Who’s Worse — Al Gore or Bernie Madoff?
Forgotten or semi-forgotten in the hullabaloo over Al Gore netting a cool hundred million from the sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera is that back in 2009 the ex-veep was on his way to being the first carbon billionaire off global warming.
It’s unclear how close he came to accomplishing that goal, but it’s a safe bet he didn’t do badly, considering his lifestyle. (Well, this house apparently went to Tipper in the breakup.)
Whatever else he is, Gore is arguably a business genius when it comes to generating massive amounts of income from dubious enterprises and, unlike Bernie Madoff, getting away with it.
Okay, Current TV wasn’t completely a scam. It was just a boring television network that hardly anybody wanted to watch. Nevertheless, when Gore and his partners sold it to Al Jazeera for 500 million they were selling the network (and its U.S. bandwidth) to a company owned by the state of Qatar, a country that derives fifty percent of its income from the one thing Al Gore supposedly most reviles — fossil fuels. Not only that, Al Jazeera, especially in its Arabic broadcasts, excuses al-Qaeda and consistently supports Sharia law and its consequent extreme misogyny and homophobia. And, of course, opposes the separation of church and state. How very “progressive”!
If, in the words of La Rochefoucauld, “Hypocrisy is the homage that vice pays to virtue,” then Gore is one of the greatest “homageurs” or all time.
But does he deserve to be compared to the felonious Madoff? Well, consider this: Bernie Madoff undoubtedly did not set out to bilk a number of rich people, not to mention several not so rich and also some charities, out of their savings. He probably thought his great financial expertise was going to make them all a lot of money. It is only when his expertise deserted him, that he went down the road to perdition, failing to notify his clients of impending economic disaster, robbing Peter to pay Paul, while pretending all was well.
Gore is oddly similar. Years ago, he undoubtedly believed anthropogenic global warming was taking us to planetary armageddon. (Ironically, he had much less right to his conclusions than Madoff, because Gore was less of an expert in his field by considerable degrees. In fact, he was a failure in science as an undergraduate and had to rely entirely on the opinions of others, scientists who had everything to gain from the subvention of the global warming industry.)
When revelations like the Climategate emails appeared, Gore ignored or derided them. After all, by that point, he was deeply involved in setting up carbon exchanges in Europe and the USA. Billions of dollars were involved and international policies at play that would cost billions, even trillions, more while dominating and distorting the global economy. These numbers made Madoff seem trivial.
The recent dispute over the latest warming figures from the British MET office make the commitment of sums of this titanic size seem like a form of mega-theft from global (largely American, one assumes) taxpayers.
And yet that is what Al Gore wanted.
He has been on the wrong side of everything — first making AGW into a phony catastrophe and now introducing the mouthpiece of Sharia into American homes, while personally gaining hundreds of millions in the process.
What a guy.
And you thought Bernie Madoff was bad.

Imagine how much worse it would have been if Gore was Jewish. Just sayin’.
Thank God for small favors …
sure he isn’t?
Yes. And, it was bought by Israel. What a stupid and ignorant time this is. there should be a song like that.
Able to guzzle more energy than dozens of normal men! Producing more hot air than a locomotive!! Able to pile up carbon credits higher than a tall building in a single bound!!! Look UP in the sky! It’s ChickenLittle! It’s FlyingSnakeOilSalesman! It’s the Sultan of Hanging Chads! It’s the Ayatollah of Heat! It’s the High Priest of the Inquisition! It’s the Doctor of Doom! No, it’s CarbonMan in a private jet painted green! And now following in the tradition of other great men such as Jimmy Carter and Yasir Arafat, he is the proud recipient of a Nobel Prize!!! CarbonMan, strange visitor from an alternate reality who came to Earth with claims and scary predictions far beyond those of any sane and honest man, disguised as Fat Albert, and now joined by other members of the Royal GreenLeague such as BioFuelHummerMan and EcoCleaningWoman, they all fight a never ending battle for science-fiction, hypocrisy, power grabbing, money grubbing and the Hollywood way!
Well done, FeralCat. You need to find someone who can draw cartoons – you have the makings of a great Conservative comic book (perhaps that is how we can get to the low information voters – make fun of the liberals and fascists in comic books).
anAL GOREtentive is worse…at least Madoff is in prison where he belongs…which is better then being house queer for the Muslim Brotherhood
I completely agree, Robbins. Gore is by far worse, and for the same reason you say.
I thought that was BHO’s bailiwick, not Algore’s.
As Thomas Jefferson might say – What would be the effect of this Global Warming fraud and coercion, if successful? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. Al Gore and the Global Warming fraudsters converted simple changes in the weather into an engine for enslaving mankind to filch wealth and power to themselves. They, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Scientists.
Madoff didn’t make movies to indoctrinate school kids. And he wasn’t awarded a Nobel Prize for his scams.
The over-inflated Mr.Gore is less a ‘homageur’ and more a ‘frotteur’ if you ax me, RL.
This is beginning to smell like a well funded scheme by the oil producers to keep other countries from producing their own oil/gas.
The produces fund an anti fracking film.
US government restricts drilling and production. Oil producers are suspected of massive, illegal, campaign donations.
Fake environmental corporations (“NGO”) oppose coal, natural gas and nuclear, while claiming to promote totally impractical energy sources like solar and wind, leaving us with only oil from the current oil producers.
I am thee Goracle thine Oracle.
ONE: You shall have no other Oracles before Me.
TWO: You shall not make for yourself any carbon images–any likeness of anything carbon that is in heaven above, or of anything carbon that is in the earth beneath, or anything carbon that is in the water under the earth.
THREE: You shall not ever take the name of thee Goracle thine Oracle in vain.
FOUR: Remember My birthday, and keep it carbon free unless you have credits that you bought from Me.
FIVE: Honor Me instead of your father and your mother especially if they don’t believe in Global Warming.
SIX: You shall not ever malign Me or else you be apostates.
SEVEN: You shall not commit adultery with My wife, but I can with your wife and daughters and goats.
EIGHT: You shall not ever steal My carbon credits.
NINE: You shall not raise any challenges to the most holy doctrine of Global Warming.
TEN: You shall not covet any of My mansions; you shall not covet My private jets, nor My SUV’s, nor My pizza, nor My Krispe Kreame dounuts, nor My Biggie Fries, nor My hot fudge sundaes.
Madoff at least was honest that his primary goal in life was to make money. He didn’t do it legally, but at his core he was always honest about the fact that he wanted to make lots of money. THAT was no secret.
Gore, on the other hand, always wrapped his insatiable desire for vast wealth in this climate scam, claiming that he was only doing it to save the planet. The mere fact that he was making about a billion dollars in the process was beside the point. He was due this money because he was unselfishly “saving the planet,” don’t ch’ya know.
Worse, he was pushing a polical climate control carbon tax agenda that would impoverish large nations to give money to smaller nations, the ultimate act of redistribution of wealth being forced on people (which is ironic coming from a rabid capitalist like Gore). It is socialism on a global scale, since the money would be forcibly obtained from larger countries through onerous global carbon taxes. Taxes, by the way, Gore stood to make a fortune off of since his group of “investors” controlled a lot of the carbon credits that were being offered for sale at the time. Gore stood to make a fortune, all under the guise of “saving the planet.”
Gore is a hideous man and it seems incredible that he came so close to being president. Seems only right that the same political party that gave you this lowlife also gave us moral midgets like John Edwards, Bill Clinton, and Obama. Republicans should make much more out of this corruption, just like Obama’s “green initiatives” that give millions of dollars to corrupt companies like Solyndra and Fisker. The Democrats really should be held accountable for this.
Do not give absolution to the “Republicans”. They are dishonest in their intentions and will not honestly repudiate the Democrats as they are the other side of the same bad penny. Both major parties are conspiring to enslave the people through economic war on the general population. Yes, there are exceptions in the House and Senate, but they are small in number and not very effective in the battle to return to Constitutional rule of law.
right, they don’t wanna, and this is why -http://www.artonissues.com/2011/12/our-unrepresentative-representation/pie-chart-congress-millionaires-3/
That Gore sale to Al-Jazeera kept reminding me of the implications of a troubling NAS report from last summer called “Computing Research for Sustainability.” Apart from its very troubling vision of a planned economy in the US and globally centered on Sustainability that the tech companies would help assemble and manage using their data bases and supercomputers, it raised using media to create what it called a sustainability action agenda. Consensus news stories put up to manipulate the public to take political action whenever desired by the planners. It was one of those reports that should have never been put in print.
http://www.invisibleserfscollar.com/blending-sustainability-and-education-to-gain-arational-nonlinear-minds-and-new-behaviors/ explains that report and its implications for “greening through IT” as well as using education to destroy the rational, logical mind of the Enlightenment previously cherished in the West.
Honestly with all the Statist Schemes out there to take down capitalism and Individualism and stealthily gut the Constitution that made us exceptional, I think Madoff and Gore have plenty of company for misleading the masses on real intentions. At tremendous financial benefit to the politically connected with the right attitudes.
Couldn’t agree more. Your assertion is worthy of a book or two. Gore is just the bizarro canary in the coal mine of a sweeping worldwide trend toward oligopoly in the financial portion of our world. Rather than dieing as the suffocation of true capitalism spreads, Gore gets fatter in the fat cells and the bank accounts.
Madoff is far worse. Get a grip people.
Gore is far worse. Get a grip, Paul.
Madoff’s immediate impact was worse than Gore’s. But if Gore had been successful in his carbon schemes how much of an impact would he have had? Granted, he would have been screwing people and countries “legally” (but surely, given his hypocrisy, not morally). Madoff apparently realized what he was doing was wrong and in now in prison. The Gorester will never do that, and will continue to line his pockets using whatever schemes he can think of (I wonder if his ex-wife had to sign an agreement to keep her mouth shut in return for support). Using the moral relativism schtick that liberals love so much, I would say that Bernie and Al are equally despicable and inhumane.
At least Madoff never tried to have Congress pass laws forcing us to contribute to his scam. That seems to be the central point of Gore’s fraud – push junk science to scare the moron pols into requiring national victimhood. And they’re stupid enough to do it.
I haven’t seen anyone asking the following questions anywhere in the media:
1. From a pure business perspective, was Current TV worth $500 million?
2. If not, why would Al-Jazeera buy it?
3. Does it have anything to do with the fact that OPEC is the major worldwide competitor with America in petroleum production?
4. Did Al Gore’s prominence in suppressing American petroleum production play a role in Al-Jazeera’s decision?
5. In short, was it a payoff to Gore for past and future propagandizing in favor of environmental policies that hurt America’s petroleum industry and help OPEC’s?
6. Where exactly did the $500 million come from?
The MSM looks at events like this and thinks in the narrowest possible perspective. But what worries me is how OPEC, Al-Jazeera, the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, etc., have all been playing the long game. Al-Jazeera buying Current might be part of that.
An apple does not fall far from the tree. The Goreacle’s father was a successful crooked politician in one of worst hotbeds of corrupted politics in the Old South.
Some friends of the family did business with his old man, back in the day.
They never went into detail about exactly what happened, but they were telling everyone they knew not to vote for jr back in ’00.
Glad you brought that up, Old School. Here’s another thing most people don’t know about good ol’ Al: He’s filthy rich from oil money because of his father. Armand Hammer (much beloved of Stalin, incidentally) of Occidental used to brag that he had Sen. Gore Senior “in his pocket,” and the quid of that pro quo was big oil money for the Gore family. Gore Senior died as vice chairman of Oxy Pete with a major holding in the stock, and Al and family got a lot of oil money from his will — just as the Gores always got money from the industry for extraction. Google “Gore and Occidental” to get the details. I’ve sent these links to my “green” friends, and they just close their eyes and put their hands over their ears. No fair fighting hot air with facts! If there were a Nobel for hypocrisy, Gore would be a shoo-in.
Don’t the Gores also have serious tobacco money?
I was and remain a big fan of Steve Jobs, but Steve failed to recognize Al Gore for the scammer he is. Steve put Al Gore on the Apple board, where he unfortunately remains. His Apple connection probably added to Al’s considerable fortune.
Al’s Google pals gave him millions in prefered stock.
Jon Corzine is worse than Madoff, and Al Gore worse than Corzine. And worse still are those who celebrate and laud evil.
Yesterday Bill Clinton received the Father of the Year award by The National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, Stuart M. Goldblatt, President, Laurie Dowley (famous lesbian), chairman.
Yet worst of all, the most dangerous of all, are those who allow evil to prosper, unremarked, uncaring, unwilling to get involved. And compared to those cold people the Clintons and Obamas should be celebrated. BECAUSE of such cold people perhaps Evil for a while should be made king. I pray not, yet the prayers of others are to dine and party with the most publicly notorious, to inspire a adulation for what is and will be horribly destructive behavior in the weak and poor, celebrating the powerful, wealthy and famous whose unchecked and unrebuked failings are in those personages that which makes them most beloved.
Yesterday, 9 January 2013, calendar Gregorian, over 5,000 babies were born in the US to single moms, and most of them to a life of future hardships just for the fact of having no Dad married to a Mom.
dingdingding you are the winner!
Al Gore netting a cool hundred million from the sale of Current TV
Whatever Al-Jazzy paid they outbid the next potential buyer by whatever they paid.
So capitalism worked and we are all whining about it. Right? Not according to Glen Beck. He offered more but they didn’t sell to him for ideological reasons. Welcome to post-capitalism.
The green scam has been a smokescreen the entire time….so you would never read Gaddafi’s Green Book. A short, approximately 30 page or so document also known as the Third Revolutionary Theory, a solution for the problem with democracy. See for yourself.
http://www.greencharter.com/files/gb.htm
Don’t you guys get it? You need to speak Algoreazerra.
Western oil, especially American oil bad; Arab oil money really good
Your SUV’s are bad; my personal aircraft and limos are good
Your big house is bad; my big houses are good
Your eating too much food is bad; my eating too much food is good
Your chasing the massage lady around the table; bad, my chasing her is good
Nah…..these guys did not get corrupted by power, they were corrupt from the beginning. Madoff ran Nasdaq and the game their was for the biggest firms to pad their pockets and keep the smaller firms from growing. It was a pyramid from the beginning. Madoff was trusted because each big investor thought he knew the big guy and would be at the top of the pyramid (how corrupt Wall Street works daily).
Gore grew up in Democratic power circles and learned the game early. He believes in the values of the Democratic party less than anyone here who hates the Democrats and what they stand for. He knows as only experience can teach it is all a game and the winner gets rich.
Who is worse? Only Gore because was closer to the political sphere where he had a freer hand to create the rules and be nuzzled by the media. They are same and deserve to share a cell (in an Egyptian prison).
I say Madoff is worse.
Al Gore has never ripped off anyone I like or respect in any way.
Then you must not like or respect anyone because Fat Al has hurt the entire world – excepting perhaps those who personally profit from AGW industry schemes around the world.
Fat Gore is 1000 times worse than Maddof. Unlike Bernie who stole from his countryman, Gore sold his country’s asset (airwaves) to its enemy’s mouthpiece.
Bernie may be thief but is not a traitor like Fat Al.
Thanks for mentioning that American portion of the broadband frequency bandwidth. That’s an electronic finite quantity (correct me, and expand on this, please, electronic geeks out there…). That has far more treachery-potential for Muslim infiltration and penetration than mere crass millions of cash.
Our multi-faceted Muslim enemies like nothing better than such a stealth-wedge legally and openly obtained via American naivetee’. [cf: mosques and madrassas]
Maybe some legal geeks can get together with electronic geeks to cite this bandwidth acquisition as a national security issue. Gore’s lawyers no doubt researched this, but other lawyers salivate over finding unnoticed openings in opponents’ strategies.
Selling our electronic bandwidth to a self declared enemy certainly is more sinister than mere polluting “rights”. Right?????
The right will continue to attack Gore to deflect attention away from their own guilt for stealing the 2000 election. Rent-a-riot anyone?
Thanks for reminding me of Al “keep recounting the ballots until I win.” Gore. Bush didn’t steal anything and if anything kept Gore from cheating.
Don’t say your sorry, I know you love me Hillie.
The evidence of a 2000 presidential election being stolen was never produced. It will never be either. Back to your rock.
The Dems are quick learners, however, judging by the 2012 election, with key parts of the country 100%, 104%, and 108% for Obama! There have been many previous elections where the total votes in some districts exceeded the population of eligible voters, but it was never obvious which side was doing the cheating: gloating Dems or desperate Reps? 2012 was a historic first – where the vote for a single candidate exceeded the population of eligible voters.
Please see above-2000 was the Dem excuse to bring us rigged electronic
voting machines using Chavismo Venezuelan software
Qatar does not want the USA to expand fracking for enough natural gas to compete with Qatar for the export LNG market.
2013 will be the year of raging debate over expansion of fracking in the USA.
Now Gore can pivot Qatari money to the anti-fracking “cause”.
Yet, is there any other path to USA job growth NOW than expanding fracking?
The people who were conned have some responsibility for their decisions.
The difference between Gore and Madoff is that Gore isn’t stealing from the wrong people. See: Corzine.
The State of Quatar is a financial and political backer of the blacklisted terrorist organization Hamas. There ought to be some sort of criminal charges for doing business with their propoganda wing.
well, when i consider that the inventor of the internet is married to the hag who tried to get music banned then then winner is —alger
Was married to… apparently the “crazed sex poodle” wasn’t against all forms of drilling on unauthorized territory.
Guys – I pointed out the Madoff / Gore comparison in August 2011: “The Great Global Warming Ponzi Scheme – how the mainstream media keeps it alive” http://www.redstate.com/russellc/2011/08/17/the-great-global-warming-ponzi-scheme-how-the-mainstream-media-keeps-it-alive/
Nutshell: Gore tells us “denier scientists funded by ‘big oil’” manufacture doubt about the issue. But when he and his friends offer no more than a worn out, 20-year old, paper-thin, guilt-by-association accusation saying skeptics are paid by oil and coal executives to lie, then we apparently have the opposite problem: A ponzi scheme of incessant media story infusions designed to steer the public away from seeing skeptic scientists as whistle blowers on an idea that can’t support its own science assessments.
– even bother to read the books ghostwritten for him.
It comes down to whether or not you think Gore is sincere. Apparently, some commentators think he is.
I think Gore is an incredibly bitter, violently angry and consumed by it, cynical pervert who is orders of magnitude worse than Madoff, who appears to be a common criminal with a gift for deceiving wealthy dupes who were essentially something-for-nothing types themselves.
The Al Jazerra thing, on top of the “he lied to us” mega-lie and the deeply deeply corrupt and cynical AGW scam, is the icing on the cake.
The thing that makes Gore a once-in-a-generation criminal is the arrogance with which he has pursued wealth, and the disdain he has for law and morality. The person in recent US history most like him is Clinton, although there are many contenders, including the corrupt and despicable Dear Leader .
Well, Al Gore’s propaganda was behind the whole renewables lobbying business, which required many power companies to make their energy mix at least 20% renewable. Since renewables are about 50% more expensive than non-renewables, that’s a lot of money taken from the public.
Since coal/natural gas power costs about 7c/kwh and wind is 12c or more, we’re talking about a 50% increase on 20% of the power bill. So if you had a $150 a month power bill pre-Gore, $30 of it will be switched to 50% more expensive wind energy. So your bill will be up by about $15, leaving $165 instead of $150.
I have to say Madoff is morally worse, because he ruined the finances of many families. Nothing Al Gore did made anyone destitute. But we can’t let Gore off the hook. for in the aggregate, his impact was quite a bit more. You are costing millions of households $15-odd more a month. In California, peak energy rates have gone up to $0.45 per kWh, which means absolutely horrifying bills for those unfortunate enough to still live there.
Of course if Gore had succeeded in passing Cap and Trade, he would be far richer, and would have ripped off far more people for far more money. But we can certainly say that even now, in terms of actual money taken from the public, Gore makes Madoff look like a piker – even though there’s no question Madoff is far more evil.
D
Madoff’s victims were willing marks. They were classic con targets because they were attempting to get an impossible, probably illegal, deal for themselves.
If a man comes to your door and asks you to hold ten thousand dollars for him in a sealed envelope, if you will just give him two thousand so he can pay off a debt, after which he will split the ten thousand with you; and you say yes, you might be a fool. But more likely, you are a part-time grifter yourself.
Gore’s victims have no way to escape his scams. He’s many times worse than Madoff, a high-end, but common con man.
There were thousands of people who believed they were legitimately investing with Madoff. Part of his scam included providing “investors” with regular official reports of his specific investments on their behalf and their steadily increasing values.
But their money wasn’t being invested at all but used to finance Madoff’s personal opulence, acquiring homes, yachts, etc.
Inside certain groups, just getting accepted to invest w/Bernie was seen as a coup. He managed the con to that extent, that people were clamoring to throw their cash their way.
Sorry, I don’t buy it.
If somebody is claiming consistent 15%+ returns year over year when all markets are returning -5% to +5%, it’s a scam. People with enough money to invest know better. There may have been a few that were legitimate idiots, but something like 95% of them knew something was amiss and went for it anyway.
I’m with you, TANSTAAFL. I am, to put it mildly, disappointed with our former VP in his various post-2000 incarnations (I say that as someone who voted for him and believe he was unfairly denied a full recount in Florida in 2000), and I am not going to defend him now (although, even if he is a hypocrite in his personal life-style, he is right about global warming). But Madoff harmed (and in some cases ruined) many people who believed he was legit. His own son, sadly, committed suicide from the shame of what he did (his son was involved in the fraud as well). There can be no defending him.
For the record, I’m Jewish and a strong defender of Israel.
” even though there’s no question Madoff is far more evil”
I’d have to respectfully disagree. Madoff conned a few hundred people out of a few tens of billions of dollars, but Gore’s been trying to scam the entire country out of tens of trillions of dollars for over a decade, all while maintaining an unbreakable veneer of self-righteousness. Madoff at least knew what he was doing was wrong, I think Gore may have actually succeeded in convincing himself that he’s saving the world and deserves every penny he can take. The actual damage from Gore is hard to quantify, but he certainly has been doing his best to cause an awful lot more. Various carbon tax schemes would’ve strangled the nation’s economy, substantially robbed the standard of living of the average American, and turned him into a multi-billionaire. What he tried to do is far more destructive and evil than what Bernie did.
The Madoff client list, foundations, banks, trusts, investment firms, individuals, runs 162 pages
so you don’t think official organizations, including charities, are willing to do something that is clearly illegal?
Don’t be naive.
If you have enough money to pay big bucks to lawyers to legitimize yourself, you have enough money to do Due Diligence on an obvious scam. The vast majority of those organizations wanted to get the money and run. They got what they deserved.
Options, puts/calls, futures contract, Madoff’s investment strategy described as “too complicated” for many of his investors to understand.
Per wikipedia, the SEC had been alerted to Madoff fraud years before the house of cards finally came tumbling down in 2008.
And failed to act.
I still wouldn’t say the majority of investors knew what they were into.
I don’t care how many names and organizations they crammed into those 162 pages, it’s still a lot less than the people who would’ve been economically raped by the carbon taxes Gore shills for. Furthermore, when you consider the amount that has been wasted on hair-brained green energy schemes, add in all the resource development blocked by Obama and the Dems, and tack on a few billion “green” electricity surcharges the green left has already done a lot more economic damage than Madoff ever did.
Then there is the point that Madoff’s game was conning individual investors into giving him their money, while gore’s game is conning the entire country into setting up a crony capitalist economy to use the brute force of the government to rob everyone repeatedly and forever. His is far more destructive and evil, it entails the use of force and encourages corruption in government as only the Dem sponsoring crony capitalist businesses will get exemptions.
Bernie Madoff undoubtedly did not set out to bilk a number of rich people, not to mention several not so rich and also some charities, out of their savings.
My reading of his life story (humble origins and all that) is that he did set out to create an intentional scam.
I read that Bernie, in prison, was conning fellow inmates, them bringing him “wraps” (I hope that’s food
)and so forth, still acting arrogant and king-like.
Anyway, when you consider all the direct and ancillary victims (like his brother who just went to jail last week), I consider Bernie worse than Al.
One of Bernie’s sons committed suicide. The sons operated on another floor from the scam of the same bldg., and great pains were taken to show they (and Ruth, his wife) didn’t know what was going on a couple of floors away.
Hard to believe.
I see Al as a bloated crazy idiot. When an informed guy was challenging him on the polar bear thing, Al just kept mechanically repeating and repeating, something like…
“You don’t think the polar bears are dying ?”
Then Al’s “people” cut the guy’s mike. The incident seemed a metaphor for the Goracle’s hardheaded reluctance to be challenged on his rote and mechanical claims.
He should be a laughingstock, not a gazillionaire.
Qatar/Al Jazeera must be desperate for a propaganda opening in American tee vee, market, or else have so much cash on hand that dumping it to buy a station hardly anyone watches doesn’t matter.
I doubt Qatar is desparate. Its a lot cheaper to buy a TV station than support the care and feeding of a terrorist army and often just as useful. They have a great outlet for psy ops but the irony is that the twenty-something burnouts with media degrees that Current TV has for a media operation are the wrong people to deliver it.
Some serious psyops going on.
In addition to things like Islamic cash being at chairs of Islamic studies at American universities and the like.
(geez, what do you do in Islamic studies ? Learn the Prophet’s marauding techniques ? )
A new thrust, “What’s your jihad ?” signs going up, maybe like those ads you see on buses.
ASIF jihad is your own peaceful little path in life, as opposed to “the other” interpretation, demanding you kill and/or enslave infidels and make the worldwide Caliphate a reality.
An Australian guy wrote at PJM last week that they’ve had Al Jazeera for some time and it was great.
How many people remember that when Al Jazeera first came into our consciousness, post 911, that it served as the reliable propaganda outlet for the spewings of Osama bin laden and al Zawahiri ?
Couriers would deliver their rants and AJ would faithfully transmit them.
Since then, AJ has been trying to clean up its image, gain respectability, much like like CNN is trying to do.
Will either fundamentally change, beyond cosmetics ?
Something about tigers and stripes and leopards and spots comes to mind
The world is large enough this shows to accomodate , regardless of creed , race, or religion at least to ass-holes
…..That ,of course ,was to read two ass-holes .also just think how lucky we are that the election was ” stolen” from him .mind you the current Emperor would have had some difficulty ( or not) laying the blame of all ills in this world at the feet of his fellow traveller
Armand Hammer was Al Gore’s mentor. Read Epstein’s biography of Hammer to get an idea of how Hammer got his millions. Like godfather, like godson.
Considering scope, Al Gore beats Bernie hands down. Perhaps Madoff ruined a lot of people’s lives in the most transparent of ways. But in pure costs to the entire country, Bernie’s lies have created far less damage IMO. Gore didn’t just sell out hundreds or thousands – he sold out an entire nation to an enemy of the United States – rank propagandists in bed with mass murderers. Gore is the lowest of the low.
It’s like asking who is worse: Mao or Pol Pot.
Al Gore is, by far, the worse of the two. Al Gore’s treachery goes beyond mere dollars and cents. He is a traitor to the United States of America. Al Jazeera now has the power to instill its hate-filled propaganda into the minds of Americans. That is a form of corruption that cannot be tallied by an account’s ledger! (I could provide some advice as to what should be done with such treasonous scumbags — but I shall refrain.)
Many of our own government’s schemes make Bernie Madoff look like an honest business man. The scheme he ran was chump change compared to the ponzi scheme called social security, and at least all his investors were willing, if duped. We see the train wreck of SS coming and still have large portions of our paycheck stripped from us by threat of force of arms and fed into it every month. I’ve often said that Madoff was so successful running his scheme for so long they should tap him to run SS, he might squeeze a few more years out of it than the people now in charge. SS isn’t the only comparable thing, not even close. Look at how thoroughly they cooked the books on Obamacare, paying for 6 years of benefits with 10 years of taxes and bragging about how much it would save over 10 years… knowing the press would parrot their lies all the way and never do their duty of looking past the surface. The scale of that scam alone would make Bernie Madoff blush.
Willie Sutton robbed banks “because that’s where the money is”. The government currently spends north of $3 TRILLION every year. The most talented, ambitious, and venal scam artists know that that’s where the real money is now. Gore and Madoff were cut from the same vile cloth, Gore was just smarter in knowing where to pursue his ambitions. If you’re a glib sociopath who charms people easily and wants to get his hands on as much money and power as possible you’re better off getting elected and writing $800 Billion bills than going to wall street and getting to play with maybe a 10th of that. Plus, when you cook the books on wall street they call you the devil and throw you in jail, when you cook the books in Washington they congratulate you on your brilliant politicking.
Gore’s piece de resistance would’ve been cap-and-trade or some other global warming tax scheme. That would’ve turned him into a multi billionaire instantly what with all he’s invested in these various carbon credit schemes. Thank god Obamacare poisoned the well before that could happen.
If Gore were the devil incarnate, he’d still be right about global warming.
As far as Al Jazeera goes, at least you’re being consistent. There are at least two cardinal principles of the American right: First, the public must be protected from an alternative point of view and, second, we must never admit to anybody (including ourselves) that we are authoritarians who believe that the public must be protected from an alternative point of view.
If you view Sharia and jihadism as mere “alternative points of view”, then you are profoundly ignorant of what they actually are.
Trust me, RebeccaH. It only takes a few readings from men like Jim Harrison and Jedi Knights like Obi-jonKenobi with his Magic Kingdom light saber to come the to the conclusion they are classic characterizations of profoundly ignorant.
Tex Taylor, please see my comment below, time-stamped January 10, 2013 – 4:26 pm
Profoundly wrong about almost everything but so sure that they are right. Wish we could ignore them but they are now in a position to dramatically affect our lives with all of their BS beliefs. Limited government is the only answer. No one group should be able to foist the consequences of controversial or widely contested thinking on the remainder . . majorities included.
RebeccaH, please see my comment below, time-stamped January 10, 2013 – 4:26 pm
The planet hasn’t warmed in 16 years. The Climagegate/”hide the decline”guys are going nuts.
In the interests of your continuing education…
Maybe you’d take time to watch a French geophysicist “too old to be bought”
Lawrence Powell recently went through two decades of peer-reviewed journals and found that out of 13,950 papers, exactly 24 denied global warming.
So you’re not gonna watch the video.
Check.
First, the public must be protected from an alternative point of view…
That happens to be the sine qua non, the de rigueur rule of the Left.
You’ve got it backwards.
(I use Latin and French, because you’re a card carrying member of America’s self-anointed élite, one of those morally, ethically and just all around superior “intellectuals”. A teacher to us boors.)
I set through Lord Monckton’s nonsense. I think I’ve earned a vacation.
There was a long and fierce debate about global warming in the scientific press during the 80s and 90s. I know. I read that stuff. In fact I worked on some of the papers. We’re getting to the point where reraising some of the simpler issues about climate change is rather like going back to check if the Pythagorean theorem is still valid. There remain a host of questions as to the severity of global warming, its costs, and the best way to cope with it; but that the Earth is heating up and human activity is its fundamental cause are only problematic to ideological cranks and PR operatives for the fossil fuel industry.
Really, the hatred for Al Gore around here is profoundly mysterious to me. Maybe it’s something sexual. After all, what does any individual have to do with the reality of climatological trends?
This guy is a geophysicist Jim.
He talks about the climate as a planetary system, the influence of cosmic radiation, sunspot activity (low for at least as long as there hasn’t been detectable warming), cloud cover, ocean currents…the role all of these systems in shaping clamate.
(as opposed to those plugged into computer models the Warmists use)
He’s not Lord Monckton, who, for the record, makes some pretty good points.
And your own personal scientific credentials/background for being an acolyte of Warmism would be ?
… and didn’t come here to listen, only to lord it over us Ignorant Folk.
… so don’t respond to him.
The geophysicist is, in fact, Vincent Courtillot. You could have save me some time by mentioning his name. I was already familiar with his work. He’s kind of a professional curmudgeon who was already well known for denying that the asteroid had anything to do with the C/T extinction. To put it mildly, I am not impressed.
For the record, I am definitely not a scientist and claim no special expertise whatsoever. I have done various technical writing and editing jobs for climatologists and other scientists and engineers, however. In other words, I’m not a jockey or a horse; but I do hang around the track.
Hell, his name was right there if you’d just clicked on the link.
It’s not like it was concealed
as you went off to mention Monckton, disparagingly.
So now the French guy is written off as a curmudgeon. You read that on some liberal blog ?
You really should watch that video, you might learn something, geo-physically speaking.
At the very least, you’d learn of the corruption and perfidy in the UN’s serial IPCC reports, which some legitimately reputable scientists rightly find to be a crock of ideologically driven crapola.
(over and out)
@Jim
Actually, even if you agree with the premise that global warming is happening and is manmade, there would still be plenty of reason to hate Gore. He’s a hypocrite who’s used the cause to make untold millions, lives in multiple mansions, rides in private jets, does everything he demands that everyone else stop doing. He demands the American people sacrifice their lifestyle on the alter of his cause but refuses to do so himself. A true elitist who feels he’s better than everyone else. He’s like a preacher who rails against drugs and sex on TV, then goes backstage and does a line of coke of a hookers tits. There’s plenty of reason to hate people like that regardless of what they’re selling.
Then there’s the fact that his brand of global warming scare mongering is every bit if not more political than the opposition. Their goal is not to stop global warming as much as it is to crush the American middle class down to a second world lifestyle while giving away tremendous money to the 3rd world as “compensation”. Look at the proposals that come out of those UN climate change summits. They’re trying to use global warming to achieve all those goals the one world socialists failed to achieve in the later 20th century. They’re “watermelons” green on the outside, red on the inside. A more practical solution would be to invest heavily in nuclear energy for electricity while using things like coal to produce synthetic liquid fuels for transportation as needed to replace oil as it gets scarcer instead of burning them for electricity. Instead their grand solution is to use “carbon trading” to essentially create a state run economy with handouts and perks for whoever is politically connected with the left and using the revenue extracted from the middle class to fuel their spending and redistribution. Until the environmental movement ceases to be dominated by socialists trying to seize control of the economy I’ll take the threat of global warming over the reds any day.
PS I’ve done a lot of research and published a number of scientific papers on organophotovoltaic solar cells so I know what I’m talking about thermodynamically, the mainstream “green” proposals pushed by the likes of Gore are a pipe dream and a sham, totally impractical on the scale needed. There are alternatives that would allow us to live in large single family homes and drive SUVs indefinitely but the “greens” don’t want them because their goal is to turn us into peasants with them as the overlords.
tanstaafl, please see my comment below, time-stamped January 10, 2013 – 4:26 pm
Phil Jones, one of the principal email writers of East Anglia/Climategate fame (or infamy) naturally discounts these underreported recent findings, too
“Some climate scientists, such as Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, last week dismissed the significance of the plateau, saying that 15 or 16 years is too short a period from which to draw conclusions.”
Phil used to say a 10 year cycle was enough to detect a trend.
Can’t decry the religion of man-made global warming which has been very profitable for Phil and his scientific “peers”.
Frankly, I’m shocked that they found 24 papers that didn’t get the meme. Must have been before cut & paste existed. That’s quite an admission from a lib.
What happened to the consensus of the New Ice Age not 35 years ago? I figure if I wait around long enough and live long enough, everything will come full circle and we’ll be back to the dire threat of Global Cooling again.
In the meantime, Al Gore can buy himself an even bigger beach house without worry of the rising seas, courtesy of Caesar Obama – because you Jim are the generation we’ve been waiting for.
Gore bought a house in Santa Barbara, I think near the beach, kinda giving the lie to his whole rising seas preachify-ing shtick.
1982 predicted a 20 ft rise in sea level by 2002
Please lemme know when Honolulu is lost
Apparently, you should revert back to the term ‘Climate Change.’ It’s more difficult to refute.
However, your timing if perfect, as I just read this headline:
China is experiencing unusual chills this winter with its national average temperature hitting the lowest in 28 years. Ask the good people of Alaska this minute would they prefer global warming, or one of the coldest, worst winters they’ve experienced in recent history?
Your depth of global knowledge is as shallow as the traffic level to the personal blog you wish to direct the rest of us too, Jimbo. But I give you kudos for sheer gall of self-promotion and apparent uncanny ability to not feel shame
Wow, another “slobbering simpleton” Simon fan who doesn’t understand that extreme weather events are proof of the very theory of climate change he denies and then has the audacity to talk about the “shallow knowledge” of others.
You’d be hard pressed to make up something this idiotic. But, then, this IS pjmedia after all.
Wow, another “slobbering simpleton” Simon fan who doesn’t understand that extreme weather events are proof of the very theory of climate change he denies and then has the audacity to talk about the “shallow knowledge” of others. Stupid is as stupid does, huh?
Well, this IS pjmedia after all, what do you expect?
Obi-jonKenobi with his Magic Kingdom light saber…It must make you terribly numb to play apprentice to the village billionaire idiot who flunked theology school. More Solyndra, please. Like James Harrison’s untrafficked blog, your force apparently is weak, but your capacity to feel no shame is a thing to marvel.
Your passionate affection for a transparent, bulbous fraud should at least earn you some royalties from the bloated one. You’re angry with the wrong crowd.
Why don’t you enlighten us simpletons with your
abject stupidityvast knowledge? A few questions, Master Mickey Jedi? The periods of 1950-1970 were accompanied by extreme weather events too. Was that global warming?
What happened to consensus opinion of the Ice Age Doom in 1975?
Why is the Pacific Ocean cooling as we speak? Where are the extreme hurricanes predicted for the Gulf that were forecast shortly after Katrina? Why have we had periods of far higher global temperatures when man only populated a small part of the earth and heat was generated by campfires instead of combustible engines?
Why do the predictive capabilities of your model seem null and void to the casual unenlightened viewer? What I like about your vacillating theories, global warming one decade, global climate change all the time, is that they apparently cover all the bases. How convenient.
And finally and most importantly. Was Obama able to stop the rising tide?
Here’s a heads up. Look up and stare at the bright orb. You’ll have both the answer to your questions and a new appreciation for just how willingly blind you’ve been all your life.
Bottom line, our ideologues can’t/won’t admit to questioning any facet of the body of belief that makes up the Left’s required repertoire.
You know what they think and will say on any topic at all just by referencing the repertoire.
In a real world, such rabid dedication to a fixed set of beliefs might be called insanity.
Thanks for writing.
(over and out)
tanstaafl,
I take your appreciation in high regard. For a group of knuckle dragging troglodyte and Simon simpletons, I have found you and many others here quite perceptive. Unfortunately, Jedi Jon is not part of that group – more a puppet with MSNBC stick shoved up his arse, where they wave him around as part of the limited viewership as advertisement.
Preaching to the choir now, but I never let myself forget that Jedi Jon is the modern equivalent to Chatty Cathy – a pull string with a limited number of predictable responses, minus the skirt but accompanied by Darth Vader helmet and flashlight light saber.
Somewhere in Jedi Jon’s room is an Al Gore Big Head.
Financial and climate models written by the same Ivy quants
I’ve got to laugh at your account of the Pomerian “zone of peace”. I’m sure that when the Goth hordes ransacked Rome they respected that “zone”.
OOPS!, we can’t and shouldn’t cross that line. That moral outrage and solution to school violence protects no one. That is, unless you lock up all of the lunatics (goths). Who gets to classify?
In reading some of your blog, I realized why it’s so untrafficked. You want peace and goodness to flow from everyone so that these school zones will not be desecrated by (Gasp!) armed teachers. That could have saved a lot lives in CT.
As to whether AlGore or Madoff is the bigger thief, it’s a metter of degree, no? At the very least Madoff bamboozled people that had assets to steal. Algore was prepared to plunder EVERYONE including the poor to satisfy his own greed. And if along the way, he bamboozled all the AGW adherents with his fraud, well, that was their lookout.
I’ve no doubt you are well meaning but you need to take that salt shaker and swallow a few grains of salt with that AGW pap. Everybody at the top was prepared to exhibit a little hypocrisy in order to stand in line for their payday. Everybody at the bottom (the rest of us) were preparing to be ripped-off because of your gullibility. Even now, your defense of Algore is incomprehensible.
softunderbelly, please see my comment below, time-stamped January 10, 2013 – 4:26 pm
softunderbelly, Jim Hitlerson is not well-meaning, by any stretch of the imagination.
The Question should be “Who’s worse, Roger ‘slobbering simpleton’ Simon or the knuckle-dragging idiots that take him seriously?”.
You have to wonder what kind of stupid it takes to write about the “phony catastrophe” of anthropogenic global warming that Gore has supposedly foisted off on the public the day after the latest weather data that shows 2012 was the hottest year on record EVER – and with a dramatic jump in temperature no less.
Never mind that AGAIN Gore and 98% of the world’s climate experts have been proven right. Only in the fetid fever-swamp of Simons’ imagination is there nothing going on with the climate and Gore the evil manipulator out to make you believe that those dramatic weather events you’ve witnessed outside your window are really happening.
You seem to be a poster child for the Left’s unrelenting stream of mis- and dis-information.
Maybe you can explain the Goracle jet setting about the planet and other egregious wastes of resources that fat turd engages in.
Maybe you can explain the ideologically fixated “green” Prezzydent’s similar self-indulgent lifestyle.
You guys keep falling for these baldfaced shallow hypocrites.
You’re their army of useful idiots.
Too FREAKING funny, tanstaafl, someone flies in a jet and they no longer have the authority to talk about climate change? That’s like disqualifying anyone from talking about improving air standards because they smoke.
But, wait, this is pjmedia afterall, home of the “slobbering simpleton” Simon fans.
Gore with his fixations, his rigidity, his obsessions, his self-promoting and self-enriching “climate” scams (e.g., purchasing offsets, like indulgences) his borderline insanity, should be a joke to an intelligent people.
Missing here, an intelligent people.
I’m perfectly willing to have a discussion of how we humans are compromising our planet, destroying forests, waterways, animal habitat, even the possibility that what we pump into the air is not good. (You ever consider the crap that wafts across the Pacific from China, high into the air above LA ? Nasty sh!t.)
But you gaggle of fervent, undying idiotlogues make that next to impossible.
An Inconvenient Truth (Gore’s flick) was full of misrepresentations and lies, probably about as many as Michael Moore’s little ventures in film.
But you useful idiots fall for them every time, and they make millions off of your stupidity.
Hide the effects of crony socialism
Blame transparent capitalism
Don’t humor them.
No amount of information would ever be enough.
They’re committed, but they should be committed.
… to explain anything to anyone here. We are all Knuckle-Dragging Troglodytes too stupid for some as brilliant as him to anything other than point out how brilliant he is.
So do not engage in dialogue with him. We poor mortals are unfit to speak with a God-Like Being like Obi-jonKenobi.
Mind you, he does feed on our attention, and would shrivel up into a dried up worm if we ignored him. So ignore him.
Really Roger! Comaring a hangnail (Madoff) to the plague (Gore). Please note, I specified brcause some people have no sense of proportion. Madoff’s damage was limited to those who came to him. Gore’s threat is universal, everyone, everything, everywhere!!!
Roger seems to be inadvertently going on some variation of that ‘principle’ of killing one person being a crime, a million a statistic.
Not to defend Al Gore, but, we have been watching Al Jazeera English for years and have found them to be much more informative and MORE OBJECTIVE than the US lame stream media who are lap dogs of the BO administration. If you REALLY want to know what’s going on in the world today, I would suggest you try to get AJ on a big satellite dish. I GUARANTEE you will see news that is hidden from us by our media in this country. It will truly be an eye-opening experience for you. The first time I watched them, I was prepared to hear the Arab world spin and slant on world events, especially concerning Israel or the US. They do report stories from the Arab world and DO get their opinions on a lot of things, however IT IS THEIR opinions. It is richer to learn how the rest of the world sees things instead of the candy coated, rainbow colored version that is spoon-fed to use over here.
Roger:
First, Al Jazeera has already been introduced into American homes via PBS and second all should read “At Any Cost” by Bill Sammon sub titled How Al Gore tried to steal an Election. I saw it at the time but in reading the book puts this putz into perspective. He is a humongus ass that deserves none of his accolades.
Al did a favor to a small part of our population by selling to Al Jezeera. Now some of Gore’s acolytes will learn proper techniques for beating a disobedient wife, how to properly behead an infidel, and proper techniques for having sex with small children. The guy can’t be all bad!
Maybe some late night porn with a goat.
Gore is a traitor and should be dealt with as such.
Grifters who leverage government do more harm than private sector grifters.
Madoff is a lesson to all of us to confront bad things right away. Everyday he perpetuated the grift, it just made the outcome worse for everybody. I don’t know how he lived with that pressure. I wonder if it was some kind of relief to have it come apart?
It has been reported that Time Warner Cable has dropped Current TV, among other bottom-dwelling channels as their ratings are so bad that the channels don’t drive advertising dollars. So we should start a nationwide movement to get the other cable firms, particularly Comcast, Charter, Cox, and SAT-TV providers DirecTV and DISH to drop Current TV. These, including TW, represent 90%+ of all cable subscribers.
If this were done, Al Jazeera would have wasted $500 million (one week’s profits?). Aside from this pressure, we should not allow a pro-Islamist/terrorist network that would make Joseph Goebbels proud to operate in this country.
Finally, do former VPs have Secret Service protection?
If we’re going to censor Al Jazeera because it doesn’t follow the party line, we should certainly silence anybody who advertises his lack of loyalty to the United States by going by the name of Rebel Yell. He’s obviously a traitor or, at the very least, there’s more evidence that he’s a traitor than there is that Al Jazeera is promoting jihad.
I don’t know what Al Jazeera broadcasts in Arabic, but their English-language stuff is hardly radical except to the extent that they allow space to a much wider range of opinion than American news channels. Horrors!
Please don’t waste your time and energy on the likes of Jim Hitlerson. He has venomous opinions on every topic, even ones he knows nothing about. He is simply too ignorant to understand how ignorant he is. However, he thinks he knows everything about everything and thinks he has the solution to all of the world’s problems. The guy is what Thomas Sowell might call a self-anointed messiah. He believes that civilized and successful people and countries are intrinsically evil and he has a vicious hatred of Jews and Israel. His posts are often incoherent ramblings. He evades questions, he tells outright lies and he throws tantrums. Please don’t waste your time and energy on this immature, malignant, narcissistic, attention-starved, anti-Semitic demagogue.
A wide rage of opinions on how best to stone women to death for being raped. And whether a 50 year man should marry a 6 year old girl or have to wait until she is 9 years old.
FeralCat, Why do you waste your time responding to Harrison? You’re just giving him the attention that he craves.
You should do your homework. Al Jazeera is a media front for the Muslim Brotherhood, which informed sources know is deeply integrated with several Islamic-fascist terrorist organizations.

People that got screwed by Madoff made their own decision, maybe dumb but their own decision. People who figured out Bernie was running a scam didnt HAVE to participate. The majority of the people Al Whore is screwing are not willing participants. The people that know he is running a scam, still have to pay the miserable SOB.
Al Gore. He won’t be punished for his crime against Americans. At least Madoff is paying his debt to society and his victims are being compensated.
Gore deserves a special place in hell. The sooner the better.
To be fair, Al Jazeera has done some decent reporting on topics not related to the US or Israel. You can find them on YouTube — hyperinflation in Zimbabwe, ghost cities in China, etc. Much more interesting than the sanctimonious blather of Al Gore and Keith Olberman.
It would be ironic to go to a terrorist-backing network to find better news coverage than that provided by our homegrown lefties.
Global warming is regarded by the sheeple as true, by those who can think for themselves as false and by the power mad and money grubbers as … … useful.
The Church of Global Warming says the earth is dangerously heating up, but I know that it is not, for I have seen the snow and ice and have felt their bitter cold, and I have more faith in snow and ice than in the Church of Global Warming, and it’s High Priests.
What would be the effect of this Global Warming fraud and coercion, if successful? To make part of the world fools and part hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. Al Gore and the Global Warming fraudsters and fanatics have converted simple changes in the weather into an engine with which to try to enslave mankind to filch wealth and power to themselves. They, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Scientists.
A jew absolving a convicted jew’s fraud while crucifying a gentile’s above board business sale.
How fitting… and sick.
