continue to shove gifts at their identity, and say, “there, there.”
PC created and has sustained illegal and legal immigration, and undone America in a way so profound, a tipping point has been reached that we can never turn back from as long as identity politics are in play; and they will be. Why not – it works.
Your post begs the question, if FOX News, conservative radio, and conservative books can be such commercial successes, why are there no business plans to erect a conservative media empire, including TV/cable, movies, and music? Any movie with a good plot can succeed at the box-office. It doesn’t have to have the obligatory liberal sub-plots that infect nearly all of Hollywood’s output for the last 40 years. And as for music, I don’t mean Christian rock- I simply mean less vulgar, racially slanted hip hop. I turned on Fox News when the polls first closed on the east coast, already they were talking a Romney defeat. Going by what was said, we liked Obama and Christe on the beach and abortion and contraceptives. I do not know if that analysis is true or if it will hold up.

Obama won and America lost. The country has been in decline for several decades. Now the decline goes into higher gear. Mitt is a decent man and could have made a positive difference but he’s not a great campaigner. The 10th Amendment does not lend itself to the sort of corrupt interpretation that the Commerce Clause does. States retain power, period.

The Tenth Amendment, in saying “the states or the people” without identifying the people as the pre-eminent sovereign, opened the door to the modern conservative localism fetish, which falsely reframes the battle as being between governments, rather than between the individual (the people) and the government. While the Founders remain the pinnacle of human political development, there remained flaws and errors in their work, and this is one of them.
This corruption is akin to that of the post-Enlightenment continental European mainstream, which substituted national self-determination for individual self-determination in the nineteenth century, leading to the rise of the twentieth century totalitarianisms -and if not checked, will lead to similar ends (as Victor Davis Hanson recently mused, probably on the feudal pattern, where authority was highly localized.)
Most of the brave men and women defending our country did not get to vote.

What is the way back? That’s the question we need to ask.
It’s not over for America, or conservatism. We have a majority of governorships and the House. Even though we’re a minority, there’s still a strong remnant of Americanism and conservatism in this country.
But I admit things look dire. And not from this re-election. This election is a symptom of a far deeper problem, and one that was not going to be solved with a Romney victory. Romney, I think, would have been an excellent president. Possibly the best man I’ve seen lose a presidential election. He offered his services to help, and lost. OK, fine. But the deeper problem is cultural, and we need to win on the cultural level. That is not something that happens overnight.
The first key, when the emoting is over, is to brutally look the truth in the eye, without being tendentious or mis-characterizing what has happened or our opponents. I’m not exactly sure where we need to go, but I know we need to look at exactly what’s happened. If we get it wrong, we’re not going to be effective. I do agree that things are dire right now, and that this is a crossover into a desire for at best European-style socialism, and at worst, Latin America-style socialism. The country has changed, fundamentally. Even two decades ago, none of this nonsense would have been tolerated. Fine, we’ll need to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves, which is what we should have been all along.
The second is to not fear. Do not fear. They can only do so much to us. For those of us with faith, we can take comfort from that. But no matter your spiritual beliefs, do not give yourself thoughts that will cause you to suffer more. One thing we can do is not torment ourselves or each other.
The third key is no rash talk of civil war, secession, or civil unrest. We still have a Republic. It’s strong enough to withstand Obama. I agree it’s being tested right now. Hyper-partisanship is not helping.
It’s only after we’ve determined where the real problems are, and what we can do about it, either personally or politically, that we can move forward.
One issue is our cultural resources. We don’t have the left’s resources. The left’s long march through the institutions have taken their toll. So has an unrestrained, destructive entertainment culture. And so has technological changes which change how we think. A similar long march — I’m not sure that’s possible for us.
But we conservatives have a huge advantage that we often overlook — and don’t freak out — but our opponents often agree with us more often than they think, and we think. There is a massive remnant of conservatism within our very opponents’ culture. That is what I mean by wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
I live a red county in a blue state, but travel to one of the blue counties, and one of my clients has a workforce that is bluest-of-blue. In our political discussions, which are frequent, both my client’s employees and I have discovered vast areas of common ground. There is a conservative streak a mile wide within our cognitive elite, within the opinion makers. Because they LIVE like conservatives. We are not two nations, yet. It requires a lot of patience — both groups here suffered epistemic closure.
We need to end our epistemic closure, for those to whom that applies. I have found, if I’m willing to suffer casual insults about Republicans and conservatives, that I can do some pretty darned good concern trolling among them and draw out their conservative instincts. But you have to get past labels and you need to be able to articulate conservative arguments and/or translate their liberal arguments into conservative ones.
Right now, though, the key is to not over-catastrophize. In the meantime, yes, this is a like a punch in the gut. I’m not minimizing. But coming back is going to require some hard thinking and considerable cleverness. And maturity.

Great deeds were done by our national heroes, but they lived back in a time where people actually READ things, and THOUGHT deeply about things, and didn’t check with the latest poll before deciding their own opinions. Those who disagreed with certain pressure groups or powerful people didn’t have to worry about being called vile names, and having their reputations shredded all over the world via Twitter and Facebook,and on cable TV “news” shows. I once sent an account of my being sexually assaulted by a bi racial group of lesbians when I was in the Army to Elaine Donnelly of the Council on Military Readiness to be used in a hearing in Congress over homosexuals in the military,this was about 3 years ago. The principle of “Checks and Balances” may not work with a dishonorable man in the Oval Office. I think Obama will see the House as a bump in the road as he forges ahead in his desire to remake us. I also think Axelrod and Holder will spend the next four years making sure that a Republican never again occupies the Oval Office.
This election does represent the success of a demagogue, hopefully temporary. But I suspect this speaks to deeper concerns over the evolution of our society.
A democracy (i.e. a constitutional republic) is a political framework constructed specifically to prevent the rise of tyranny. It is easy to claim that this is achieved by the constitutional enumeration of rights and the limitation of powers, but that is only the beginning. Tyranny can only be held back by the exercise of comprehensive, universal accountability over government. While the text of the constitution represents the blueprint for our edifice of democracy, the toolkit for building and maintaining that edifice is composed of all the various means for holding the government accountable.
Look to the Bill of Rights: the first amendment speaks to powerful forms of accountability. Freedom of the press: discovery of governmental malfeasance is a first step towards accountability, reporting on that discovery is the next. Freedom of speech and peaceful assembly: the third step of the process, allowing a free people to achieve a consensus regarding that malfeasance. The process then can be closed by the vote, court action, or legislative action. Regardless, without accountability, all the fine words of the Constitution are hollow.
Tyranny may rise overtly in a few stages, easily opposable by a watchful people, or it may creep forward in a thousand silent footsteps only prevented by continued vigilance enabled by a far-reaching and robust accountability. It follows that those governmental actions that thwart accountability abet the rise of tyranny. THAT WHICH FRUSTRATES ACCOUNTABILITY ABETS TYRANNY, warranting the epithet of “tyrannism.” One who engages in such actions is a “tyrannist.”
This then is the touchstone – to identify those actions that frustrate accountability. Decisions arrived at behind closed doors in the dark of night are tyrannism. Decisions forced precipitously, prohibiting reasoned evaluation are tyrannism. Decisions conveyed as endless, incomprehensible documents are tyrannism. Decisions made by unelected, untouchable bureaucrats are tyrannism. (Yes, – tyrannism, thy name is Obamacare).
In a free society, an accusation of tyrannism should be held as the deepest insult. And tyrannists should deserve universal denunciation. Only by requiring our government to abide by and enable complete accountability and by our adopting a culture esteeming accountability can our nation remain a beacon of freedom in a world increasingly beset by darkness.
I think the Founders would look at that joke Romney and Boner saying he’s going to toady up to Obama and Reid, and spit in our faces. They’d say: “These are what you called Conservatives? Protectors of the Constitution we gave you and the Values that made this nation great?” Then they’d turn their backs on us, fart, and walk away forever.

America died on November 6, 2012. Whether through ignorance, fear, greed or by express intention the American people have thrown the Constitution under the bus. They have chosen the soft despotism of the bureaucratic welfare state over liberty, serfdom over the rigors of a free, self-reliant life, free birth control pills over religious liberty, craven submission to our enemies over free speech.
There is no going back. Historians will be busy with the autopsy for a long time. Catastrophe may cause this new order to collapse, the forces of technology and global markets may make it irrelevant; but if there is a path to the restoration of America I don’t see it anywhere.
THE government is no longer MY government. It is an alien force which I live with like the weather. Its laws are no longer my laws. I obey them out of fear and self-interest rather than a sense of moral obligation.
I look back at Romney’s candidacy. He is a decent man. Our last hope was that he could float into the presidency on the people’s frustrations and lead America back from catastrophe. He might have gotten elected with a different campaign. But I doubt that his presidency would have succeeded. America is no longer an exceptional nation because Americans are no longer an exceptional people.
We are left with rear guard actions aimed at deflecting or deferring assaults on what remains of our freedoms.
Time to knuckle down and commence with working on the State Level.

I think that quite a few of them might say, “Righteous and true are Your judgements, O LORD.” We have chosen the course of national destruction, and they probably would add, “You deserve everything that is about to happen to you, you fools”.
And “Atlas Shrugged” becomes a history book instead of a precient novel.

However, I offer some views/predictions based on what happened in third world countries before you, and therefore are indicators of what could happen to America.
1.- Welfare State collapses? Maybe, but in a very very long term, Before they can open their eyes and see the system is broken, there will be hundreds of scapegoats to blame: Congress for instance, therefore, prepare for the tyrant backlash against Congress next time round. It took like 70 years for the URSS to collapse, not 4 more years, yet, after that, people still don’t see it as the cause or part of the cause of collapse. Those were 70 years of scapegoating too.
2. Will Atlas Shrug? Yes, Atlas (the creative and economy movers and shakers) will shrug, but at very slowly rate. They shrugged in Venezuela, the economy went down quickly, yet the tyrant is still there. Where Atlas will go? Well, they used to flee to the United States.
3. Thinking about emigration? Don’t fool your self. The rest of the world is WORSE than America. They were openly cheering and cheerleading Obama all the time, with their broken healthcare and higher taxation and regulation. The fight will have to be in America, there is no other place to go. 4. Are there other ways to solve this mess? Yes, but it won’t be pretty. We need a new War of Independence (Secession, Revolution, whatever), the place that can lead re this is Texas. But it will have to be PRINCIPLED from the beginning. It shouldn’t be a “revolution” because the economy is on a ditch, or because we want to abort -or not to abort, the whole day. A new Constitution summing up what we know, and trimming what we know is not good, should be elaborated. A memorial explaining all the things government made against the individual would be helpful too.
5. We have to be vocal. We need to protest all the way, voice our opposition and rally the people, they will see our commitment to principles, and will see the economic mess and will come. We are not good at “marching through institutions”. We are good at revolutions tho.
6. The Army In the worst case, the Army will try to defend the system (look at Syria, they split ranks with the regime ONLY when regime is totally crumbling), so even when they can be sympathetic to “Freedom”, don’t expect them to join a revolution. This can change, however, if it’s made clear your revolution is in favor of the current Constitution. A “back to the basics” movement.
7. We accepted bad premises: that we are a democracy. We are not… or never intended to be. Once you accept that false premise, you accepted to play their game, and their game is rigged. This time round, they were openly stealing in front of your eyes (black panthers, posters in polling places, and G’d knows what else is still covered). All the while the POTUS is ruling by executive edicts (and the Congress not doing his long overdue job of opposition/impeachments etc).
8. Great minds in the world were still acting the fool, from the Gop leaders to Netanyahu; thinking this was a civilized thing. The ones that knew how deep in problems we are, were labeled crazy nuts and treated as enemies (from Ayn Rand to Ron Paul) and they are still unliked by tons of right wing pundits (living under the democracy premises about voting and popularity, etc).
9. I want to put emphasis on: don’t count on collapse. Not going to happen. Immigration of people still looking for freedom, hard working and productive, won’t let it happen quick enough. Those minds should be welcome anyway.

Dream on. The election last night proved once and for all that we’ve hit a tipping point and that now the majority of Americans (even if it is a thin majority) have no problems with the United States turning into a European-style welfare state. Americans now have no problems turning into France, Spain, Italy, or Greece. Especially Greece, which is now bankrupt, along with Spain and Portugal. Americans have decided that we can continue spending money like there is no tomorrow, even though Greece proves that tomorrow eventually DOES come.
Always remember that Obamacare was on this ballot just as much as Obama was. And the American public knew that if Obama was re-elected there would be absolutely no chance of repealing Obamacare. And the Supreme Court said as much. The Supreme Court said that if we wanted to repeal Obamacare, don’t look at the court for help. We would have to win an election, and we did not.
So, like the now defunct Newsweek said years ago, “We are all socialists now.” Well, at least 50% of us are. As for the other 50%, we’re the ones that get stuck with the bill. And when the money runs out, as in Greece and Spain, and you have hungry people, sky-high taxes, massive unemployment (20% in Spain, higher in Greece), and riots in the streets, then I wonder what will become of this nation? Will we survive, or will there be civil unrest on a scale not seen in this country since the 1968 riots that burnt a lot of this nation down?
Oh, and by the way, remember that video of Romney saying that roughly 47% of the public was going to vote for Obama no matter what? Remember when he said that roughly 47% of the public was getting “free” stuff from the government and that now there was now no incentive for them to stop the entitlement mentality? Well, I guess he was proved right. And now America will have to live with that for four long years. I just hope there’s something left of this country after that.
Three suggestions for the future:
1. Convince the GOP to let the primaries work without undue meddling. Everyone tried to tell the “Establishment GOP” that they didn’t like Romney, but nooooooo, they know better than us stupid voters, don’t they? Media meddling isn’t just a Democratic problem. Mitt didn’t win the primaries fair and square, he won because the Establishment destroyed any candidate who dared to challenge him (and personally I wonder if other – maybe even the best – potential candidates knew better than to even attempt a run, when it was obvious that the GOP had already chosen their preferred darling).
2. Do something about media meddling. Whether it’s peddling goods or ideas, any free market needs accurate information to operate properly.
3. Do something to reverse the astonishing lack of civics education in this nation. Fifteen or so years ago I watched teachers marching schoolkids around the yard, holding left wing protest signs and singing “We Will Overcome”. This is what schoolkids are being taught in the spot where “civics” is supposed to go. Lack of education (and mis-education, or anti-education indoctrination if you prefer) is a real problem for conservative values.
4A. Do something to make those “social conservatives are dragging down the party” people understand the link between social and fiscal issues. Broken families are what makes the entitlement state desirable and necessary. People from intact, healthy families vote conservative. People who are raised in broken and/or unhealthy families are terrified of conservative values, because broken, dysfunctional families = broken, dysfunctional electorate. The more families break, the more people need government help getting by.
Think about it: conservative values require people capable of entering into healthy relationships. Conservative values require strong people and strong relationships. Conservative values require healthy boundaries, self-confidence, the capacity for trust (and the ability to know when, where, and how to trust wisely), and other important traits that are at the heart of what social conservatives are fighting for. Without these traits, there can be no self-sufficiency, no personal responsibility, no social cohesion. Stop thinking of entitlement gimmee-people as greedy and start recognizing what they really are is terrified: they can’t rely on their network, they can’t rely on their own skills, they have nothing to rely on – and hence the idea of competing in an open marketplace is a horrible vision for them.
Too many conservatives don’t understand why social conservatives are even allowed to stay in the Republican party. They only see that the Democrats have but to dangle free birth control and abortions, and a certain percentage of the populace comes running. What they don’t see is that we can’t concede the sexual revolution without becoming just like the Democrats, because there *is* in fact a link between broken families and socialist government policies. That link needs to be made more clear.
4B And evangelicals need to be told to stop talking about what God wants or does not want, and instead phrase it in ways that aren’t going to anger and alienate people who don’t happen to share their religion – it’s that sort of talk that *created* the idea that evangelicals want to push their religious beliefs on everyone. Those evangelicals who really do want to push their religious beliefs on everyone need to be told to find a way to try to do so that does not take away anyone’s agency or make anyone feel violated or disrespected, because freedom of belief is an essential, an integral part of what America is, and was founded on. This sort of evangelical talk is exactly why Democrats are able to paint evangelicals as people who wish to establish a theocracy through force.

The Constitution has become a document that is mostly ignored or interpreted by discussing the equivalent of the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin. The downfall of the Constitution started with Griswold vs. Connecticut when the word “privacy’ was inserted into the Constitution with absolutely no basis. It continued through John Roberts pretzel logic in the Obamacare decision with additional damage done along the way by Obama’s decision to legislate immigration law on his own. So, pray tell, how is the Constitution as written still operative.
You nailed it MassJim. You have liberal Justice Ginsburg denigrating the Constitution and Obama making end-runs via Executive Orders, unelected Czars, and unfettered, unelected regulators. The current thinking is that the Constitution is a “living” document that changes with the times. This interpretive trend is disastrous since it permanently guts the document and its meaning so it can and is used to justify anything people want.

Obama has been reelected and the radical left intends to take control of aspects of our lives far beyond the bounds of their enumerated powers. We, the people, are not obligated to help them.
State and local governments, who recognize and object to Federal overreach, should take action. Governors should put the administration on notice that they will not comply, directing state and local law enforcement not to cooperate with Federal agencies much the way sanctuary cities defy immigration laws.
If the feds threaten to withhold federal funding, states could refuse to collect and deliver withheld federal revenue. The only jurisdiction in the nation that receives more federal revenue than it collects is the District of Columbia.
For example, the Obama administration wants EPA to impose cap & trade although the Congress has rejected it, shutting down coal fired power plants although there is no Constitutional basis for this demand.
Many other examples will require push back.
If I am not mistaken, Maine is a “welfare state” in that we receive more Federal money than we send in taxes. It seems most of our population thinks that we “deserve” it, and the “rich states” should send in more so we can benefit.

The Founders always said many, often conflicting things, but I assume a majority of them be proud (in between periods of continuing their arguments with each other) that they set up a Republic that has survived many divisive elections with only one Civil War, where people can disagree strongly, but argue and vote, rather than kill each other. We can buy guns, but the point should be not to USE them on each other.
Let the liberals learn their civics and the Tea Party learn the actual history of the country’s immigration, elections, and social progress, which is at least as much of what we are as the Sublime Document.

We were out-maneuvered on the public relations front by assuming Americans were not surface deep in their attention to current issues. We were trying to be diplomatic and honest while the opposition used untruths and vitriol to lure Americans more interested in scandal, more convinced by lies packed in easily digested sound-bites. Once again we had a candidate who was mowed over by these tactics. Americans had already been given a life-size version of the Democratic-created greedy hating liar named Romney before the first debates. We need a person with a fire in his belly who has conviction before we can win. That, and the near collapse of the Republic may finally wake America up.

In the last few weeks, and in the replies to this article, I have read some incredibly vile and stupid thoughts. In my entire long life, I discipline myself to consider facts, not biased notions, and draw judgments from them. I recommend hard thinking in this time.
It is a fact that only 1/3 of Syrian air force pilots are allowed to fly today; they are the only trusted segment of this branch of their military, to kill their own people. I reject all concepts of combat against the US government, civil war, as I have spent my life engineering nuclear power. Our founders never contended with an energy which can evaporate a major city. Do not put Obama in a position to consider this option. He considers the boundary of law as applicable to others.
He is not evil; he is the product of our culture, as is Romney. A socialist activist just ran against a capitalist billionaire in an economy which is staggering due to corporate and governmental corruption. The sum of their campaign costs exceeded by forty times the total expenditures of all British political parties, running for all positions, in the last election. Billions have been spent, and by a hair, the people choose bigger, corrupt government. And continued divided governance. Surely the lying media, and scientists, played some major role.
What will come? Diminished trust in all social institutions. More regulation. Continued unemployment. A weaker energy infrastructure, (my secret terror, a collapsed grid, no juice for five years in some major city). Energy costs will skyrocket. Hyperinflation, our dollar will not buy food. Heighten conflict between government and religion on social mores. Thus hundreds of schools and hospitals will close. A nuclear Iran. American blood, split on our soil, by terrorists. China and Russia will test us, harder. Our “allies” will distant themselves from us. America will be much weaker four years from now. It is not the end, but it could mark the beginning of the end of the United States of America. We are now the Divided States of America, blue on the coasts, red in the middle.

Obama will view his re-election as free will to spend as much as he likes on what ever he likes since he’s not able to campaign for a third term, so no repercussions.

So even if Romney had won, our civil liberties are still trampled upon. One obvious but overlooked point is that Barack Obama is a complete fraud. He will never lead because he not only doesn’t have a clue how to lead but if he gets close enough to the negotiations to actually be involved he would show himself up as the clueless bloviator that he is. He isn’t after all very smart just glib and he knows it.
Therefore to avoid the embarassment of being found out again as he was in the first debate, he will stay at a distance and the country will lack the leadership it needs to avoid the financial cliff in January. After four years we can be pretty sure not to expect any actions from Obama except prepared speeches and arrogant posturing.
I think repubs need to do some soul searching, especially on how to broaden our party to get that remaining 5% we need to win, with groups like hispanics, asians,and women. Hispanics and asians are workers and entrepenours and dont want gov handouts, they just want an accomidation on immigration. We can’t cede 70% of the hispanic vote to the dems and win, we need to move on immigration. And we need to make sure that if we nominate any pro life candidates, at least they are not religious nut types like Akin and Mourdock, who badly alienated women and moderates. We also need to move on gays to win young people, who really cares if 2 men want to get married, they dont hurt us or cost us anything. We cant just depend on fervor within our present cooalition, we must expand it, and the type of issues I cited here are not the vital type of pocket book issues we must stand firm on, but can win us a lot of new votes.
Yes, let’s do all of the above – state secession, nullification, or implement the 10th Amendment. Let’s finally create the 2 Americas within America. This way, we will never have to deal with a 2 party system ever again, with each America having each respective party governing. Oh wait a minute, the Founders never promoted this. They intended for America to stay as one. That was the democracy that they once championed wholeheartedly when they wrote down in the Preamble, “In order to form a more perfect union”. What this means is that the government was not perfect but that the Founders had a goal to form a better union between all the states because they know that alone, each state was not perfect but vulnerable to attack and vulnerable economically. To strive for a more perfect union could eradicate this vulnerability but if you think that J. Christian Adams’ radical suggestion is NOT against everything that the Founders believed in, then the Constitution means nothing to you so stop talking about something that you really don’t believe in – our Founders and the Constitution.
