Obama, MSM Trapped in Obamaville

“Democrats see minefield in Occupy protests,” AP reports. Though I think they’re being metaphoric with the minefield reference, despite OWS’s rather high body count:

The Republican Party and the tea party seemed to be a natural political pairing. But what may have seemed like another politically beneficial alliance — Democrats and Occupy Wall Street — hasn’t happened.

Although both Democrats and the Occupy protesters have similar views on economic inequality and corporate responsibility, each holds the other at arm’s length. There’s little benefit to Democrats in opening their arms wide to a scruffy group that has erupted in violence, defied police and shown evidence of drug use while camping in public parks across the country — much as the prospect of such a pairing delights Republicans.

It’s a little too late for that, AP. Or to put it another way, “God bless them for their spontaneity. It’s independent … it’s young, it’s spontaneous, and it’s focused. And it’s going to be effective,” as Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi said in early October.

And indeed it has been remarkably effective — though in rather “unexpected” ways, to borrow the media’s favorite Obamanomic adjective. But then, since every day is a learning day for the OWS gang, why wouldn’t the same be true for the legacy media that supports them?
