True the Vote, a Houston-based election integrity group, has turned over to the Justice Department the names of dozens of individuals who have voted twice in the same federal election. Voting twice is a federal felony under 42 U.C.C. 1973i(e). True the Vote is conducting a nationwide examination of individuals with multiple voter registrations in multiple states. A voter may only declare domicile in one place for each election.
We’ll see if Eric Holder’s Justice Department does anything about it.
True the Vote discovered 6,390 people registered in both Florida and Ohio. Of those, 534 appear to have voted twice in the same federal election. The examination also discovered at least 19,000 people registered in both New York and Florida.
Until now, nobody has ever conducted a systemic analysis of the nation’s voter rolls to detect this sort of voter fraud. The Pew Charitable Trust apparently conducted a similar examination – enough to conclude that 2,750,000 bogus voter registrations exist – but never made any referrals to law enforcement authorities.
Citizen volunteers continue to scour public records to find double registratnts and criminal double voters.
True the Vote will continue to examine voter rolls searching for evidence of double registration and voting. Would be law-breakers should take notice before they think about casting two ballots in 2012. Catherine Engelbrecht, President of True the Vote warned would be double voters, “It’s important for voters to remember that no candidate or cause is worth a felony conviction.”
In the past, no group or government agency ever examined voter rolls across 50 states looking for criminal double voting or double registration. This time, however, somebody is watching.

But…but…Leonard Pitts et al tell us there’s no such thing as voter fraud! Voter ID is just a racist plot to suppress the vote!
Wait a minute !
They are disenfranchising schizos with multiple personality disorder !
And writers with multiple pen names! My pen names protest! They pay taxes… why can’t they vote?
Discrimination against the existence impaired!
And this is news to no one. ONLY ONE SIDE fights efforts to make the voting honest after all. You’d have to be a child or terminally stupid NOT to know they’re exploiting the corrupt system.
Gosh, a GOP war on people with multiple personalities. Wait’ll Sandra what’s-her-name hears about this.
I first was introduced to TruetheVote at the Tea Party Patriots convention in Phoenix in 2010. Catherine Engelbrecht and John Fund both spoke about election fraud, and I also spoke with individual volunteers at their vendor display. I was surprised to learn of so many different voter fraud issues and how prevalent they are. Most Americans think of problematic third world elections that require monitoring. I was surprised to find out how important it is to have independent monitoring of our polls and the entire election process here in the U.S.
During the Wisconsin recall petition drive, TruetheVote reviewed citizen signatures and compared them to voter records. I personally participated, remotely via computer/internet, in entering names and addresses into a computer database so that they could compare those with the voter rolls. They found thousands of ineligible and non-existent signatures (57,000 I think, but I can’t find the link to that). I personally saw bogus signatures that did not match names, and after entering many addresses began to see some that did not match the right county with the right city and zip code. I never looked them up, just entered row after row of data, and eventually saw inconsistencies. It was an eye opening experience.
There are ways to help without sending money. You can participate in the voter roll research for example, or other ways, and do so via your computer or in a local election, or more. The website link is here http://www.truethevote.org/
When do you think they might look into the election in Minnesota that put Al Franken in the Senate?
Another source of double voting surely is on college campuses. Kids can register on campus without de-registering in their home state. My kids voted in Ohio (for Bush!) in 2004 as Ohio registered voters at Miami University when they were also Illinois registered voters. They did not vote in Illinois, I hasten to say. It took me two years to get them off the Illinois rolls. My wife and I are Florida residents and voters, but we most certainly could also vote in Illinois where we have a home. I would like to see somebody do a cross search at some place like Wisconsin/Madison to see how many out of state students vote in Wisconsin and their home state.
Be fair now – it might be none of these people voted twice — it is entirely possible somebody else cast one or both of those votes in their name.
” it is entirely possible somebody else cast one or both of those votes in their name.”
Exactly.
Out here in Oregon and Washington we must all vote by mail. And a ballot for every registered voter is sent out in the mail. To college dorms! To P.O. Boxes!
But never fear, we have “voter ID”…When returning the ballot you sign the envelope and some magic computer/person will check your signature against the registered signature. If they match OK your ballot is counted. Don’t worry, they’ll call you if your signature doesn’t match, so you can verify it.
Of course I never see a total of the ballots that were not counted because of unverified/unverifiable signatures. The Democrats are always whining that we must be sure to count every vote.
What could go wrong?
