Karine Jean-Pierre Claims She's an Independent, and I’m a Black Lesbian

One of my biggest pet peeves is when hardcore leftists claim to be independents.

It’s a laughable, all-too-common trope I’ve run into again and again—someone who has spent their entire adult life pushing Democrat policies, defending Democrat politicians, and attacking the right at every turn claims the moral high ground of “independence.”

I’ve heard all the explanations. Everything from “I’m not blindly loyal to the Democratic Party” to “I research both sides before coming to an opinion.” Then there’s the “There are Republicans I like” line, which usually includes former Republicans and RINOs who bear no resemblance to actual conservatives.

Which brings us to Karine Jean-Pierre.

Yes, that Karine Jean-Pierre—the former Biden White House press secretary who spent two years parroting every DNC talking point with the help of her handy binder. She has a new book coming out, called "Independent," in which she reveals her departure from the Democratic Party. That’s right, she wants us to believe she’s just a free-thinking truth-seeker trying to rise above the political fray. According to the publisher’s book description, Jean-Pierre “shares why Americans must step beyond party lines to embrace life as Independents.”

You’ve got to be kidding me.

This is someone who worked for not one, but two Democrat presidents. She was a senior adviser to Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, chief of staff to Kamala Harris, and then the White House press secretary. That’s not a political résumé—it’s a loyalty pledge. But now, after years of unapologetic partisan warfare, she’s discovered the virtue of being “Independent”? Sorry, I’ve seen this movie before.

If she’s an independent, I’m a black lesbian.

The book claims, “Jean-Pierre didn’t come to her decision to be an Independent lightly.” Well, duh, it resulted from a marketing team coming up with a gimmick to help her sell books. Still, they try to present it as a moral decision that came after “the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to [Biden’s] decision” not to run again. Translation: she became an independent because Democrats aren’t loyal enough.

ICYMI: Here's What the Left Gets Wrong About the 'One Big, Beautiful Bill'

I’ve met plenty of Karine Jean-Pierres in my life. They’ve voted Democrat since they were old enough to vote, think every conservative is evil and an existential threat to democracy. They believe Trump stole the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton, but questioning the results of the 2020 election makes you a threat to democracy. And yet they insist they’re “in the middle.” It’s a trick to gain credibility while continuing to push the same tired leftist agenda.

The publisher promises “an urgent, timely analysis” and claims Jean-Pierre “presents clear arguments and provocative evidence as an insider about the importance of dismantling the torrent of disinformation and misinformation that has been rampant in recent elections.” That’s rich coming from the person who stood at the White House podium and dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian disinformation—even long after it was verified as real.

But the most unintentionally hilarious line comes near the end: “As a history maker, veteran public servant, political analyst and independent thinker, she urges Americans to think outside of the blue-and-red box.” Sorry, but when you spent your entire career inside the blue box, being its most visible public mouthpiece, you don’t get to pretend you’ve transcended partisanship.

This book isn’t about encouraging independent thought. It’s about repackaging Democrat talking points under the illusion of nonpartisan virtue. And if you believe Karine Jean-Pierre is suddenly a centrist, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
