Within 24 hours of the 9-11 anniversary attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, U.S. intelligence agencies had strong indications al Qaeda–affiliated operatives were behind the attack, and had even pinpointed the location of one of those attackers. Three separate U.S. intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast said the early information was enough to show that the attack was planned and the work of al Qaeda affiliates operating in Eastern Libya.
That is not the story that the Obama administration told to the American people. US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice went on five news shows the weekend following the attack to argue that it was a spontaneous response to a YouTube video. Here is one of those five appearances, on ABC’s This Week.
Rice claims that the attack was not premeditated, as did WH spokesman Jay Carney. We now know that that was not true, and we also know that Rice’s assertion that the FBI was already on the ground investigating the attack was not accurate. CNN was able to get into the compound days after the attack, reporting that it remained unsecured and evidence — Ambassador Stevens’ journal — was lying in the ruins. Obama continues to refuse to label the attack as a terrorist attack, as recently as yesterday’s address to the UN. Obama has shown himself to be more interested in the NFL’s Fail Mary play than in the attacks on Americans and American soil overseas.
It’s at this point that the phrase “cover up” gains currency, but it was obvious on the day of the attacks in Libya and Egypt that terrorists were behind both. The administration was never going to be able to cover this up. But it did attempt to mischaracterize the attack to mislead the American people. The most obvious motive is political — the attacks occurred on American soil, on 9-11, just weeks before the presidential election, leaving four patriots dead, the American flag desecrated, and the United States reeling and humiliated across the Islamic world.
That’s a campaign issue, and it should be. The 3 AM crisis call came in while the whole world was watching, and the Obama administration let the phone ring far too long and then lied to the American people about the substance of the call.
Of course this administration had to lie about the attack: by saying that it was not a pre-planned terrorist attack they avoid the truth about themselves, i.e. that
this administration cannot defend America.
And they have proven that over and over again, from the Fort Hood attack, that was allowed to happen by “political correctness” (and that Obama commented with “let’s not rush to conclusions”) up until today.
Terrorists and enemies are raising their heads everywhere, because they know that this administration has not the will to defend America.
Team Obama knew that Romney made a big deal out of the Cairo embassy messages about the pathetic YouTube video, so they don’t want to separate, in voters’ minds, the Cairo screwup from the Benghazi screwup by saying that it has no connection to that protest that the media told us “Romney was dead wrong about,” even though he wasn’t.
Or simply, a few dead bodies aren’t to get in the way of Obama’s re-election.
President “Mommy Issues” doesn’t “do” foreign policy, Hillary Clinton is President of US Foreign Policy meetings.
President “Mommy Issues” doesn’t “do” fiscal policy, Nancy Pelosi is in charge of face-palming him and telling him when or if they need his input.
President “Mommy Issues” doesn’t make decisions about who to entertain at the White House, Valerie Jarrett is the President of Foreign and Domestic Relations.
President “Mommy Issues” doesn’t make decisions about securing our embassies and consulates, Susan Rice is the President of our interactions on the world stage.
President “Mommy Issues” doesn’t attend intel briefings, or meet with ANY world leaders, he goes on The View with President Michele, who determines his calendar and which items are of national importance.
Since Harry Reid resembles the Church Lady from SNL, he suffices to fulfill the desperate “Mommy Issues” need for the vicious attack dog, with no scruples.
Obama is not a President, he is a cardboard cutout of a President. He doesn’t “do” the President “thing”, he does the campaigning thing and the teleprompter thing…and don’t ask him to do much else.
He skips briefings, doesn’t meet with world leaders, lets Pelosi write legislation, has the Clintons carry the heavy issues, has Harry Reid block all Republican attempts to pass curative laws, and when does turn in his homework…he can’t get even a single vote from his own side, it’s so unserious and slopped together.
The Great Pretender and The Plagiarist make quite the ticket. The job of the Democratic Party (other than to boo God, hiss at Jerusalem and control their lapdog media) is to cover up the dirty little secret. Obama is shirking all his responsibilities and nobody trusts Biden to do anything but fondle biker chicks.
The top of the Democratic Party ticket is a mirage. All image, no substance.
The good little media lapdogs help destroy the country by simultaneously hiding the truth and fabricating lies and distortions about the loyal opposition.
President “Mommy Issues” throws a tantrum if you ask him a tough question. Jay Smarmy feeds the press a steady stream of evasions and parsed words. No wonder the Democrats felt that opposition to their positions and policies was a “war on women”. All the policies and positions were really Obama Mama’s picking up his slack and running the country in the vacuum he has left behind.
His job is to read the teleprompter and drink Ace of Spades. The Campainer and Champagner isn’t asked to “do” the Presidency. Maybe that’s a good thing in the short term. And it gives a new explanation as to why he always “skirts” the issues.
