Irin Carmon also blames pro-lifers for politicizing abortion. I suppose that’s true if you look at how the pro-life lobby has worked at the state level to make abortion harder to obtain.

But Carmon and other liberals this morning have gone far beyond politicizing abortion. They are politicizing infanticide:

Here are some important things to know about the tragedies committed in Gosnell’s clinic, based on the sources you missed. This week, as Virginia-based pro-choice activist Michelle Kinsey Bruns noted on Twitter, “Fitting that the right is trying to whip folks into a frenzy over #Gosnell the same day VA is trying to put safe abortion care out of reach.” She’s referring to so-called TRAP laws, which are regulations aimed at abortion clinics that have nothing to do with safety — say, the size of parking lots — to seek to drive them out of business, and which are expected to go forward in a vote today. According to Tara Murtha, a Philadelphia-based reporter who has been covering the Gosnell case from the start, in the aftermath of Pennsylvania’s own TRAP laws, the state went from 22 free-standing clinics to 13. As Murtha puts it, “The bottom line is that politicizing abortion led to Gosnell. Their answer? Politicize it more.”

“Politicizing abortion led to Gosnell”? Is she serious? Why is it the de facto response by many liberals to absolve individuals who commit  heinous crimes of personal responsibility? It’s not Gosnell’s fault! It’s those damn pro-lifers that “led”(?) to Gosnell.  This counterfactual view of Gosnell — if only abortion were free this wouldn’t have happened — is a favorite construct on the left because it demands absolutely no proof whatsoever.

After all, the question is not just why the state failed to respond to the complaints of women and advocates who visited the clinic, although that matters hugely. It’s why women kept going there anyway: because they felt they had no alternative. Read this account from Jeff Deeney, a social worker from Philadelphia, who points out that the lack of public funding for abortion is a big factor leading desperate women to Gosnell: “It’s worth noting for outsiders that Health Center #4 which serves the same neighborhood is the best in town, providing quality care for the uninsured poor. But Health Centers don’t do abortions, and Medicaid, where a TANF mom’s insurance coverage would come from, if she had any at all, doesn’t pay for them. And for these women the cost of paying for an abortion out of pocket breaks the budget, leaving mom scrambling to make next month’s rent or possibly wind up on the street.” Cost is also how women often get past the legal gestational limit, as they struggle to save up enough money — and Gosnell’s willingness to break the law was what made him their last chance. To everyone who thinks his case was a reason for more abortion restrictions: What he did was already illegal.

There is one small issue that Ms. Carmon fails to bring up. These women are “desperate.” The felt they had “no alternative.” But babies do not come from storks or grow on trees. Presumably, these “desperate” women know a little bit about the facts of life and how babies are conceived. It can also be presumed that these women with “no alternative” know how to prevent babies from being conceived and know something of birth control — or are aware of what a condom is for.

Needless to say, women who are raped or are impregnated due to incest are indeed, victims, and the overwhelming majority of Americans believe that abortion should be available to them in order to terminate the pregnancy. (Only 10% believe in “no exceptions” abortion.) The issue of public monies being used to provide abortions in these cases can and should be debated. But lumping the victims in with women who make bad choices (and the men who facilitate and assist in those choices) is blowing smoke to obscure the fundamental issue of personal responsibility.

Yup. The ignorathon has failed, and so now Plan B is to blame the pro-life movement for the fact that Gosnell operated in plain view for more than 3 decades with no oversight, even when complaints were brought directly to government officials.
Carmon is part of the Chattering Class gatekeepers who work overtime to convince the American public that "safe, legal" abortions are subject to the same regulatory protocols as other clinics which provide real medicine. Wrong. There are tighter health and safety controls on Tattoo parlors, beauty shops and dog kennels.
Gosnell is an extreme example, but his case raises questions about many other abortionists who operate with similar lack of regulatory oversight. NARAL and Planned Parenthood, with the willing collaboration of the Lamestream, quickly rush to assure us that everything's OK everywhere else while they slam the doors shut to public view.

Really? What about releasing of convicted, serial rapists? HUH? What about early childhood sex education in American Public Schools ??? What about rampant pornography featured on American movies, rated PG????HUH???
NAH! "The collective" has one, and only one goal...Sodomization of america and american citizenry. Free ABORTIONS=Free SEX, simple. Rise of HIV/AIDS, STD's et all are proof of this. Statistics don't lie. Body piercings are "body Art." Tattoos are beauty, body statements(male & female). San Francisco's "Naked Day" is further sodomization (pray tell, how in the world is this ever conceived as a "STATEMENT?" HUH?)New York's Museum of Modern Art depicts 'debased' human and religious art as "culturally" relevant! HOW?
Guess "the Collective" knows better! We The People must just bow our heads in shame and accept this "abortion/LGBT" collective agenda as America's "new Normal?" Pray. Amen. Tea Party, organize for Christ's sake!

Why don't Carmon and the rest of the crowd form a charitable organization to funds abortions for indigent women? Why doesn't Planned Parenthood perform a certain percentage of its abortions pro bono? Why don't these champions of women's reproductive rights ever put their money where their constantly running mouths are??

Keep ones eye on the ball!!!!
Sorry, this is long but exposes Progressive new Left Activists true agenda:
Gosnell is merely one tool in the shed of eugenics and government sponsored population control. Stop and think about (encouraged)current world migratory trending and USA's lack of "Border Security!".
1)As government policy, population control is the servant of economic policy masquerading as science or benevolence. We know this because American policy documents on population were declassified and entered the public domain. Originally, US presidents like Eisenhower said the US had no business interfering with the population of other nations. This was officially changed in 1974. At that time, the US National Security Council did a study, National Security Study Memorandum 200, which suggested that population growth might cause unrest in the Third World and might lead to demands for a greater share in resource use. Therefore, population control should be a matter of "paramount importance". The study was became policy through National Security Decision Memorandum 314 (NSDM 314) in 1975. NSSM 200 and NSDM 314 were declassified in the late Eighties and discovered by pro lifers. From these documents we know that the true reason for the US policy of support of population control is that the United States elite wants the resources of the Third World for itself.(9) Population control as government policy is colonialism by other means.
2)Manyearly economists were deeply involved with colonialism. T.R. Malthus taught at the College of the East India Company. James Mill and John Stuart Mill both worked for the East India Company as Examiners of Correspondence. This means that they had day-to-day responsibility for making policy in India. When James Mill instituted his famous program of education for John Stuart Mill, he was training him to take over did position as Chief Examiner. And John Stuart Mill did become Chief Examiner.(12) John Stuart Mill's chief disciple was Alfred
Marshall, who founded the Cambridge Department of Political Science. His chief associate was John Neville Keynes, the father of John Maynard Keynes. Keynes first job was in the India Office. Keynes trained James Meade of the World Bank and George Cadbury of the UN Technical Assistance Commission and the IPrison Planet Forum. So "classic economics" was involved with colonialism, as well as population control, almost from the start and the involvement continues to this day.
3)But, in the very beginning, economics was not involved with either population control or colonialism. Adam Smith, the author of Wealth of Nations, thought that a) invention was the key to b) wealth and that c) population was a secondary factor. Currently, Julian Simon makes this same argument. Supporting the analysis of Adam Smith and Julian Simon is the fact that one of the most densely populated areas in the world is Europe and Europe is rich. Within Europe is England, also rich, which is far more densely populated than Africa or China. England has 600 people per square mile while Africa, which is poor, averages 22 people per square mile and China has 300. If poverty and overpopulation were linked as cause and effect, Europe, especially England, would be poor, China would be well off and Africa would be rich.(eugenics-Watch.com)
In conclusion: Since present American Obama administration seeks a course designed intitally by John Maynard Keynes,i.e., Keynesian Economics, (Founder of the World Bank)later, Family Planning and the International Planned Parenthood Federation,We The Elite People of culture of corruption in Washington DC are seeking to have America’s ‘collective’ as a colonized mass of serfs, serving Washington DC’s Elite with eugenics and emerging Genetics studies (NSDM314 & NSSM200) and the Human Genome Projects sprouting up around the world... creating a ‘colony of perfect serfs.’ Gosnell is merely one tool in this shed of tools spreading and used around the world. Wake-up. Pray, Amen. This is a PLAN and not one individual ACTION.

Ramesh Ponnuru predicted this with this 2006 book "The Party of Death: The Democrats, the media, the courts and the disregard for Human Life". The most liberal in the party are almost Islamist in thier embrace of death ("we love death more than life"). I can see where it's easy to lose hope when living in the midst of this death cult....but I won't.

"These women are “desperate.” The felt they had “no alternative.” But babies do not come from storks or grow on trees."

Well, that just means you're an OWM (old, white, male) who doesn't understand that the government has a constitutionally enshrined power to enable anybody's sexual behavior! We all know that baby's are just a side-effect of sex!

sarc/off

"Carmon deals with the issue of “women’s health” in a vacuum, safely removed from the personal choices and responsibility of individual women."

Carmon seems to be that type of person who believes that children are some sort of unnatural punishment to sex which is foisted upon women by THE PATRIARCHY. In one of Zombie's excellent photo safaris into the wilds of Looneyville, Zombie shows a woman holding a sign at a pro-choice rally that reads "Pregnancy is not a punishment!" (or something equivalent). Carmon and this sign-holder simply have no grasp of the difference between a punishment and a consequence.

Right.

And you, Mr. and Mrs. Marxist had to commit date rape because there was no publicly funded match site.

And, you had to commit murder, because there was no publicly funded chess club.

And, you had to commit theft, because there was no publicly funded money tree.

And...you have no ethics, no morals, no soul...because the state doesn't have enough tax money to steal one from us...yet.

The good news is, if Ghostbusters ever does another episode...we'll know where to locate the primordial slime. Because for leftists...their river runs through it.
