Cain campaign round one:
Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said Thursday night that the campaign asked for the protection after The Washington Post posted an article online that morning detailing a series of physical skirmishes involving journalists at Cain rallies.
The Cain campaign asked for the security and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and congressional leaders approved the request Thursday, said a government official, requesting anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the issue.
Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan confirmed that agents would be providing security for Cain, but declined to say what the security would entail or what prompted the decision. The agency rarely comments publicly on security operations.
Gordon would not say how many Secret Service agents would be positioned with Cain, but the spokesman said the coverage began Thursday night in New York, where Cain taped an interview on the “Late Show with David Letterman.”
On the campaign trail, Cain “draws anywhere from a dozen to 50 media at his events,” Gordon said. “When he gets out at a rally or a campaign stop, it has been increasingly common for media to be physically putting themselves and others in danger by trying to follow him with a lot of heavy equipment and cameras in close quarters like we saw yesterday.”

Herman Cain’s campaign is pushing back against the suggestion it requested Secret Service protection as a way to keep media at bay and limit the access reporters will have to the candidate.
“It has nothing to do with the media, it has nothing to do with reporters,” campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon said of the request for Secret Service protection.
Gordon said the campaign had requested protection “a couple weeks ago” after having received a series of threats. But Gordon said he would not comment on the nature of the threats or any specific instances.
2008 was about getting a President who was was not really eligible to be president. The powers that be succeeded in convincing enough to vote for a man who was not a true natural born citizen and then succeeded in redefining natural born citizen by bullying everyone into submission through charges of racism and derangement. This time around, someone is trying to get people to support someone that is not even wanting the job apparently. I never saw Cain’s conservative side, people kept saying it was there, I kept asking and looking for it, but to no avail. Why would people be so adamant about a man’s ideology that they are not even able to articulate it in writing? Is this just another undermining of America election like 2008 was?

There are a thousand stories and angles you could do on Cain or Gingrich or any conservative candidate. So why do you go with the exact same editorial narrative that their ideological enemies use at any MSM left wing site? Your latest blurb on Gingrich is of the same ilk: “Jack Abramoff says Gingrich is Corrupt”. Really? That was the mast salient thing you could say about Gingrich’s candidacy? I doubt it, so yeah, witless seems to fit pretty well. Maybe, for the benefit of the doubt, I should use “unwitting”. Is that better?
You’d be wise to read past the headlines before name calling. Or, just go read some other site if you don’t like this one.
Bryan, I gave you real, substantive information about Cain and you ignored it. Why don’t you write about this paramount reason taxpayers should NOT trust Cain with their taxes? In that article and its linked lawsuit, you will find MUCH more reason for Republicans to ditch Cain than you will ever find in a passing media frenzy.
And then you will LEAD with information instead of follow the masses before you.
Preston is practically working for the Perry campaign. He is so pro Perry that he is almost aligning himself with the democrats against the other republican candidates. Like in “my enemy’s enemy is my friend”.
I don’t think Preston is credible on this site. He’s also using the same excuses as the liberal left media. They are telling the truth, yes. They are using exact quotes, yes. But ONLY when it fits their agenda and hurts the enemy. In Preston’s case the enemy right now is any republican candidate who is not Rick Perry. And if a candidate has said anything insulting about Perry like in the case of Cain or Romney it becomes almost a personal vendetta for Preston.
