Monday was International Talk Like a Pirate Day—the one day of the year we all set aside our differences and celebrate our inner pirate. According to Wikipedia, the day “was created created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy),” who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day “when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.”
For many humans, it’s a day to get free Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The company hands out a free doughnut to any customer who talks like a pirate and generously bestows a whole box of the glazed goodness upon anyone who shows up in costume. Unfortunately, pets are not eligible for the promotion, but many still celebrated in style by dressing up in everything from eye patches to full pirate gear.
