Google/Yahoo Delay Ad Deal Launch

In the face of continuing Congressional concerns, Google and Yahoo have agreed to postpone the launch of their controversial ad deal.  Google folks have been walking the halls in DC to try and assure folks that the deal doesn’t present the dangers that concern critics, but serious doubts remain and Congressional leaders continue to look critically at the relationship.  With Sen. Kohl’s call last week for continued DOJ monitoring of the deal, it seems Google and Yahoo have not succeeded in convincing DC regulators — and are now postponing the deal to buy some time to make their case.  It may not do much good: this is exactly the sort of deal that regulators love to grandstand on . . . and even if the duo does move ahead, DOJ watchdogs will always be close at hand and ready to pounce unannounced.
