Florida: Sen. Nelson Holds Off Connie Mack

Rep. Connie Mack (R-Fla.) fell short in his effort to unseat incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.).

With 19 percent of precincts reporting, Nelson led Mack 56.6 percent to 41.1 percent.

Mack has been a strong foe of tyrants such as Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, and Mack has been courting the same Cuban voters who helped Marco Rubio ascend to the Senate.

However, Mack was never quite able to catch up to Nelson in the polls.

UPDATE: With 84 percent of precincts counted, Nelson leads Mack 55.2 percent to 42.3 percent.
