House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is heading into the summer recess after having a big week that can be looked at in a variety of ways, especially after a closed door meeting with firebrand/perpetual thorn in her side Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
For the past two weeks or so, Democrats and their media puppets have been acting as if there never was a real problem between Pelosi and AOC, despite the fact that the latter very clearly stated that there was one on national television.
While everyone can go about pretending that the meeting was simply about the greater good of the Democratic caucus, it all has the feel of Pelosi sucking up to a freshman congresswoman. Pelosi attempted some spin on the political theater:
Today, Congresswoman @RepAOC and I sat down to discuss working together to meet the needs of our districts and our country, fairness in our economy and diversity in our country. pic.twitter.com/eVp1LS0Gpw

Optics are everything in modern politics and this picture is very telling. One of the women has a pained, forced smile, and the other has a gloating “Gotcha!” look about her. I will leave it to you discerning readers to determine which is which.
Also, does anyone truly believe that the meeting was about boilerplate Democratic talking points?
Even more telling is this post-meeting clip:
Question: “Speaker Pelosi, did she understand your concerns?”
Rep. @AOC: “It was a positive meeting and productive.”
Question: “Does she respect your opinion?”
AOC: “Absolutely. Absolutely.” pic.twitter.com/IKuDCuFJ33

The mainstream media has already crowned AOC the de facto queen of the Democratic Party. As such, it’s all-important to know what she thought about the meeting and whether her boss is giving her the respect the MSM demands. The fact that Nancy Pelosi is the third most powerful person in the most powerful nation on Earth means nothing to them when they have a photogenic new millennial darling who can give them hefty intellectual hot takes like this:
Today I was asked why we should bother paying interns if they’re “getting experience for their résumé.”
Here’s what we have say about that: pic.twitter.com/vbHoMTLDI3

It is difficult for Pelosi to figure out where she stands these days, no doubt. On consecutive days this week, the same Politico writer wrote that the Speaker of the House had rebounded from “weeks of Dem infighting,” then portrayed her as being back on the defensive regarding impeachment.
Credit to Pelosi though: a lesser politician would have caved to the nonstop impeachment chorus within her caucus by now.
There, I just praised Nancy Pelosi.
I need a recess now.
