Democrats just can't face the truth about Obamacare. Barack Obama and the Democratic Party unambiguously sold it as the fix for skyrocketing health care costs, with Obama straight-up promising families would save $2,500 a year on premiums. Then the law was signed and instead of relief, costs kept climbing, faster than ever. And Democrats are utterly clueless about the problem.
Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) perfectly captures the denial. She scratched her head during a hearing about people saying Obamacare jacked up prices, even though it was meant to rein them in. "I will maybe just ask this one question, which really goes to this issue of what happens if we don't have healthcare coverage for everyone," she said. Then she added, "Because one of the arguments that I hear is somehow that the ACA made healthcare more expensive."
Democrat Maggie Hassan can't comprehend how Obamacare "somehow" results in higher healthcare prices.

HASSAN: "...one of the arguments that I hear is somehow that the ACA made healthcare more expensive..."

What’s her evidence that it didn’t? Because “Affordable” is in the official name of the legislation?
Reality slaps back hard with the numbers. As Forbes recently noted, since the passage of Obamacare, “premiums have nearly tripled, and deductibles have more than doubled. The cost of coverage for a family of four has increased by more than $10,000.”
It gets worse. You’re not only paying more for coverage, but you’re also paying more for less coverage.
One of the most alarming trends in Obamacare-based insurance has been skyrocketing deductibles, according to an analysis of federal government data by KFF. In 2014, the first year that the Affordable Care Act went into effect, the average deductible in a benchmark Silver plan was $2,425. In 2026, the average deductible will be $5,304: a 119% increase. That means that before your health insurance even kicks in, you’ll have to incur $5,304 in out-of-pocket costs.
The Forbes analysis also found that Obamacare deductibles are much higher than those in employer plans, which suggests the problem is, in fact, Obamacare.
Last month, even CNN couldn’t paper over the disaster Democrats created with Obamacare. During a NewsNight segment, Ana Navarro acknowledged that Americans are getting hammered by punishing premium spikes and that many are asking whether they can even hang on to their insurance, even “with subsidies.”
“Look, I think this issue is not going to go away, and we’re going to be talking about this because we’re going to hear horrible stories,” she admitted. “People are not going to be able to afford their insurance. I don’t think, even with subsidies, they’re going to be able to afford the premiums that are hiking up 100, 200, 300%.”
That admission stood out because it came from a network that spent years insisting Obama’s signature law made healthcare more affordable. Navarro described a reality that millions of families feel every time they open a bill. Premiums climb, deductibles soar, and the promise of relief never arrives.
Conservative media has been sounding the alarm about Obamacare since before it was even passed. So, when the liberal media is conceding that Obamacare failed to deliver the affordable healthcare it promised, well, that’s a big deal. Households are juggling rising premiums, unpredictable out-of-pocket costs, and insurance plans that cover less while costing more. Democrats in Congress can’t deny that the problem is Obamacare. And as long as they’re in denial, they’ll never be a part of a solution.
