WELL, THAT DIDN’T TAKE LONG: Early on Friday morning, I wrote:

CHANGE: White voters poised to abandon Obama in droves.

If so, here’s a sneak preview of how the postmortems will read.

The “sneak preview” was a link to Jonathan Last’s November 1st, 2010 article in the Weekly Standard, which compared and contrasted the warm light in which liberal journalists bathed their fellow countrymen in November of 2008, with the anger the same journalists viewed their customers just two years later. The cause of such a dramatic mood shift was traced to the sudden and debilitating case of oikophobia the MSM developed beginning in mid-2009. These symptoms began to appear concurrent with the formation of the initial Tea Parties. Despite its early diagnosis that year by Reason’s Jesse Walker, the initial case of oikophobia, left untreated,  metastasized to near fatal conditions the following year, as it became increasingly apparent in Beltway and Manhattan newsrooms that the GOP was likely to recapture at least one house of Congress.

Today, as Jazz Shaw writes at Hot Air, “AP survey finds Americans still a bunch of racists… even if they don’t realize it:”

It must be almost election time and, presumably, the president’s numbers must not be looking all that spectacular. How can you tell? Well, among various factors, the Associated Press has released yet another in their long series of heralded, highly respected studies detailing precisely what a bunch of racists you all are if you’re considering voting for anyone other than Barack Obama. Only this one comes with a twist. The helpful people constructing the poll, worried that you might be living in some sort of state of denial, will help ferret out your racist feelings even if you can’t recognize them yourself. (emphasis mine)

Racial attitudes have not improved in the four years since the United States elected its first black president, an Associated Press poll finds, as a slight majority of Americans now express prejudice toward blacks whether they recognize those feelings or not.

Those views could cost President Barack Obama votes as he tries for re-election, the survey found, though the effects are mitigated by some people’s more favorable views of blacks.

So Americans have a collective false consciousness, you say? How bourgeois. Especially when you tack on a bit of pseudoscience by inventing a percentage to go along with the notion:

If asked about his invention of such a figure, perhaps Reich would reply, “I claim no higher truth than my own perceptions. This is how I lived it.”

Expect similar cases of Beltway journalists and leftwing elites such as Reich telling their countrymen in no uncertain terms how much they loathe them, if Romney’s poll numbers continue to stay up for the next week and a half — and concurrently, Obama’s keep moving southward.
