Here's How Much Foreign Cash Reaches U.S. Universities — and Why It Matters

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) now has a portal exposing foreign funding to American universities, showing tens of billions of dollars from abroad pouring into our institutions of higher learning. This explains so much about the dangerous ideas countless college graduates have.

Both Democrats and Republicans have, for years, up through the present, made investment and business deals with enemy foreign nations. After all, large amounts of money pouring into the United States are definitely positive, right? Wrong. When enemy nations offer investment deals or university donations, they do so because they believe that money will help them undermine our society, transform our culture, and influence the beliefs of our population. This is why it is so incredibly crucial for Americans, including many GOP politicians, to understand the far-reaching and ominous ramifications of foreign funding at American universities.

The ED portal shows $72.2 billion in disclosed gifts and contracts from foreign sources. It is important to note that this is an incomplete number by ED’s own admission. Firstly, this only includes grants of $250,000 or more, so if foreign investors or governments are giving a university less than that amount at one time, the number will not show up in the portal tally. Secondly, these are disclosed grants, which means there could well be many undisclosed ones. The shady money trail behind the large amounts of money that Chinese Communists were pouring into the University of Pennsylvania and its Biden Center come to mind.

That brings me to an important point, which is that two of the biggest funders of U.S. universities are Qatar and China, in both of which countries, businesses and major initiatives can only operate under the seal of approval from the genocidal, terrorist governments. Hamas-sponsoring, jihad-loving, sharia-enforcing Qatar is the number one foreign funder of our universities. Saudi Arabia, another sharia-loving Muslim dictatorship, also throws significant cash at our universities. In fact, according to ED, the top four foreign funders are Qatar, China, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. Top recipients of foreign funding include Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, University of Michigan, University of California San Diego, Stanford University, Duke University, and Columbia University.

As for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), it not only issues grants to U.S. universities, it also funnels money specifically to anti-Israel, anti-America, pro-terror protestors. As the great Rush Limbaugh always said, follow the money. If you wonder why pro-Hamas protests became ubiquitous on U.S. campuses, or why a late 2025 Axios-Generation Lab poll showed that 67% of college grads have a positive view of socialism, it's partly due to the Chinese, Qatari, and Saudi money pouring into U.S. universities.

That Axios poll showed that a majority of college graduates claim to prefer socialism to capitalism. The fact that they obviously have no idea what those words really mean is irrelevant, as they will vote based on their ill-informed, emotional ideology. Young voters drove Zohran Mamdani's rise to mayoral office in New York City. According to Navigator Research, Kamala Harris won the under-30 demographic in 2024, with young women particularly skewing in her favor. Pew Research polling last year revealed a trend of growing anti-Israel sentiment among young Americans, including Republicans. Going into America's 250th birthday this year, only 34 percent of Americans aged 18 to 29 expressed pride in being American.

That's why the foreign funding at U.S. universities matters so much. It's funding the poisoning of the rising generation's minds.
