The Midterms: Scott Baio’s Reminder of What’s Always at Stake When You Vote

The caller’s voice on the radio sounded familiar. It was Feb. 23, 2017, and Rush Limbaugh just came out of a commercial break:

“Okay. We’re going to the phones. We’re starting in Los Angeles. Hi, Scott. Great to have you with us on the EIB Network. Hello.”

And then the caller jumped right in: “Thanks, Rush. You know, I’m a hard-core conservative. I listen to you every day. I watch the news. I’m on the internet. So, I’m a fairly informed individual.”

The two had an interesting conversation about how, so very early in President Donald Trump’s first term, the Republicans in Congress already seemed to be working against him, particularly Paul Ryan, who was speaker of the House.

At one point during the conversation, the caller piqued Rush’s curiosity when he said he was in Hollywood. One thing led to another and he told Rush he was Scott Baio of TV sitcom fame. The conversation, which was already respectful and good-natured, grew even more pleasant. They even made arrangements while on the air to play golf together. The takeaway, however, was that Baio was really frustrated with the Republican Party, and he feared Trump wasn’t going to get his agenda moving because of them.

What I've remembered most about the call ever since was something Baio said towards the end of the conversation.

Rush asked him how much patience he’d give Trump before he would start questioning things. Rush said, “So but if he doesn’t do it next week, next month, I mean, how long does Trump have to do this before you start losing support for Trump?”

Baio, without missing a beat, said, “Well, I have this theory about Trump. I will give him eight years if he does nothing, because I don’t want the other side doing anything. I don’t want liberals getting any more of their agenda through because I think they’re killing the country.”

Baio reiterated to Rush, “So if he does eight years of absolutely nothing, I’m okay…I will not abandon Trump. Absolutely not.”

It’s important to think about what Baio said every single election cycle. If all you do is prevent a Democrat or a democrat socialist – but I repeat myself – from taking office, you’ve accomplished something. And no small thing, either.

No matter how bad the RINO may be, and there are plenty of bad ones, if it’s between the Republican and the Democrat, every conservative needs to vote and needs to vote party line. Yes, there’s always a chance that a RINO will make you feel like you’ve been played, because sometimes they will play you. They will be hypocrites when it’s convenient for them.

But 100% of the time, if you vote for a Democrat or allow a Democrat to win by not voting at all, you’ve helped get your own taxes raised and you've surrender more control over your speech, your gun rights, your healthcare, your kids’ education, your job, and even your own parental rights.

Do not forget what life was like under Joe Biden and Democrat majorities in the House and Senate. They no longer hide any of this. Democrats side with violent illegal aliens, rapists, traffickers who hustle people and drugs, cartel leader Nicolás Maduro, the corrupt Somalis, the corrupt people running NGOs, baby killers, Antifa, Hamas, and a trans culture that is not only a lie but appears to be increasingly murderous.

If you’re judged by the company you keep, this is the modern Democratic Party – the party of death and violence and anti-Americanism.

Everyone is waiting for the cold weather to break, the college semester to end, and that NGO money to start flowing to create organized chaos that will be designed to wear the public down. It will seek to demoralize voters and give them the sense that all of the left's antics can and will stop, but only if they get their way come election day. It's election by a sort of blackmail.

We cannot let the left pick up where they left off the last time they had a majority. We saw how that worked out. It has to end. Because if the Democrats win, it's not even a matter of time. They will come after everything you hold dear.
