The Return of Me
For those of you interested in my crime fiction—or, indeed, in crime fiction in general—the new and wonderful MysteriousPress.com has just reissued a number of my old, often pseudonymous, out-of-print titles. There’s the John Wells series I wrote under the name Keith Peterson, which includes the Edgar Award winner, The Rain. There’s also The Animal Hour and Hunting Down Amanda which still hold up very well, if I say so myself. And there’s even a non-crime novel, Agnes Mallory, which was published in England to fine reviews but never found a publisher here in the U.S.. I think it’s well worth your time. Anyway, check out the site for the lost works of some of the field’s best practitioners. And by me. Here’s a promotional video by Open Road Media:

I just put some money in your pocket because you attended to the courtesy of pricing reprint electronic editions under $10.00. Since your publisher didn’t allow you to release electronic editions at the $2.99 rate, I’m not putting repeated sales on your charts just now.
Since a pretty good electronic copy of the complete Sherlock Holmes costs $2.99, I hope you won’t consider it churlish to point out that $9.99 is a lot to ask for a reprint of a backlisted book. Congratulations on getting old stuff back in print, please consider that times are a little rough to be asking a tenner for it. Don’t the Koch brother’s let you roll around in their “Scrooge McDuck” treasure vault enough for you to sell reprints at a bargain rate?
Andrew,
Is there any chance you could turn out a couple of second rate books? Unfortunately I am required by finances to acquire most of my books second hand. I was recently at a huge charity book sale scrabbling under tables for a Klavan or a Peterson. Unfortunately for me, between the other searchers who beat me to it and the selfish people who never let a Klavan book go once they’ve got one I came away empty handed.
I’m getting desperate.
I will check out this site and tell my wife she can buy me some for Christmas.
I really do like to get a royalty back to the excellent authors, so I’ll be glad to do that in this affordable media.
God Bless you and Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Michael Hutton
This is excellent news. I may have mentioned before that I was a Keith Peterson fan before I’d ever heard of Andrew Klavan, so I’m delighted the John Wells books will be in print again. And I must get Agnes Mallory, the one I haven’t read yet.
Drew, you already know ‘The Uncanny’ & ‘The Animal Hour’ were something special for me. Both (and more) encouraged me to try getting an interview with you, which you graciously agreed to as well as posted it on your site for a long time.
I’m quite glad you wrote those books, otherwise, I’d have never ‘met’ you. I’ve had many good reads from you over the years. Keep going strong.
I continue to be a fan.
