The Media Learned Nothing From the Biden Health Cover-Up

There’s no denying it—the media thinks you’re dumb. You can see it in their latest desperate attempt to distract from the Biden autopen scandal. With the smell of damage control wafting from their reporting, it’s painfully clear just how little regard NBC has for the American public’s intelligence.

Joe Biden’s use of the autopen to rubber-stamp mass pardons and executive orders—almost certainly without his direct involvement—has reignited serious questions about his mental fitness and who was really calling the shots inside the White House. As Biden’s cognitive and physical decline became impossible to ignore, House Oversight Chairman James Comer launched a probe into who was actually pulling the strings behind these sweeping decisions. A recent exposé from the New York Times has shoved the issue back into the spotlight, and no amount of spin can mask just how ugly this situation is for Biden.

NBC News, naturally, has to try to give Biden some cover. And boy, did they make themselves look stupid trying. In their report, they breathlessly revealed that Comer occasionally uses a digital signature when sending out letters and subpoena notices.

You’re supposed to think this is an earth-shattering revelation, but anyone with a pulse (or a basic understanding of how government works) can see the absurdity.

A digital signature isn’t an autopen. It’s not some staffer cranking out legally binding presidential actions all while the president is none the wiser. That’s the key difference here, and NBC knows it. But they’re gambling that you’re too dumb to care.

Let’s not stop there. The NBC “exposé” tries to muddy the waters further by conflating “letters and subpoena notices” with actual subpoenas. Comer, of course, used a wet signature—the real deal—when it actually mattered. NBC’s phrasing is a deliberate misdirection; they're hoping you’ll mix up procedural communications with constitutionally significant acts. Their implication? That everyone does this, so the outrage at Biden is hypocritical. It’s laughable and frankly insulting.

Maybe the most insulting part is how NBC ignores the core scandal. The autopen wasn’t just used for routine paperwork. We’re talking presidential pardons: a sweeping constitutional power that demands the president’s attention and consent. According to recent reporting, entire categories of people were pardoned based on loose directions, with details left up to staffers. Biden’s defenders pretend this is business as usual. Even Biden himself dismisses it as “ridiculous and false.” But the fact that these questions persist, and the press actively helps bury them, should make every American pause.

The transparency we deserve is nowhere to be found. Major media outlets like NBC News could dig into whether Joe Biden even understood the pardons and executive orders coming out of his own White House. But they won’t. Instead, they manufacture flimsy counter-narratives, deflect from the real story, and gaslight the public—betting that most Americans won’t dig deeper. It’s the kind of shameless partisanship that has gutted journalism of its credibility.

You have to wonder what goes on inside these newsrooms. Do they high-five each other over the latest spin job? Is there any trace of self-awareness left—or just smug certainty that their viewers will believe whatever they’re told? There was a time when journalism meant holding power accountable, no matter who held it. That ethic is long gone at places like NBC, CNN, and the Washington Post.

What’s astonishing is that even after getting caught red-handed covering up Biden’s cognitive decline for years—ignoring obvious warning signs and dismissing legitimate concerns as “conspiracy theories”—the media still haven’t learned a thing. They’re doubling down, not reflecting. And in doing so, they’re confirming exactly why so many Americans no longer trust a word they say.
