Responding to a vile Washington Post editorial that attempts to equate disagreement with Susan Rice’s confirmation with not just racism but the Confederacy (gee, now there’s an original thought), the Professor asks, “Could it be that the Editorial Board of the Washington Post is a pack of pathetic political hacks who’ll engage in racial hate speech in order to advance the White House’s agenda?”
Yes. Next question.

“The signatories deny that, and we can’t know their hearts. What we do know is that more than 80 of the signatories are white males, and nearly half are from states of the former Confederacy.”
Screaming “raciss! raciss! raciss!” has been a winning hand for the Communists (er, Democrats) for more than fifty years. Better than screaming “sexist!” “homophobe!” and (for other groups) “capitalist roader!’ “kulak!” social fascist!” “heretic!” “infidel!” “witch” or whatever. If you have the perfect winning hand, why not keep playing it?
The lesson is: hate makes us strong, hate makes us proud, hate brings victory. Plus ça change.
