Party Like It’s 1773

October 19, 2010 - 11:44 am - by Ed Driscoll

Via Cuffy Miegs of the Perfunction blog, let’s have some fun and paraphrase Janene Garofalo’s infamous rant last year on MSNBC, the channel that tarnishes daily the once proud reputations of NBC, Microsoft, and its corporate owner, General Electric:

You know, there’s nothing more interesting than seeing a bunch of Ruling Class reactionaries become confused and angry at events when they’re not quite certain what is being said. It sounds right and then it doesn’t make sense. Which, let’s be very honest about what this is about. It’s not about bashing Republicans, it’s not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don’t know their history at all. This is about hating conservatives in America. This is elitism straight up.

Which begs the question: Why don’t elites know their history — or at least how to use Google?

When you’re part of the Ruling Class, you don’t think you have to know history other than the Cliff Notes version at best — You’re the one who’s telling the masses what the relevant pieces of history are and how to interpret them.

    Also, based on this…

SPIEGEL: She wasn’t, though, part of the Republican Party establishment.

Rove: Ronald Reagan wasn’t in the establishment of the Republican Party either, nor was Richard Nixon.

…I’d swear Fox Butterfield’s German cousins must have been conducting this interview, based on Hoyng and Hujer’s grasp of Republican Party history with the conservative movement.

Raises the question, Ed, not begs the question. Begging the question is something entirely different.

  3. None of these academics actually know squat about American history, but they damn sure know all about Lenin, Marixist, Cloward-Pidgeon and Saul Alinsky! American history has been erased from our childrends school text books from kindergarten to college and beyond since the sixties and totally abolished by Jimmuh Carter and the DoE!

It is so bad you can ask a college graduate anything, I mean anything about the History of America or even who was George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Madison or Joe Biden…errruuuuhh they play in a rock band?

The Ruling Class obviously subscribes to the “Blutovian” School of History:

D-Day: War’s over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
    Otter: Germans?
    Boon: Forget it, he’s rolling.

  5. Perhaps the franchise to vote should be restricted to people who can pass with a grade of 65 the NY State Regents Scholarship Exam from the year 1965. Maybe we could be kinder and just require the High School subject exams in US History and Economics be passed. Using the exams from 45 years ago would remove the possibi…lity that more recent political agendas could be skewing the issue, back then Democrats ruled the country and we can be comfortable with acceding to the values of those Democrats.
