A law enforcement group is accusing CNN of deceptively editing one of their videos of the police shooting of Keith Scott in Charlotte, N.C., last month.
The organization, Blue Lives Matter, which includes both active and retired law enforcement officers, argues that the videos released by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department show that the shooting was justified, which doesn’t fit the media’s preferred narrative. Blue Lives Matter claims that CNN edited a video to make it look like the shooting was unjustified.
In the actual shooting video, officers gave Keith Scott every chance to drop his gun and surrender. Throughout the video leading up to the shooting, the police officers loudly ordered Scott over 10 times to drop his gun. Scott refused those orders and he instead advanced on officers. The video left many speculating that Scott was intending to commit suicide by cop.
The video in question was taken by Scott’s widow, Rakeyia Scott, whose voice can be heard saying, “Don’t shoot him, he has no weapon.” What you can’t hear are the cops’ repeated commands to drop the gun.

“The editing was clearly intended to give viewers the impression that Scott wasn’t armed. By intentionally excluding information to promote the false narrative that the officer-involved shooting of Keith Scott was unjustified, CNN directly contributed towards inciting violence and destruction in the Charlotte riots,” Blue Lives Matter said in a statement. “Innocent citizens were hurt during the Charlotte riots, but editing like this also incites violence against police officers long after the riots are over.”
CNN was also accused of editing a video back in August when the police shooting of another armed black man sparked riots in Milwaukee. Blue Lives Matter claims CNN took a clip of Sherelle Smith — the sister of the deceased criminal, Sylville Smith — and edited it to give their viewers the impression she was calling for peace, not violence.
“Don’t bring the violence here and the ignorance here,” Smith is heard saying during CNN’s version.
In the unedition version, Smith was recorded saying the following to the rioters:
“Burnin down shit ain’t going to help nothin! Y’all burnin’ down shit we need in our community. Take that shit to the suburbs. Burn that shit down! We need our shit! We need our weaves. I don’t wear it. But we need it.”
The media — CNN chief among them — has blood on its hands. Innocent people are being hurt and even killed due to the racial resentment and hysteria they’ve stoked in the wake of these controversial shootings.
Army veteran David Palmer is one of the innocent bystanders who was attacked on the first night of the riots. Palmer’s sister has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the facial reconstruction surgery he now requires to fix his face. He also needs help paying the bills now that he’s out of work.
“Protesters” beat David Palmer so bad during the riots on September 21st that doctors are saying his face “looks like you dropped a dinner plate from above your head”. David has multiple broken bones in his face and a fractured eye socket. David Palmer’s sister, Ashley, says on David’s GoFundMe page that her brother had gotten separated after they had dinner at the Epicenter.
David spent 7 years in the Army, deploying overseas, and this is his first year as a civilian. He just got a job bar backing at a local restaurant for quick money before he starts school. On the night of the attack, he was jumped by several men who were randomly attacking people and looting local businesses.
Ashley says on the GoFundMe page “I knew I couldn’t protect him while he was in Afghanistan, but never did I worry about our own streets.”
Police have arrested one of the suspects involved in a beating near the area of Palmer’s attack, but it’s not known at this time if he was one of the people who attacked Palmer.
Detectives say evidence gathered during their investigation helped them to identify Cortney Pinkney as a suspect in the breaking and entering that occurred at the CVS and the assault that happened in the Epicentre parking deck after protests turned violent following the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott.
During the assault, the victim sustained serious injuries. Pinkney has been charged with two counts of common law robbery, two counts of assault inflicting serious bodily injury, two counts of ethnic intimidation, false imprisonment, felony conspiracy, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and injury to property.
A 17-year-old high school student in Alabama was hospitalized in critical condition after being assaulted by an angry black mob over the weekend. The offense that incited the mob? He reportedly expressed an unpopular opinion on Facebook.
Brandi Allen told Fox affiliate WBRC that her son, Brian Ogle, suffered a skull fractures in the brutal attack following a Friday-night football game.
“Apparently he was hit with something — what is presumed to be the butt of the pistol on his face,” she said. “He has stitches and he’s got bruising, real bad bruising on his shoulder. There’s a lot of wounds on the back of his head from being hit as well.”
“Instead of us planning for his 18th birthday, we’re here,” Allen told WBRC from the UAB Hospital on Sunday. “Why? Because he made a statement that he backs the blue? I’m still trying to understand how someone, no matter the color of their skin, can do this to another human being.”
On Monday, Ogle’s condition was upgraded from critical to fair.
Mrs. Allen said that her son showed support for law enforcement on Facebook after some students at his high school wore Black Lives Matter shirts to class. When Ogle received threatening messages, they reported them to the principal at Sylacauga High School, according to his mother.
The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that no arrest warrants had been issued for the suspects in the beating yet.
She is calling the assault a “hate crime” that almost cost her son his life. She also said, “I won’t stop until they are punished.”
