A racist comment may have ripple effects after airing on the Fox News Channel this afternoon. Democrat strategist Jehmu Greene and the Daily Caller’s Tucker Carlson appeared on Megyn Kelly’s show America Live, when Greene went after Carlson personally. Twitter lit up immediately:
After a commercial break, Kelly reappeared and said that she had consulted with producers to find out if she heard Greene say “what she thought she heard.” Kelly then apologized to Carlson on behalf of herself and the Fox News Channel for Greene’s insult.
What remains to be seen is if there will be any additional fallout for Jehmu Greene. NBC will not have to creatively edit it to make it sound racist. Her comment, reversed in any way, would have created an instant firestorm on the left. Media Matters would have republished its entire dossier on Carlson, and may in fact do that in an effort to defend Jehmu Greene. As of this writing, Greene has not apologized for her comment.

ANY white commentator that made a similar comment to a black guest would be FIRED (at least suspended) from Fox News. Ms. Greene is not that important and it was apparently a mistake to hire her. Fox News needs to cut their losses now and get rid of her…..

And as others have said, if Tucker had used a racial slur against Jehmu there would have already been calls for his reprimand and worse from liberals everywhere. I think Fox is looking out for the Fairness Doctrine to come around again under Zero’s re-election. So they are trying to place themselves in the middle-to-left sphere.
There is little doubt in my mind that they are acting preemptively (“better safe than sorry”), but it’s a mistake because they are not giving consideration to themselves as being equal time; therefore, they should be exempt from the “requirement” of offering said “equal time.”
It’s truly amazing to me how well the left, for years, has honed its capacity to wield an incredible amount of power in its quest to control “the message,” & therefore its hold on public opinion. Conservatives, as a general rule, have allowed themselves to be intimidated by this immense power. But like the top-tier surfer’s capacity to conquer the 50-foot waves & live to see the evening in which he can tell his story, conservatives must step up to the plate & find a way to suck enough oxygen out of the arena of ideas & policies in order to become serious players. There is lots of institutional racism. Every time the government asks for your race they doit so they can discriminate on the basis of race. Everytime someone gets special treatment because of their race its racist. It should be illegal for the government to ask a persons race or keep track of their race except for wanted posters.

For institutional racism, which seems to be a concept you are not clear about, you have to go to actual INSTITUTIONS. That means laws, colleges, respected or at least venerable mainstream organizations. After that, you have to identify such mainstream groups that are racialist as a definition of who they either fundamentally are or support.
I am unaware of a single mainstream law, or group, organized around the concept of race the Right supports. Not one mind you. Tell me just one. Or tell me just one racialist teacher at a college in America who is on TV every week who conspicuously supports white people – just one.

I go by what I see out there; so far in my experience, the most blatant displays of “institutional racism” favor the blacks. Example: College student registration/administration offices in areas where the black population might be close to 25% but over 90% of those seen in the offices are black. Another example: Hospital admissions office in city where blacks might be 25-30% but over 90% of the people seen processing hospital admissions are black.

A few months back, Tucker Carlson said something inappropriate on Fox; he apologized right away and that ended it. Given Ms. Green’s unawareness of her offense, I think she should at least be sent off to sensitivity training.

I’ve thought about this a bit more and this situation provides a teachable moment on the difference between hypocrisy (claiming virtues one does not possess) and fraud (using deceit to gain an advantage).
We all know we won’t hear a peep from civil rights leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on Ms. Green’s racial slur. As with so many times in the past, various talking heads in the media will likely point out the hypocrisy and then, thinking they’ve done their job, look smug for doing so.
But this is not hypocrisy; it is fraud. Frederick Douglass was a civil rights advocate and MLK Jr. was a civil rights leader. Jackson and Sharpton are race advocates hiding behind a facade of civil rights. Like so many on the left, they use noble-sounding language to hide their agenda. Did the National Organization of Women rally behind Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman? Of course not, because they are not for “women”, they are only for progressive women. So, let’s call them NOPW. Jehmu Green’s Womens Media Center complained about the liberal media’s treatment of conservative women only after it was shamed into doing so. Again, let’s change the name from WMC to PWMC. Those, like Nancy Pelosi, who support OWS on free speech grounds but condemn the Tea Party aren’t for free speech – they are for promoting progressive messaging. Fox News has some of the most annoying lib commentators on cable. Chris Hahn, who was an aide to Chuck U. Shumer, is the poster boy for wild eyed liberals or in close competition with Howard Dean. Pretty much their whole line-up of lefty commentators are uber annoying, and unfortunately they keep adding to the list.
I find myself turning the channel or watching recordings and speeding past their comments. Being a news junkie, I thought for years I could not get by without Fox News, but recently I have changed my mind, and have decided to cut the cord on cable. I will be using the internet as my news source, and Roku/Netflix for entertainment. I figure I will save $1200+ a year, and have a much better attitude on life.

You can also look at the Fox News website and pick the items of interest. But I would miss Special Report and the Journal Editorial Report. Also, regarding Fox having the most annoying liberal commentators – have you seen Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Al Sharpton, Mike Brzezinski, Fareed Zakaria, Soledad O’Brien, and Piers Morgan? My goodness. To me, the most annoying person on Fox is Bill O’Reilly – it seems he just keeps getting more arrogant and strident.

I’ve always thought she was seething under her affected pleasant exterior with anger and hatred toward anyone who had the audacity to disagree with her.
