Meltdown: Border Patrol Agents Test Positive for Diseases Brought In by the Flood of Illegal Aliens

Let’s just tick through what’s going on on the border.

Whether it’s accidental or by DACA design, the US-Mexico border is being overrun with illegal aliens from Central America.

Mexico was once known for its tough handling of its southern border with Belize and Guatemala. Not anymore. At least 52,000 illegal aliens have managed to cross Mexico and reach the US border in the past few months.

Many of them are kids. Some of them are hardcore criminals. With Hizballah known to be active in South America and Mexico, who knows who else may be using this moment to slip into the US?

Our broken visa system remains the easiest way for terrorists to get here and stay here. But a porous border doesn’t help security.

The illegal aliens are bringing diseases. There is one known case of swine flu in San Antonio already, directly linked to the border surge.

CBS buries a serious lead at the end of this story. According to Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX): “I’ve talked to border patrol down in McAllen. They’ve seen TB; they’ve seen chicken pox; they’ve seen scabies. And according to Border Patrol, 4 or 5 of their agents have tested positive for those diseases.”

What will that do to morale in the Border Patrol?

We’ve got heroin surging across the border.

The surge in people crashing the border is straining local services not just at the border, but all over the country.

For some reason, most likely communication with the Obama White House, illegal immigration activists are planning this moment to occupy US House buildings to pressure Republicans into passing Obama’s preferred immigration bill. It’s no coincidence that the occupiers are youth activists. The whole show, at the border and in Washington, is about poking emotions.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is heading to the border this weekend, to put herself on the side of lawlessness. Barack Obama remains a commentator, a spectator, an insult comic rather than a leader.

The reality is, he is leading. He has warned/threatened that if congressional Republicans don’t do exactly what he wants on immigration, then he will write laws without them. For now, he is just biding his time, waiting for the border crisis to build. He’s probably miscalculating Americans’ response. It wouldn’t be the first time.

There could be a backlash. Gallup finds that a plurality of Americans want even legal immigration slowed down.

It’s looking more and more like we’ll get a series of major manufactured crises — the border, a constitutional battle over Obama’s power grabs, more economic deterioration, other crises TBD — over the course of this president’s final two years in office.
