Oh. Snap.
“What the president said is not correct,” Woodward told POLITICO Tuesday. “He’s mistaken. And it’s refuted by the people who work for him.”
Including his own defense secretary. Romney quoted Panetta’s spending cut warning nearly word for word during the debate, only to have Obama mock him.
Woodward reports in his book that White House Office of Management Director Jack Lew and Legislative Affairs Director Rob Nabors took the proposal for sequestration to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and then it was presented to congressional Republicans.
During the debate, however, Obama said the idea originated on Capitol Hill.
“First of all, the sequester is not something that I’ve proposed. It is something that Congress has proposed,” Obama said, adding his strongest pronouncement to date on its future: “It will not happen.”
Woodward said there’s a possibility the president was unaware of how the idea came about.
“It’s a complicated process — and in fairness to the president — maybe he didn’t know that they were doing this because it’s kind of technical budget jargon,” Woodward said.
Heh. Isn’t it Obama’s job to get into the “technical budget jargon?” What you have offered is not a defense, Mr. Woodward, it’s a condemnation.

I see “President Romney” written on the wall.
So O’bama lied, or O’bama is lazy, or O’bama is incompetent, or O’bama is ignorant, or O’bozo was preoccupied with golfing, once again, or with the “really big affairs of state”; like, appearing on “The View”, or conferring with some union boss, or making a speech in Cairo, “sleeping on” Abbottabad, or patting Putin’s stand-in’s leg, or making sure the next time “the show is over”, the “mike is off” too, or equating boats with ships, and both with horses and bayonets, or “snarking” Romney inappropriately, or sending thrills up (or down) Chris Matthews’ leg, or throwing somebody under the bus? – The list goes on…
So what else is new?
“The present is the key to the past…” is an old and true maxim from the science of geology. Turned around, it applies equally to humans and their character traits. “The past is key to the future” is wisdom rarely subject to any exceptions, as humans go, certainly not in the short run.
So, given the above, we can expect “four more years” to produce — more of the above. This we do NOT need!
Go Romney!
Thanks. I already wore my keyboard out somewhere else on PJM, tonight.
“Ranting”. Although I like to think of it as “pontificating”.
Alas, don’t we all.
I couldn’t have said it better, or, perhaps, even as well.
Don’t get cocky.
Hit the nail on the head: “Isn’t it Obama’s job get into the ‘technical budget jargon?’ What you have offered is not a defense, Mr. Woodward, it’s a condemnation.”
You’ve summed up Obama, the media and the past four years.
