Maui, East Palestine, and Israeli Hostages: Forgotten Victims

The survivors of the horrendous Lahaina, Maui, wildfire. The residents of toxin-drowned East Palestine. The 130+ Israeli hostages never freed by Hamas. They all have one thing in common: Leftists and globalists only grudgingly admit their tragedies, and make every effort to forget these real victims in favor of helping victimizers.

Leftists both here in America and abroad are consistent in reserving their empathy and aid not for those most deserving of it, but for those who happen to fit a certain political category or support a certain political cause. Thus outright terrorists in Gaza and violent domestic criminals are objects of monetary and verbal aid from leftists. Meanwhile suffering citizens or victims of crime and terrorism are ignored or outright vilified. It has been observed of anti-Semitic leftists ignoring genocides and conflicts globally: “No Jews, no news.” We might also observe that if you’re not woke, you can go broke — and die miserably — for all leftists care.

Last February, a train crash poured gases and toxic chemicals into the air and water of the small town of East Palestine, Ohio. Unfortunately for the residents, the only “Palestine” Biden and his fellow Democrats care about is the one controlled by genocidal terrorists. It took days for Biden and Transportation Secretary Peter Buttigieg to say anything about the disaster. Former President Donald Trump visited the town, but Biden didn’t visit until a full year after the train derailment.

While federal officials have repeatedly asserted that the water and air in East Palestine are safe, residents say no air tests are being conducted. Experts say the government tests in general are too limited, but do point to the presence of cancer-causing chemicals. Democrats never stop screeching about the Gazan “Palestinians,” the majority of whom still support Hamas and genocidal jihad against Israel. U.S. aid pours into Gaza. East Palestine? Not so much. There was no political capital to make off the Ohio town, and the residents were therefore quickly forgotten.

Speaking of Gaza, PJ Media’s Stephen Green provided a tragic update on the Israeli hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7, over 130 of whom were never released or rescued:

Conservative criminal defense attorney and columnist Marina Medvin called it a "devastating Hostage negotiations update" because that's exactly what it is. In the ongoing negotiations between Israel and the Hamas terror organization, Hamas officials now say that "they wouldn’t commit to releasing 40 living hostages but could commit to 40 hostages total, dead or alive."…

Medvin added, "Israeli military did not comment on estimates of how many hostages may remain alive”…Two weeks ago, I came to the sad conclusion that Hamas probably has "few or no living hostages left to trade. Through abuse, neglect, or just Hamas terrorists getting its thrills, the hostages might all be dead."

From Baby Kfir to grandparents, Israeli hostages of all ages are not only probably dead, they were almost certainly abused, raped, and/or tortured first. Yet the same leftists around the world who acted as if the world ended because aid workers set up by Hamas were accidentally killed in an Israeli airstrike are demanding a ceasefire from Israel because of Hamas-issued casualty numbers. The leftists completely ignore how the majority of Gazans support Hamas’s openly stated goal of genocide against Israeli Jews, ignore the long history of Arabs’refusing lasting peace with Israel, and sniffle about Gazan babies Hamas used as human shields. No wonder the Hamas co-founder’s son, Mosab Hassan Yousef, said Americans marching in support of Gaza belonged in an “insane asylum.”

But though it is disturbing and shameful, it is unsurprising that Democrats should not care about the unfortunate Israeli hostages, since Democrats also don’t care about their own U.S. citizens. East Palestine isn’t the only scene of tragedy and disaster that was quickly forgotten by Democrats. Some 3,000 Maui wildfire survivors were reportedly lacking housing as of the end of March, over seven months after the fire occurred, with no near-future prospect but inconvenient government housing far from jobs and loved ones.

Government climate alarmism likely created the situation that made the wildfire so deadly, and government employees then reportedly blocked incoming aid while failing to help the survivors sufficiently themselves. And, just as in East Palestine, it took a period of time and plenty of political pressure before Joe Biden finally commented on and then visited Maui (but not before he went on vacation).

Maui, East Palestine, Israel. The left wants you to forget, to focus on the violent criminals and jihadis whom they support, but we must remember the true victims. Cut through the noise, and remember the suffering of those left behind by heartless, politically blinded wokies.
