Report: Tsunami causes heavy damage, casualty in Crescent City, CA

More than 30 boats were destroyed in Crescent City this morning after a tsunami triggered by a 8.9 magnitude Japanese earthquake hit the California and Oregon coasts.

“We had 30-plus boats totaled and our harbor and docks were extremely damaged,” said a very busy Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher who identified himself as John at 10:15 a.m.

Fox just reported that four people were swept out to sea by the tsunami, which exceeded 8 feet, and that one is dead.
