Trust the Los Angeles (“Khalidi Tapes”) Times to take every opportunity to protect the “unsullied” reputation of St. Barack Obama. Latest: today’s article on the Mormonism of Mitt Romney includes this gem:
George W. Bush is a born-again Christian; President Obama has been a regular church-goer for decades; Jimmy Carter taught Sunday school. But no previous president or serious candidate can rival Romney for the time and energy spent in running a religious organization and ministering to its members.
“President Obama has been a regular church-goer for decades”? Say what? Let’s leave aside the eye roller that with “regular” church-going Obama was still somehow able to miss the multiple racist and anti-American excrescences of his pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright (or so the then candidate assured us) and cut straight to the chase – the life of our president since he has been in the White House.
From Time Magazine (Dec. 23, 2009) – No Church-Going Christmas for the First Family:
But there’s one common Christmas practice not on the First Family’s schedule: a visit to Christmas Eve church services.
Church, in fact, has been a surprisingly tough issue for the Obamas. They resigned their membership with Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in 2008 after Obama renounced the church’s controversial former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. And while the First Family intended to find a local church to attend when they moved to Washington, concerns about crowds and displacing regular worshippers has prevented them from finding a new religious home during their first year here.
Believe what you will of the last sentence and then move on to Ben Smith in Politico, roughly a year later (Sept. 2010):
President Barack Obama, beset by substantial public doubts about his religion and right-wing suspicions that he is Muslim, took a few steps on Sunday to dispel those image problems: He and his family crossed Lafayette Park to St. John’s Episcopal Church, just the third time he has worshipped in public since he became president last year.
I don’t think Obama’s a Muslim. I don’t think he’s anything. He’s more than likely an agnostic who attends church when he has to for political expediency. America is a largely religious country, after all. He certainly is not a regular church-goer, unless three times a year constitutes regular.
Of course, this is all quite obvious and the folks at the LAT know it as well as I do. So they lie or gild the lily or prevaricate or whatever you want to call it to protect their man, even in relatively monitor situations like this. It is engrained in them. They are probably not capable of writing or even seeing the truth.
To do something as significant as producing the Khalidi Tapes would probably cause the institution to have a breakdown.

Agreed Roger. Though I think Obama a Muslim sympathizer, I don’t believe he is Muslim. Like you, I feel Obama is what he needs to be at any particular moment in time. Trinity was political expediency.
One thing I’m am convinced – Jews are required for the campaign stash, but the feeling is palpable there ain’t a greed degree of love from Saint Barack.
I find it impossible to believe anything about Obama except that his is a hell bent on destroying a perfectly good country. Not through incompetence, although he rates high in that area, but intentionally.
Obama can’t be a Muslim or a Christian.
To be either one means that one must believe in a being above one’s self.
Obama can’t conceive of anyone above himself.
Q. E. D.
Yup that.
I’m waiting for the second appearance of that Greek column thing.
I remember the same media dumped on Reagan because he didn’t go to church. Reagan did have a minister come to the WH but if you’re a Republican you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Don’t be obtuse, Roger. The LAT meant that Obama has in the past gone to a church, and the prunes are working for him. So he’s a regular church-goer.
I believe you’re right, Roger. I don’t think Obama is a Muslim or a believing Christian, and he may well be agnostic. I don’t have a problem with that, but I do expect an agnostic president to at least have a set of positive values that are congruent with the people he leads. I don’t think Obama has even that. His only value seems to be himself, that and nothing more.
Obama has a religion. It is called leftism.
He is a Fabian Marxist.
His mother believed that religion was a curiosity to be studied, like a dinosaur bone.
When he got to Chicago, he needed to build street cred in the black community and went shopping for a place that was activist, not passive…but Farrakhan was too notorious to those “gutter religion” folks and the “garlic noses”.
So, Obama chose the next best thing. His dearest and closest friends were Michael Pfleger and his mentor, idol…father figure…was Jeremiah Wright.
Outside of Farrakhan, Pfleger and Wright…Obama had little interest in organized religion for the whole of his adult life. True, as a child in Jakarta he studied the Koran. But, as an adult…there is not an ounce of evidence to suggest he used religion to guide his principles…he used militant associations to guide his ambitions. Still does.
He is NOT a “regular” in the sense implied by the co-conspiratorial LA Times.
Religion is not a tool of faith or morality…it is a tool of warfare…for Barack Obama.
I stopped subscribing to the LA Times at the same time I gave up being a Democrat and became a Republican. it was so ;liberating to shed that daily burden of reading the lies, deceits and twisted facts the Times dished up as “news”. Nothing Pres. Bush did or said was positive or worthwhile; nothing our troops did was honorable, and nothing Republicans believed was respectable. And the veiled anti-Semitism of its incessant anti-Israel jihad was sickening. Basta! Enough! Would that the Times disappear into the ether of other failed “progressive” big city newspapers.
– “It’s the LA Times, Roger.”
I can’t speak for what goes on at Christian services, including Rev. Wright’s parish, but I’ve noticed in synagogues there is sometimes a movement towards the lobby when the rabbi gets ready to deliver his sermon. Maybe Obama simply never was in the pews when Rev.Wright spoke.
I think Obama is truly, deeply committed to the racist, Marxist BS Wright shovels out.
That would require him to accept a higher power outside of himself.
He’s the messiah, remember?
Whitewash is what these journalistic frauds now buy by the barrel.
I call it lying. No need to gild that lilly
Obama prays multiple times a day, every time he stands in front of a mirror.
President Obama is too cool to be one of those bitter troglodytes who cling to guns or religion.
