On the current House Oversight Committee inquiry, Congresswoman Jackie Speier asked ATF agents if there should be a law requiring gun stores to report multiple sales of long guns.
Speier used the justification that we currently have a law about buying quantities of Sudafed to target meth dealers. Here’s the logic: Since the government regulates this, we should regulate that.
ATF admitted they sent out a demand letter to firearms retailers, asking for reports whenever somebody buys two or more long guns greater than .22 caliber. If dealers don’t participate, license revocation can ensue.

Seems to me they should only have to report when the purchaser is a gov’t agent. The problem here isn’t dealers or citizens, it’s the government buying guns to smuggle them to criminals in Mexico.
Yeah, the buyer should be made to sign a statement to the effect that Eric Holder didn’t give him money to come in the store and buy guns. That man is a danger to society.
This operation was about gun control from the start. Cummins, Norton and Speier are forging ahead with that agenda. It is ridiculously transparent.
Worse still is the evasiveness the ATF agents are engaging in.
I still contend that this operation is terrorism perpetrated on the American people to create a need for gun control.
Tyranny is always established in the name of law and order. To justify that you must first have chaos. Obama and Holder flooded the criminal underworld with guns to create bloody chaos.
Dont worry Mrs. Brady, he is working ‘under the radar’.
The old media that loves the organizer in chief jumps all over Sara Palin for any mistake she makes but ignores the fact the DOJ is selling guns to Mexican cartels in order to say that they are getting their guns from us. In order to erode a right that they can’t outright ban. Screw you media!!!
Greetings:
I live and vote in the good Congressperson’s district, a couple of soviets south of San Francisco. Our little town (40K population) is a typical “bedroom” community primarily due to the local geography. There is very little in the way of developed commercial or business enterprises, thus, not a whole lot of sales tax revenue coming in to the municipality, a pretty much perennial problem.
A couple of years ago, a businessperson wanted to open a gun shop in one of our local shopping centers. The local “guns aren’t nice” crowd sprang into action, led by the “Two Mommies” and assisted by the head of the local school district. They were concerned about the obvious and significant danger to their progeny and customers and, at the governmental oversight meeting, expressed their need/desire/wish/requirement that this businessperson make his living somewhere outside our municipal geography.
This was an opportunity that my youth in the Bronx would not let me avoid. After listening to the “Two Mommies” histrionics and our professional educator’s pontifications, I rose to add my two bits. I alerted our local government to the inherent danger of gun shops, specifically, that on more than several occasions, while visiting gun shops, I had slipped and almost fallen due to all the body fluids from the children murdered outside those evil emporia. The danger here, or soon to be here, was, obviously, both clear and present.
It, unfortunately, no longer surprises me that with absolutely no fact base, but a ton of hysterical emotion “Two Mommies” and a supposedly educated government functionary would appoint themselves “Holders of Truth” and interfere with someone’s method of earning a living. Love is a beautiful thing.
