A Hurricane Approaches Washington, and so Does Sandy
*
The polls show a president on the run. Romney is ahead or pressing hard in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and even Michigan. Virginia and North Carolina seem lost to Obama. So does Florida.
James O’Keefe has released videos showing Democrat campaign operatives assisting voter-fraud schemes and explicitly relying on Obama election-protection lawyers to advocate for the fraudsters inside the polls. A foolish and embarrassing video was cut with happening-girl Lena Dunham comparing voting for the president to something else.
Show that advertisement to fathers of daughters across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Michigan and tell me it is a net positive for Obama.
Look in, to the eye of the storm,
Look out, to the force without form.
This is the state of the Obama campaign. Disarray, criminality on tape, and retreat. Frankly, there hasn’t been a bigger disintegration the last few weeks of a campaign in my lifetime. The Obama campaign hasn’t been on offense since the disaster of the first presidential debate.
Worse, Sandy threatens to blast Philadelphia. Widespread power outages and general weather mayhem will interfere with Obama’s essential ingredient to a Pennsylvania victory. Across Virginia, Obama signs are almost nonexistent except in the northern suburbs. In long drives across the commonwealth, there are more houses with single “Kaine for Senate” signs than houses with Obama and Kaine signs.
Obama has also suspended his campaign entirely Monday and Tuesday to perform presidential duties. The last time a presidential candidate suspended campaigning, it was a catastrophe.
Yesterday I saw the strangest sight while moving a boat away from the approaching wrath of Sandy. In the middle of a wide saltwater river in Virginia, I thought I was approaching a pelican. As I got closer, I saw antlers.
In this giant threatening river swam a buck. Lost, disoriented, askew. I had never seen anything like it. As I pulled the boat closer, I could see the buck was enormous and old. Certainly it knew not to swim into the high fetch reaches of this river. It was out of place, disoriented, struggling. But it swam on, paddling and struggling to a fate that I suspected would not end the way the buck wanted.
Look in, look the storm in the eye
Look out for the sea and the sky
Look around at the sight and sound
Look in, look out, look around…

When disaster strikes, conservative minded folks rise to the challenge. The Obamabots will be totally out of commission when the Sandy bomb drops. The only question in my mind is whether or not there will be enough election fraud to get Obama his second term.
Can you spell “national disaster”, followed immediately by “state of emergency” and “martial law”?
I hope we have many examples of self-reliant individuals helping their neighbors. Make sure the chain saw is working. Fill up the gas tanks of every car and truck while the power is still on and fill gas cans. Get a mobile charger for the cell phone. Imagine an army of Republican supporters going door-to-door not just to ask people to vote, but making sure people are ok, clearing snow and debris as they go. Combine that with video from citizen journalists to show that not every problem requires a government solution.
i’m leaning towards divine providence in this case, much like Washington’s army enduring unbearable hardships, only to wind up routing the sleeping Hessian soldiers in Trenton. If we continue to understand that our rights come from God and not from man, whom should we fear?
This is a remark beyond silly. Did the protection of providence extend to the victims of the Lisbon earthquake, or any other natural disaster before or since?
Sorry David but you need to gaze in a mirror if you want to see silly. God has His hand in everything and it’s sad you don’t know that.
God’s hand is not always extended in protection.
Nice touch, Mr. Adams, using a Rush tune to set up what very well could happen. I hope the buck got out safely.
The ominous signs have started with with Barky’s sand statue partially destroyed.
It’s Bush’s fault. [mumble mumble] Halliburton [mumble mumble] big oil [mumble mumble] Dick Chaney [mumble mumble] climate change [mumble mumble] polar bears [mumble mumble].
Sodom & Gomorrah? God is taking his wrath out on the right coast’s Obama supporters? So does that mean we can expect a ginormous earthquake next week on the left coast?
Actually, there was a 7.7 quake off of the west coast of canada last night. They issued a tsunami warning for the Hawaiian islands. I had fallen asleep to the TV and awakened to the newcasts showing all the lowlying areas being evacuated. Fortunately, it was minor, and the story got eclipsed by Hurricane Sandy.
Seismologists have been saying for years that California is overdue for a big quake along the San Andreas Fault (hit my name for a link).
This vile excuse of an administration is not just ON the offensive, they ARE OFFENSIVE.
And it’s so bloody obvious right now, even the most jaded of Pollyanas is turning from them in disgust.
Props for the Rush, but if you’re going to use the life-is-a-song-cue, you left out the best parts of the lyrics.
I hate when people just C&P lyrics, but since it’s Neil Peart, I’ll make an exception for myself and post them anyway.
Tough times demand, tough talk demand
Tough hearts demand, tough songs demand
We can rise and fall like empires
Flow in and out like the tide
Be vain and smart, humble and dumb
We can hit and miss like pride, just like pride
We can circle around like hurricanes
Dance and dream like lovers
Attack the day like birds of prey
A scavengers under cover, under cover
Look in to the eye of the storm
Look out for the force without form
Look around, sight and sound
Look in, look out, look around
Tough times demand, tough talk demand
Tough hearts demand, tough songs demand
We can move with savage grace
To rhythms of the night
Cool and remote like dancing girls
In my heat of the beat and the lights, and the lights…
Sounds like it was written for a Romney rally today, doesn’t it?
Love the Rush reference! And these are definitely tough times….go Romney/Ryan!
“Props for the…”
“Props”.
What a profoundly stupid expression. It sucks the intellect out of any conversation.
It’s not as bad as the infinitely stupid, “Just sayin’…”, but it’s in the same league.
It’s shorthand. Just sayin’.
I’m so un-hip I had to look it up. Apparently it’s short for “proper respects.” The expression always made me think of propellers — perhaps the ones on beanies, spinning in wild enthusiasm?
Ah, well. What do you expect when people have reanalyzed “kudos” as a plural noun?
Look in, to the eye of the storm,
Look out, to the force without form
When on election night, they are weeping in the MSM dorm
Won’t it make your heart feel so warm?
“Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill” has come.
I always wanted to use that Shakespeare line…….I think it is fitting that you have found it. Thank you.
Some things are inexplicable. Critters in Washington D.C. are one.
Others are totally understandable. In Virginia, it is the season of the rut, mating season. Male deer are either running from a meaner competitor, another buck, or traveling toward a doe. Swimming a river is no big thing for a healthy deer; they have other things on their mind. They go nuts during the rut, and have been known to attack a pick up truck, or joggers. People should be aware, in cities, and on the water.
Things will calm down in November for deer. Not much hope for Washington D.C.
I hope you’re right, but RCP electoral does not look thay way. And the voter fraud reports are scary.
One thing that I notice many pundits appear to overlook is the Obama Tendency to Poll at the High end of Margin of Error, and then get votes at the Low end.
i.e. If Obama Polls 47 with a Margin of Error of 4, he’ll garner 43 in the acutal election.
November 6 is going to be as Shocking to the Talking Heads (if not more so) as 1980 was when I watched Peter Jennings announce with total dismay that California, yes California had fallen into the Reagan total.
I truly don’t understand you people… this is the perfect situation for voter fraud. Empty polling places, loosely guarded, plenty of FEMA trucks rolling around, distracting everyone. If there was any opportunity to tamper with the voting machines, this would be it.
Yes, but they’re pretty much all places expected to vote Obama anyhow. They can stuff New York’s ballot boxes, but all they’ll inflate is a state total that was already falling for Obama – the same applies to New Jersay and pretty much every other one of those states except Virginia.
The places where they’ll work hard on fraud are the swing states. It’s harder there, but the payoff is bigger.
hi:
I have an unrelated question you may be best positioned to answer: what happens between election day and January 21 if Romney wins in a landslide and Mr. Obama responds by using his office to maximally further policies whose net effects are negative for the country and the world?
There can be only one president at a time – so for most of three months he can wreak havoc – anything from starting another war to encouraging Holder et al to settle or refuse cases. Is there a mechanism to stop him?
Not that I know of. Any executive orders he signs can be undone by Romney on day 1, the pardons (and there will be a lot of them) are absolute though. If he does loose Romney will probably have to spend the first couple months of his term in one of his other houses as he has the white house repaired from the sacking it will receive on Obama;s way out.
Well, do expect fraudsters to agitate for a revote if turn out is suppressed for Obama.
“There can be only one president at a time – so for most of three months he can wreak havoc – anything from starting another war to encouraging Holder et al to settle or refuse cases. Is there a mechanism to stop him?”
Yes, more than one: they’re called the US Constitution, the Congress, and even the Supreme Court.
NOTHING our soon to be ex-Dear Leader tries to implement during his last few months soiling the Oval Office cannot be undone.
I dunno; a nuclear strike on Israel or an EMP attack on the US would be hard to undo. He’s certainly made the field fertile. If I’m an Iranian leader and I know I have til January before some guy takes office who’ll unleash Hell on me if I misbehave, I think I could figure out what to do between now and January.
Pardons can’t be undone.
“Hope and Change” has decayed into “Choom and Doom” !!!!
I fear that the “Never let a good crisis go to waste” thinking on Obama’s part coupled with hurricane Sandy will supply the pretense upon which he will declare martial law in the storm affected states. He will then order the polls in those states to remain open for several days in hopes of improving his vote totals.
Implementing the Cloward-Piven strategy, driven by storm damage, will be his goal.
That strategy relies on the bulk of the Atlantic Fleet letting him do it.
With the exception of PA, the states in the path of the storm have long been expected to go Obama. This is a relief. Eastern PA will be hit harder than western PA. It may swing PA to Romney. It may also affect the popular vote percentages.
We can expect pardons on a grand scale from a lame duck Obama. This is the price a nation pays for electing a man like him to high office.
Apart from that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the show?
Can Obama parden himself?
“IN THIS TIME OF CRISES”
[So many, of so many kinds]
When the harsh winds blow and nobody knows,
If the levees will fail or stand.
When the media lies swarm like disease bearing flies,
Issued at Obama’s command.
When the people seek a leader who’s meek,
And prays to the God of our youth,
Let the fearful perceive that OUR BEST NOMINEES:
Are MITT ROMNEY; PAUL RYAN AND TRUTH
Copy, send, pray, contribute, prepare, share, and VOTE.
WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND NATURE’S FURY MUCH LESS THE EVIL OF FOREIGN DESPOTS WITHOUT STRONG, FREE, PATRIOTIC LEADERSHIP.
ROMNEY & RYAN WIN BIG…so soon now!
JCA, the prophetic Rush lyrics seem to be a perfect fit. Lately an old song by ‘The Fixx’, has filtered into my mind concerning the election, called: Driven Out, which chorus goes:
Driven out, holding out
day by day survival,
castaways have silent lives
with the strength to rival
One of the verses also says:
…Plugged into my TV,
I’m used to the lies they’re telling me..
The melody, coupled with the lyrics, make for a pretty chilling song. If you’ve never heard it, you can give it a listen for free on their website.
Interesting times, good call on Force Ten though
Deer are actually very strong swimmers—a fact which surprises many people when they hear it for the first time. Deer from Long Island have been known to brave the Atlantic Ocean and swim out to Plum Island and back, which poses a problem since Plum Island houses an animal biomedical research facility.
