Eric Holder did it. Then he lied about it. Between doing it and lying about it, he tried to hide it.

The Justice Department acknowledged late Friday that Attorney General Eric Holder was on board with a search warrant to obtain the personal emails of a Fox News reporter, as media and civil liberties groups continued to raise concerns about the case.

Following prior reports indicating that Holder had likely signed off on the search warrant, the Justice Department acknowledged Holder’s involvement and defended the decision. It insisted the call to seek these files — in the course of an investigation into a leak allegedly made by State Department contractor Stephen Jin-Woo Kim — was legal.

“The Department takes seriously the First Amendment right to freedom of the press,” the department said in a written statement, provided late Friday at the start of the holiday weekend. “In recognition of this, the Department took great care in deciding that a search warrant was necessary in the Kim matter, vetting the decision at the highest levels of the Department, including discussions with the Attorney General.

“After extensive deliberations, and after following all applicable laws, regulations and policies, the Department sought an appropriately tailored search warrant under the Privacy Protection Act. And a federal magistrate judge made an independent finding that probable cause existed to approve the search warrant,” the statement said.

Whatever excuse Holder’s DOJ comes up with next, it won’t fly. This leak did not involve any information so serious that it put Americans at risk, which was Holder’s excuse to sweep up the AP’s phone records. He has no excuse for claiming under oath that he had never heard of or been involved in potentially prosecuting members of the press. He not only had heard of it, he signed off on it. And tried to hide it.

Barack Obama now faces a test: Will he be more loyal to one man or to the American people and the law?

Holder cannot be expected to know anything about what Holder did as head of the DOJ when Holder instructed him to do so. Holder finds this outrageous, but Holder cannot comment, since he is presently investigating Holder. Once he looks into this, Holder will get back to us.

keep up the good work folks!! I think we are getting someplace and particularly i noticed Scott Pelley's recent mea culpa

until a condition is document by the so called "mainsteam" news it is not official and thus does not warrant a response

the "official news" however has noticed that its credibility has seriously eroded:fewer people are listening each month

if the house of babel is to be brought down this official news or "Fourth Estate" has to come down first

and i do believe we are getting there

Of course he did it. Did anyone truly believe he hadn't? The law requires that he be the one to sign off on it. If he hadn't, the judge would not have signed off, either. This just confirms what we all knew.

Did anyone think Holder wasn't lying to Congress with his Sgt. Schultz routine?

How about Hillary? Did anyone honestly think she wasn't lying to Congress, either? Did anyone buy this nonsense that she had signed the Benghazi authorization without reading it? Does anyone actually believe that the decision not to aid the consulate did not come through her or Obama?

Miller lied to Congress. Lerner lied. They all lied, and they continue to lie, even after being caught in the lie. They just tell a new lie, however feeble.

As an adherent to the rule of man, Obama will stand with Holder. It is that simple. Now what are you going to do about it? Nothing for 80% of the population, be angry and post meaningless drivel on teh intertoobs will take up another 15% and for the last 5% well they will either make or brake the union. From what I have seen most of that 5% is turning pirate and will continue to prosper even under the all oppressive state.

It looks as though the spirit of the founding fathers is not to be found among the people of America at this time.

Obama was willing to throw his own grandmother under the bus to save his own skin. He will have zero concerns about getting rid of Holder. He just may want to be more subtle.

Since they are taking so much advice from how totalitarian's run things, maybe they'll borrow an oldy but a goody from the Russians:

"Holder has a bad cold."

It will turn worse, and then he'll be reported as deceased. If I was Holder, I wouldn't eat or drink anything at the Obama Memorial day bar-b-q.

If that sounds completely crazy, 2 weeks ago, whenever someone complained that the IRS was targetting conservative groups, they were dismissed as crazy.
