Journalism Beneath Contempt

July 16th, 2013 - 2:46 pm

The Democratic Party is a machine for inciting grievances in order to consolidate its power. The Republican Party is also just such a machine, but poorly run. Incompetence and stupidity are its only saving graces. Journalists who cast a hostile and suspicious eye equally on both would be…  well, they would be journalists, wouldn’t they? How can you suspect the stratagems of those who seek power and go far wrong?

Instead, what we have in our news media is a cabal of over-educated but under-smart elites under the hilarious impression that one power-hungry party is out for the good of mankind and the other staunchly opposed. It’s such a stupid thing to think — such a blitheringly naive proposition — that reacting to them with outrage seems almost unkind, like slapping a child for believing in Santa Claus.

And yet one feels one has to say something. Take a look at the mighty John Nolte’s timeline of journalistic lies about the Zimmerman-Martin affair. From CNN falsely attributing a racial slur to Zimmerman, to NBC’s actionable editing of audio to make Zimmerman seem racist, to the New York Times‘ invention of a unique racial category (white Hispanic) useful for nothing but the ginning up of public hostility, there is a childlike insistence that the world be as Democrats claim it is, rather than as it really is, a willing suspension of disbelief in a political distortion. It really is so infantile that it would be kind of sweet and silly if it weren’t so dangerous. I mean, it’s all fun and games until somebody puts out an eye — or burns down a city.

This is not a political problem, it’s a cultural one. Leftist journalists trained by leftist professors and encouraged by leftist entertainers to slavishly serve the aims of leftist politicians. This circle will not be broken by the cowards and hapless fools on the other side of the political aisle, but only by new educators and new journalists and new culture makers who refuse to conform, rebels who respond to the ceaseless barrage of cynical and racist distortions with facts and moral truths. They can be liberals or conservatives as long as they’re honest. They just can’t be liars and clowns as most journalists seem to be today.

It better happen fast — it better happen now — because jurors like the ones in the Zimmerman trial, jurors who serve the truth above all, will be ever harder to find in a culture shaped by the current set of miscreants.

This has been a shameful affair and America’s newsrooms — and the people who create and encourage them — are to blame.

Well, on the bright side, at least as far as print (sic) journalism is concerned, we need not be concerned. As Jeantel, the eloquent spokesperson for the 'we in new school my generation' so brilliantly demonstrated, the new school generation is illiterate and won't be reading the NYTs, or WaPo any time soon.

In today's reality, journalist = propagandist - pure and simple. They truly are beneath contempt. Their currency, "credibility", is non-existent .... they're flat broke, and no prospects in sight. If they're not fabricating a "story", they're intentionally omitting key pieces of information to better make their version fit their accepted political agenda. For that reason, I haven't watched an alphabet network "news" program since 2004, nor read any byline from the AP, BBC or Reuters from that point in time onwards. What would be the point?

I agree wholeheartedly. And what set a lot of this overreaction was the media making an assumption that because the man had the name Zimmerman he was probably a white Jewish male. And instead of admitting their mistake at jumping the gun that this was a race based crime...they doubled down on stupidity by using the term, "white Hispanic" when everyone finally saw a picture of Zimmerman.

Sincerely we are really devolving into such a superstitious culture. We scapegoat everything and everyone just like our cave ancestors would do...in fact to repeat something I heard and it's very fitting...we're three steps out of the cave with shinier toys. It really is sad to see the mob run with unfettered emotion and zero analytical sense when it comes to this case.

This was just bad choices all around. But I never believed, as a black woman...that this was EVER about racism.

Breitbart was right. The news-media IS the enemy! Certainly with its exploitative misinformation campaigns and its categorical suppression of facts that would lend logic to public discourse and possibly ease discord in communities , the MSM commentariat (clearly co-opted by the DNC) have proven to be chief among the tools of thought oppression in American society. They are the lying perpetrators who have done violence to truth, they have fomented the fraying of our social fabric and--along with the elitist kultur-meisters, the agit-propagandists and unapologetic hate-mongers who get dubbed "de profindis pundit du jour" during opportune crises necessitating de rigeur leftist outrage (to say nothing of the self-promoting poverty pimps who are the cynical guards at the gates of intellectual ghettos) that are their accomplices-- they should be subjected to some type of show trial in the court of public opinion by "We The People" if at all possible.

When you hears politicians or journalists or 'community organizers' screaming "racism", it is not because they want racism to stop. This is about mobilizing a group to action. Racial arguments and advocacy has become a powerful weapon in the arsenal of the left, the last thing they want is for racism to to become a non-issue, for minorities to believe they are no longer victims of it.

It is the tribal divisions that give the progressives power, you don't seriously believe they would just drop one of their most powerful weapons, voluntarily, do you? As long as the political class can keep you in the shallow pit of tribe against tribe, you cannot get into the principles of good governance...where they have no desire to go...

Let me be clear, the journalists are helping the political class because they believe in what is essentially Marxist utopianism. Dividing us along lines that are not germane to good governance is a good way of preventing us from cohesive reactions to their political goals.

I am probably proving Godwin's law here but I highly recommend, In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson; Way too many parallels with todays political and social climate to disregard out of hand. And the press became an instrument of the Nazis in total. The most salient point was how everyone insisted things were hunky-dory until it became too late. Even when they saw what they saw and heard what they heard, they insisted they must somehow be mistaken. Trust your senses people.

"Journalism beneath contempt"

It's a travesty to even call what "news media", often including FOX, "journalism".

What we are seeing in "news media" is direct advocacy for specific positions, thinly disguised as "news". Reporters and opinion pundits deliberately and without shame discuss upcoming legislation in the terms supplied by the proponents thereof, or if they are opposed, in terms of the opposition. There is no independent analysis, facts supporting both sides or just plain honesty.

Events that occur are couched in whatever terms that support the agendas of those reporting.

This is purely a case of propaganda. We are being lied to with direct untruths and omission of facts. It is unsavory and insulting, worse, it is dangerous. Dangerous because of all of the near morons who suck it up as though it were all truth...mostly because they haven't had an education.

Maybe they will wake up when they become victims of the criminals they justify in print.

Maybe I wasn't clear.

They justify the criminals to you, because that is expedient for their own cause. It doesn't mean they actually believe what they are saying, only that they want YOU to believe it. This is purely a case of the ends justifying the means.

Leftists don't want you to defend yourself with firearms, not because it is necessarily bad to do so. They don't want you to have the arms in the first place, because you can't be trusted with them.

You have to start thinking in terms of what is the long term outcome of the strategy, not a direct examination of the position. The Trayvon Martin case is a part of the gun control strategy, not just an attack on your ability to defend yourself in public. The racism aspect is just what elevates it to the national spotlight, also part of the strategy.

The New York Times did not “invent a unique racial category” by referring to Zimmerman as a “white Hispanic.” “Latino” or “Hispanic” is not a race. Just go to Latin America (for example), and you’ll find whites, blacks, and indigenous peoples. Moreover, this term precedes the Zimmerman case. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1975883,00.html Are many of the people from Spain not white? How about from Italy or France? It’s probably a good idea to get your facts straight before you attack the “liberal media” for being irresponsible.

You obviously do not understand the meaning of the words "Wh*te, Wh*tey, H*nkey, Cr*cka, Redn*ck, Hillb*lly. Sure the peoples of southern Europe are mostly Caucasian but that does not make them "White". White is reserved for the devils created by such luminaries as The Right Reverened (Taw*nna Brawley) Sharpton, Jesse (my kid is a dr*g addled mental case) gimmee yo money J*ckson, and the lesser lights such as Racheal Jenteel, Mel*ssa (Ima full blown Ma*xist Harpy) Harris, et al...

The reason Obama doesn't speak against the racial divide he works diligently at fostering (arguably with more effort than he has used toward any other issue while in office) is this: If he can deepen our racial hostilities he can get away with ANY behavior no matter how corrupt, inept, subversive or illegal. He has done more to deserve impeachment that any person to ever hold his office; seriously, a semen stain and baldfaced lies about infidelity look downright quaint compared to the Obama administration and the machinations of his minions.

Do you believe anyone is going to bring impeachment proceedings against him if they worry about the social and economic chaos which would ensue if he was removed from office?!

No, there is a method to his madness. Obama is happy for the divisive climate, the deepening hostilities and mistrust and the cynicism which has reached an all time low during his tenure.

He 'cares' about as much for Trayvon Martin and the Black Community as he does for the ice cubes in his drinks. They serve a purpose, he has no attachment to them and when they melt away they have served his purpose…nothing more.

The GOP is in perpetual civil war: Moderate elites, social conservatives and libertarians never see life the same way.
The hard Left started its hijack of the Democrat Party in the McGovern Era. Their conquest is now complete; in matters of black “civil rights” they are far less interested in getting EQUALITY that in getting EVEN. Racial double standards, even a fashionable new black racism, are practiced blatantly. Barack Obama, with charming Cheshire grin and teleprompter eloquence, wants to appear blameless but is clearly complicit in this spewing of racial poison. He seems oblivious, for example, to the more than 500 souls who were murdered last year alone in his town of Chicago. Most of those murder victims "looked like Trayvon". But never a peep from the bully pulpit on their behalf. Dare we ask why?

This is very true, and it has its roots in the Watergate era. I was one of those kids who ran the school newspaper. Our sponsor emphasized the difference between straight news stories and editorial. It was clear cut. Then I got to college, went into the Journalism school only to be confronted by advisors and professors who espoused the idea that even straight news stories should be shaded to "shape the opinion of the populace" in order to create change. That was in 1976. I quit Journalism school after a screaming fight with my advisor who insisted that I should replace descriptive words with what I referred to at the time as deliberate innuendo. Strangely enough I became an artist and teacher. There's still a bunch of rabid liberals running in the creative sector, but there are a few of us who embrace the freedom to express our own opinions in our work.
