Here’s a good idea that doesn’t go nearly far enough:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 81% of Likely U.S. Voters feel members of Congress should take a 25% pay cut until the federal budget is balanced. Only 12% disagree.
Only 25%? I might allow them to keep 25 until the budget is balanced. But since so many members of Congress are millionaires and billionaires, they still wouldn’t feel the pinch. So if voters really want the budget balanced — lean in closely, so I can whisper this next part — MAYBE THEY COULD START ELECTING NEW PEOPLE TO CONGRESS.
It’s just a little something I thought of a moment ago. Elections that mean something. Delivering consequences for politicians’ bad actions. Radical, I know.

re-elect no one…should take about 8 years
Sympathetic as I am to the sentiment of not paying our non-performing Senate, it would be illegal without a consitutional amendment. It would be ironic if, after bloviating about the irrelevance of the constitution, the Dems where to envoke it against such a move but the humor would be lost on much of the press, I am sure. The best move at the momemnt seems to be the one the House Republicans do not want to take; no budget, no debit limit increase.
Throw one a day into jail. They are breaking the law by not passing a budget…which obviously doesn’t concern the criminals in the slightest. They got where they are by being liars and cheats, so why change now?
But it’s hard to pick the first one. I guess it would have to be Harry Reid, although there are hundreds of strong contenders.
screw docking their pay
print their addresses
and seize their assets
Yeyah, dock the rascals’ pay for non-performance of duties.
Elect new blood if we can only compete with their machines. Did I read somewhere that Speaker Boehner as Speaker makes $223,500? At that salary many people would compromise their all to stay safely ensconced.
And another suggestion, totally unrealistic, but I think would work wonders on the entrenched corruption in DC. Have the government meet in different state capitals sequentially. They meet too often and as a consequence pass way too many laws infringing freedoms. Make it a part time job and get ‘em the heck outta DC.
Was always in wonderment what a US House of Representative member does for a salary of $174,000. And that doesn’t even include all the perks. That’s roughly $83.70 per hour!!! When has any one of America’s Representatives presented any legislation worth one eight this hourly salary in We The People’s US House of Representatives?
Every piece of legislation passed, the past 50 years has done serious harm and hampered american working class and americas enterprise system. For $83.70/hour We The People should be getting stellar performances…not this “jim-crack” hocus-pocus tom-foolery. Then there’s the “porngate” episodes popping-up all over the place.
Nah! Cut these bozos salaries to $15.00/hour. Make them sweat for the tom-foolery they foist off on We The Working People of America.Pray. Amen.
