Fear and Shame on the Campaign Trail #2: The Week of the Dumb Democrats
This is the week when Democrats have sounded dumb — or hard of hearing.
I’m not just talking about Joe Biden, who always seems that way, or Maureen Dowd, who yesterday opined Paul Ryan was the smiliest (read: most attractive) politician to be so “cruel.” We can put that down to projection on the part of Ms. Dowd, who has made her living for the better part of thirty years now by being cruel to as many people as possible.
No, I’m talking about Democrats in general who are doing their best to misunderstand everything Paul Ryan says or has said, so that they don’t have to acknowledge that he might make sense (or that he had a Democratic co-sponsor for his budget plan they continually excoriate as “radical” without delineating what it is). That way they also don’t have to admit that they don’t have a plan of their own to deal with the imminent entitlement collapse or anything else budgetary for that matter and that their ideology is in such a rapid decline that no one publicly supports it any more.
What plans they have are described in a code word like “forward” that appears to have replaced the equally opaque “hope” and “change.” This is reminiscent of “Juche!” — the slogan of the North Koreans under Kim Il-sung, which meant something deliberately vague like “mainstream.” (How ironic that Obama’s Democrats have adopted a similar style to the Norks. I would say it’s deliberate, but I admit, in the spirit of this piece being about dumbness, that I suspect Obama isn’t educated enough, even in Marxism, of all things, to know anything about “Juche,” although I cannot say for sure. After all, we still don’t know much about Obama’s educational level at all.)
What the Democrats are banking on is that the American people can’t understand simple concepts such as Social Security and Medicare are going bankrupt at a rapid clip if we don’t reform them. Or that they don’t sprechen-sie englisch sufficiently to understand Paul Ryan when he says, as he has repeated dozens of times in dozens of venues, that his Medicare reform plan doesn’t affect anyone currently fifty-five or over.
That appeared to be news to the ever-dyspeptic Bob Beckel on The Five the other night, though it’s always hard to tell with Beckel whether he’s being disingenuous. He’s paid to opine the most outrageous liberal cant with a straight face and be Greg Gutfeld’s punching bag, a task he performs relatively well.
Nevertheless, Ryan Derangement Syndrome is everywhere. It’s even infected Republicans. A contributor right here on PJ Media’s own Tatler moaned yesterday that the Ryan nomination was a loser for just those reasons – the public couldn’t comprehend his “complicated” proposals and will accept the Democrats’ “radical” branding.
Of course, if that’s true, small “d” democracy doesn’t really work and the country’s in a pretty hopeless situation. I’m a bit more optimistic than that. “If not now, when,” as a Jewish sage once said. If we can’t get people to face economic reform now, when can we get them to face it? When things have already gone over the cliff and it’s too late?
Related to all this is the word that has been going around that Obama’s main man David Axelrod looks depressed. Why wouldn’t he be? Forced to run a campaign based on lying about or distorting what the other side says, fanning the flames of non-existent racism, etc., is a sure loser, even if you win — perhaps especially if you win. Winning ugly in this instance will not be a triumph of any sort. Obama, at his worst, may succeed in destroying America as we know it, but he would destroy himself and everyone around him in the process.
At this moment, I’m betting none of this will happen. Romney’s choice of Ryan, for me, saved the day.
UPDATE: It has been pointed out to me by nephew Isaac, who lives in Hong Kong and has traveled to North Korea, that “Juche” is often translated as “Self-reliance.” Yet more ironic – Kim Il-sung as a libertarian! Obama should pay attention.

More of the same. These people have no game, except potty mouth and repetitious, vague, unsubstantiated slurs. I sometimes wonder why we worry so much about them. They practice politics on the level of a petulant, thwarted, 14 year old.
Yeah, why on earth does anyone vote for these people when their track record is pathetic? Unfortunately, they have to be taken seriously because tens of millions do support their BS. I don’t mean their policies, I mean actual and real BS. Heard Obama talking about Ryan’s Medicare plan and what he said was simply not true. It’s almost impossible to argue in good faith with these people. I couldn’t live with myself if I had to stoop to their level, but that’s how bad they crave power. It’s sick.
There are reports that almost 50% of Americans pay no federal income tax. At the same time, some 100 million Americans get government benefits. For them, it can be seen as a rational economic choice to vote for the party that offers them “more free stuff.” They aren’t paying for it, so why should they care about tax cuts or building the economy? Sure, it’s short-sighted but the system hasn’t collapsed yet. In a sense, it’s actually a rational, informed decision on their part.
When Republicans win elections, liberals ridicule the American public. “How ignorant! How backwards!” We should resist the temptation to do the same when elections don’t go our way. Most Americans vote in their own enlightened self-interest. If they’re working in the real world, they’re more likely to vote for Republicans. If they’re on the dole or are government employees, they’re more likely to vote for Democrats. Both groups are voting with their own self-interest in mind for the most part.
The challenge of Republicans is that the percentages of Americans not paying federal income taxes and receiving government benefits is growing very close to the permanent tipping point. One of the challenges of Romney and espeically Ryan is convincing enough people that the “Safety Net” is in danger of collapsing. When that happens (and anything that can’t go on forever will eventually come to an end), things will get very ugly, very quickly. Think of those riots in Greece on steroids, with guns.
Ahhh.. Larry?.. Some folks vote for the preservation of our country… Me? I’m a disabled vet receiving no funds, unemployed and receive (never have) no funds and by your logic I should be voting for O… WRONG… I love my country too much to look out for my self interest. Bill McDonald, Richmond, Va.
If you’re sucking at the government teat and you vote for more of the same because the system hasn’t yet collapsed, that hardly qualifies as enlightened self-interest. It’s about as enlightened and self-interested as boozing it up for days on end because you don’t want to face the hangover.
I would also bet that a significant fraction of the 100 million who get government benefits would much prefer a decent job to being on the dole. Marx believed that everyone votes the interests of his class — that ideology follows from economics rather than the other way around. Let’s not make the same mistake.
If you get money for free without having to do anything and don’t pay taxes, it’s in your self interest to vote for people who’ll give you more and against those who you think will give you less. It’s simple arithmetic. That doesn’t make it right but people vote for their self-interest all of the time.
The question is, how many vote their short term interests at the risk of their long term interests?
And no, I don’t think there is a significant fraction of people on the dole who would rather be employed. After all, we have multiple generations who know nothing but the dole. They don’t know what work is except as a buzz killer, assuming they even know anyone in their family or community that has worked.
You’re forgetting just how many of those welfare recipients are illegal aliens, just plain fraudulent, or double and triple dipping.
When you are quoted stats, if they come from government, and there might be any reason or them to fudge the numbers, they’re fudged. If it can be defrauded, it is.
There is no money in government for people who don’t carry water for said government.
Don’t believe all you hear. If it seems improbable, it is. Look around you and learn to trust your lying eyes.
That’s not to say you’re wrong, but don’t let the lying bastards get you down.
It’s ALL lies. They just make stuff up, all day long.
They have mastered the art of vote-buying, Allston. And that kind of politics is highly destructive. If you can buy enough votes with the public fisc, why bother with good government? Indeed that brand pf politics presupposes that your governance and largess will be heavily skewed toward your constituency groups, public interest be d****d. And once hooked your voters believe they must vote for you again and again, regardless of the mess you make of things, to preserve their handouts, whatever they may be. So you are free to play fast and loose with the law, steer money to your buddies and political supporters, etc, without fear of voter backlash.
Sound familiar?
Sound Familiar
I’ll merely say that I live in the area near Boston known colloquially as “The Communist Triangle.” Familiar? Oh, yes. As if I have been eating spoonfulls of Saccharine, cloyingly sweet. “You poor, witless thing, let us take care of you.”
Pardon me, I believe I am going to be ill.
I think that it is more helpful to veer away from labeling POTUS one way or another, and looking at the incoherent constituencies of the Democratic Party, and I could add that the Republican Party also suffers from constituencies with conflicting aims. I tried to demonstrate the Democrats dilemma here: http://clarespark.com/2012/04/06/diagnosing-potus/. The bases for both parties is a mish mash, and hovering over both political parties is the Progressive agenda, which was always bipartisan.
You are absolutely correct Clare.
Both Repubs and Dumborats are pushing the Progressive agenda and have been for many years. The difference is merely the degree of pushing.
We need to clean out the Rinos from the Republican Party and label them for what they are, slightly conservative Democrats.
WE are heading into the last home stretch and if we do not carry the entire government with this election then the revolution will have to begin or the Nation is lost. Communism is not my cup of tea and that is where we are headed.
It baffles me how Biden doesn’t even know what century he is living in.
http://uselections2012blog.blogspot.ca/
Prediction: Hillary will replace Biden in the VP debate, but not on the ticket. Some ingenious maneuver that the MSM will go along with.
You heard it here first.
The Democrats have refused to produce a budget because they don’t want it to be scored. If you are going to defraud the people, you can’t give them something of substance to evaluate.
This President is so incompetent in the budgetary arena, he can’t even get a single vote from his own side on one of his little league attempts at budgeting.
So, in criticizing Paul Ryan’s attempt to be a fiscally responsible adult, the remedial kids with their behavioral issues in full bloom…throw their typical tantrums.
A post-modern Democrat lacks substance by definition. Substance can be measured. Empty platitudes and pitting faux victim groups against “the other” is a parlor trick intended to dupe low information citizenry.
With a huge assist from the Propaganda and Lies Ministry this ploy is sadly and madly effective.
Slogans vs Solutions in a rigged contest where the slogans are championed and the solutions are demonized, is an uphill climb for the good guys. But to say that Ryan isn’t a great pick because he is an “A team” solutions guy…is myopic and astoundingly wrong.
Fighting empty rhetoric with empty rhetoric is the fulfillment of low expectations for ourselves as a nation. We ought to be better than that…more importantly, we need to be better than that. Having not been has lead us to this point and failure to remedy it will destroy us.
Amen!
Double for me!
“Slogans vs. solutions”. Does such a strategy work with the electorate? As you point out, CF, it does with a huge assist from the “lies and propaganda ministry” or the MSM as it is better known. In an opinion piece by J. Bila on the Fox News website this morning we find the following…..
“On August 13, The Wall Street Journal disclosed that “The latest Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll showed that President Obama leads Mr. Romney 54% to 39% among women. The gap gets truly staggering when it comes to college-educated women. Here, Mr. Obama leads 63%-32%.”
Read that last sentence! College-educated women favor Obama 63%-32%! You wonder why and begin to think about it. Wouldn’t you think that a college educated woman would see past the slogans and be attracted to someone who offers solutions? Apparently not. But why not? Is it because the majority of educated women aren’t really educated at all? They are “indoctrinated-women” given the state of our liberal infested colleges. And to make matters worse their indoctrination is reinforced by the propaganda cabal. Hence, slogans (plus a heavy dose of emotionalism) over solutions is a very effective tool with both the truly ignorant and the “educated” but possibly less effective with the non-ignorant less “educated”. Apparently to be an “educated woman” today can be like putty in the hands of Axelrod and his ilk.
Here’s an addendum to the WSJ poll mentioned above. Just in! My wife has been a hard-working blue-collar gal all of her working career. My niece is a college honors graduate who is in a swoon over Obama. My wife thinks Obama is a lying jackass. So much for the college “educated” woman.
Which merely proves that entitlement thinking is THE key concept of modern feminism. And, that is not news.
Personal experience reinforces this judgement: until I met C. (well educated, an architect) I met many educated women whose mantra of future expectations seemed to go something like this: ” What is mine, is mine, and what is yours is our…”.
So, I suspect that this attitude is of longer standing than higher education’s indoctrination, reaching well back into childhood. I suspect this even more since I found none of these women lacking in critical thinking skills, at least not so far as their professional, or even pre-professional, training was concerned. It just didn’t generalize into other areas of their lives, where early expectations were reinforced by college level indoctrination regurgitated without examination or critique.
Any polls on how conservative women stack up, also broken down according to socioeconomic standing as well as age? — Therein might be a clue to turning around the “entitlement fairytale mentality” before it sinks our boat. Our only chance?!
The main devide I saw in the polls is married women tend to vote repub, while single women vote dem.
But why not? Is it because the majority of educated women and men aren’t really educated at all? They are “indoctrinated-women / men” given the state of our liberal infested colleges. And to make matters worse their indoctrination is reinforced by the propaganda cabal,
Fixed it for ya.
Thanks for the PC “fix”. But the poll and the entire article concerned only women. Or is it “womyn”. However, I do share your view.
But… they all have doctorates in dumbass!
Thou must now genuflect at their altar, while the country they now lead sinks slowly into the ground…
because they’re too stupid to see it.
I have this sneaking feeling that they may live just long enough to find out how little they really know.
“Slogans vs Solutions in a rigged contest where the slogans are championed and the solutions are demonized”
If you’re the originator of that, my hat’s off to you cfb. That’s right up there with Orwell.
To all above…indeed, it is indoctrination that goes hand in hand with propaganda. They are two sides of the same coin of this realm.
To my knowledge, I had not read Slogans vs. Solutions elsewhere, nor Government by Ambush which I feel is what we have obtained from the Fabian Socialists and their conspirators in the our mass information outlets.
The reason I do not use MSM, is because I steadfastly refuse to call the conspirators in the Propaganda and Lies Ministry “mainstream”. It elevates them to a standard and infuses them with a credibility that I will never accord them.
If that is the mainstream, I do not wish to drink from it. It is toxic to the truth and it is poisonous to the honor of this land of ours. I will not lazily, unwittingly…nor especially knowingly…add to their power to deceive and destroy our sacred trust to one another as countrymen.
Today we see the effects of over four decades of indoctrination and propaganda.
The fallacies of diseased logic of small c communism have burrowed deeply beneath the flesh of our electorate. Like a parasite, they do not merely carry the sickness of traitorism, they weaken the body, sap our morale, and drain our will to live free.
Having planted themselves within our very bloodstream, they lay their eggs to hatch in our schools, in our entertainment, in our news gathering and communications sites, and in our state department, our military, our governing bodies and in the three highest branches of our self-governing institutions.
We are not merely now swatting them, we are infested. They are bold and brazen and no longer fear us.
In this Government by Ambush and Infestation we now have before us an overthrow that could never have been imagined by a foe attempting to breach our defenses by assault on our shores or in our airspace. We would crush such a battleplan.
Instead, they came in disguise. Wearing the beautification of “do gooder” smiles and spouting angelic hymns of peace, harmony, compassion for all. It was a ruse. They were not rooting for peace, they have been rooting for our enemies. They did not seek harmony, they sought divisiveness and acrimony. They did not seek goodness, they sought destruction.
They cannot, they dare not, they will not offer a free market budget, because it is capitalism and the free market they must eradicate. The long con would be obliterated by exposure to sunlight and the fresh air of truth. And every long con needs a shill. The Propaganda and Lies Ministry acts as Lord Protector over the conspiracy to defraud our people. They keep the truth strangled, bound and gagged. And, they slander, smear and libel anyone who dares to expose the scheme, to defend us from the plotters.
Now, at this precious moment of our destiny we are confronted with a patient and devious enemy. We are at war. But one that was declared in furtive whispers and knowing glances, not by open declaration. 457 “journolists” linked arms against us and plotted in secret.
Can you imagine…we have been duped by the highest officers of our sacred trust to have an “automatic trigger” to gut our military in half? What patriot would conceive of such a thing? Who would risk our safety and security with that bizarre and perilous notion? Who would think that we would put ourselves in that checkmate position?
Who would believe that we would throw open our borders for anyone to breech? Who would believe that we would assault the practice of Judeo-Christian heritage, but pay homage to radical Islamic enmity of our way of life?
In our Slogans vs Solutions moment, it is not that WE seek to deny the practice of freedom of religion to radical Islam, it is that we need not sow the seeds of our own destruction by giving our sworn enemies the keys to the kingdom. Anyone may come to live with us in peace. But, we will not suffer indignities and threats to our Constitution disguised in vestments and behind the name of false gods.
In every waking moment from now until November it is our sacred duty to advise, counsel and awaken a slumbering nation, in imminent peril and blissfully unaware of the dangers of an enemy within.
We must overcome the conspiracy of propaganda, the spread of bolder and bolder lies, the disease of the Fabian small c communists and the empty rhetoric that is nothing more than class warfare, racial and ethnic baiting, and slander.
We must become a million town criers. Shouting out warnings and telling people to heed the alarm. There is no budget, there is not even a serious attempt at a budget. It would put the lie to their fiscal policies. There is no border control, there is no serious attempt at border control. More poor souls who owe their existence to the iron fist of a runaway government is the spawning ground of fresh recruits to the overthrow.
Awaken my dear countrymen. Please open your eyes and get on your feet. Our moment is upon us. Dissect the slogans and commit the solutions to you memory. Your country needs you. If not for yourself, for our children and grandchildren. We have slumbered on our rights long enough.
It is time to defend them.
Afraid you’re right CF. I think we are fooling ourselves into believing winning this election is going to right the ship. At least Romney and Ryan will attempt to turn the wheel instead of full speed ahead toward the berg, so it absolutely necessary to win.
But R&R can’t alleviate the absolute rot that has infested millions of minds, plagued our legal system, produced a corrupted Ministry of Propaganda, or rid us of our pandemic amorality. That’s going to take a concerted and focused effort on behalf of all of us.
Somehow, we’ve got to reestablish there is a sense of shame.
Tex, this is a culture war that was not declared yesterday, it will not be won tomorrow.
My inability to get my ideas across in a way that stir my countrymen’s souls, frustrates me. My words are not vivid enough, they must be lacking the power they need to shake people from their inertia.
The war declared on us came first and continues to come…via the culture. Small c communists like Obama especially, learned that a frontal attack meets resistance. It is the soft pastel masquerading into our vernacular, our TV shows, our classrooms, our lexicon, the way we interact with each other.
Think about this. They SAY they want peace and harmony between the races. What, precisely….have they done? Virtually every possible thing they can to pick at the scabs of distrust and exacerbate the wounds of a two hundred year old disgrace.
They have us calling their media “mainstream”. Really? The daily assault on our culture by the propagandists doesn’t reflect mainstream thought, it infects it.
Maggie Gallagher writes this:
Why did Bill Clinton adopt the mantra “maximum feasible accommodation” with religion as an alternative to “separation of church and state”? Why did he call for abortion to be “safe, legal and rare”?
Because he and other Democratic elites were tired of losing political elections on “values” issues. They sought to moderate their expression of views in an effort to win more votes and in the process inevitability legitimized “anti-abortion” views as a reasonable position, not a morally extreme view.
Whatever your views on gay marriage, abortion, border crashing, taxation, use of our natural resources, freedom of religion, ….you cannot today commit to a discussion of any length without infusing our own arguments…with planted seeds from their ideologues. Try it.
My wall that I have thrown up to never call them “mainstream”, to never call them “elite”, to never call them “progressive”, to never say “illegal immigrants”, …but to measure my words and infuse them with truth and accuracy.
We can’t win a war against the small c communists if we a)use the stolen communication apparatus they have seized; b) use THEIR words they have planted into our spoken culture to weaken our message; c)bow to their definition and framing of the issues; and finally, d)fight them slogan to slogan.
We have to dismantle their operation. We have to undo the traps and detonate the trip mines. Methodically. Diligently. Operationally. Strategically. Tactically. Devotedly.
That’s not a one day theater. Even if we survive November, the work will have just begun. If we rest on that victory, it will by a Pyrrhic one.
I feel so badly, Tex…that I cannot write the words to stir men’s souls. We stand on this precipice together and a chill wind is blowing hard at our backs toward the edge.
Your words certainly stir me CF. I seek out your commentary in nearly every column at PJM. That having been said, while your words stir me, the greatest frustration I experience, when dealing with low-information voters, is how to explain to someone that is thoroughly brainwashed, THAT. HE. IS. BRAINWASHED. I’ve tried reasoning, I’ve tried giving examples – simple ones that a child should understand – but to no avail. I lament that people have lost their critical thinking skills, but then I reflect that that is not true. The bastards I am talking about are hyper-aggressive critical thinkers, only problem being that their skepticism is focused solely on conservative or Republican facts. They are well trained in that. They are however, wholly unquestioning of their own side. To the point of being pathological.
I realize I’m not adding to the conversation and that frustrates me too. I just feel – no, that’s not right – I think that we have reached a saturation point where the pendulum no longer swings back and forth but is jammed fast in the hard left position and is beyond the point of democratic means of redress. We have been asleep for too many years and while we faithfully manned the ramparts against the Soviets and their allies, we let the enemy slip in behind us and steal our country out from under our noses. And then I ask myself – when could we have stopped this? There’s that wise saying that evil triumphs when good men do nothing and I trust in it. But at the same time I ask myself – what could we have done, especially when the left’s approach was so stealthy and incremental. I wish I could go back in a time machine and slit Alinsky’s throat. But then I would have been viewed the madman, the aggressor. And he would have been replaced by others. I don’t know what the answer is and I’ll stop now because this is turning into a stream of consciousness rant and all that.
But thanks for your steadfastness and inspiration. If nothing else, I’ll be one of those standing at the barricades when Comrade Cappucinna (or whoever her American equivalent will be – no doubt wearing Nikes and a smiley-face T-shirt) comes to tell us what our fair share will be.
I fear it is not just DEMS and low IQ ill informed voters who are infected. I was deeply appalled to receive an email labeling R&R as right wing extremists perpetuating a war on women’s reproductive rights, including the Dem talking points like back to the 50′s and then the topper- Mitt will have us in BURQAS- I of course responded that I did not agree with one sentence written and the request to never again be pelted with pro BAMA talking talking points- Imagine my surprise and sadness to hear this woman is a REP and thinks she has vetted this info, by using two sources- of course the letter included issues that have not ever come up in the campaign, things that never happened (no abortion even for rape, forced ultraounds etc) and will not happen in this USA with this lib stacked Supreme court. I am horrified to think this intelligent informed person sto tilt at windmills that have never been built, than discuss actual laws and actions that have happened on the O’s watch.
I am less hopeful than ever. I am sure O through connivance and cheating will win. And that the “culture” war has been lost – the future of USA will be decided by undereducated and mis-educated, the demographics insure it. Haters &racebaiters who think they are the fairer tolerant ones will keep power. Orwell was off by a couple years,,,,,,, Never Again is HERE AGAIN
“Slogans vs Solutions” is an excellent way to looking at things. It seems that Obama and many Democrats believe that giving yet another speech is actually accomplishing something, kind of like the pharoh saying, “So let it be written. So let it be done.” in “The 10 Commandments”. Only, the real world demands more than platitudes to accomplish anything. How many times have we heard Democrats say that their “message” is wrong and that’s why they can’t get things done? It never seems to dawn on them that we hear their message just fine and don’t like it.
I have said it a lot this last week, and I will say it again. All I could do before was vote against Obama, now I am voting for Ryan.
That reminds me, I saw Rich Lowry on Meet the Press last Sunday and he was seated next to Rachel Maddow. I could see that Lowry was physically repulsed by Maddow, and he was letting her get under his skin. Shame that he stooped to her level in the end…but then I probably couldnt have refrained from trying to stick it to the repulsive lying hack either.
Well, if Rich Lowry is genuinely repulsed by Maddow’s current appearance, he can counter this by mentally picturing Maddow as she appeared in high school and before she went “Full Rocky”.

Looks like the school drag queen.
With the economy in tatters, foreign policy rudderless and unfocused , taxes on the rise and joblessness growing perhaps we should be kinder to Obama supporters?
Nope.
Axelrod should be depressed. The Obama administration is increasingly acquiring the stench of incompetence. They haven’t been able to do anything right – even their biggest accomplishment – Obamacare – has been rebranded as exactly what they insisted it wasn’t: a tax.
The economy stinks, the middle east is a worse mess than usual, gas prices are rising again, shootings seem to be a weekly occurance, inflation has hit the grocery store, Obama and Biden keep sticking their feet in their mouthes…
At this point I don’t think it matters if they can successfully brand Romney or Ryan as “extremists” because the public would likely pick an possible extremist over a proven incompetent, and that’s what Obama is becoming.
Becoming?
sorry, allow me to add “to an ever-increasing number of former supporters.”
I don’t know if a majority of eliglible voters recognize or are capable of understanding the calamitous fiscal situation that we are facing; apathy in the face of impending disaster is very comforting. I suspect that many believe that this is an exercise in crying ‘wolf’. I am equally certain that a large segment of the population would fight to the death before allowing any infringement of their benifits, the country be damned.
One argument I use a lot. If a dem starts railing against the ryan budget, and how the repubs are standing in the way of everything, I ask them why the dem senate has no budget at all, and why Obamas budget was so worthless it got zero votes, even among dems. Then I point out that they may not like the ryan budget, but at least the repub house did their job and passed one, and ask when will the dem senate finally do their job. Then I simply point out that they cant beat something, ryan, with nothing. Only when the dem senate passes an alternative budget, do they have any standing to complain about Ryan.
Democrats don’t do math. Democrats do feelings.
Math is cruel, cold, unfeeling and insensitive. Ryan does the math. I leave it to you to complete the syllogism.
Obama may yet dump Biden and run with Hillary. As pointed out at the Weekly Standard, O would most likely make the switch just before the Republican convention. Most people don’t understand how dismal Hillary’s tenure at State has been; she remains popular, probably burnished by the contrast with Obama (for some reason, she’s viewed as competent). Also, such a move would again remove the focus from budgetary and economic issues to foreign policy, where Obama has been a catastrophe, but where he’s viewed inaccurately as a success. As hard as it will be to educate the public on fiscal issues, it will be ten times harder to educate them on foreign policy. And as the Dems can demagogue any attacks on O a racism, they can demagogue any attacks against HC as misogyny. If Obama gets rid of Biden in favor of Hillary, it presents a real problem.
Yes, it would represent a problem for Obama. First of all because it would be seen as the desperation move it is.
Second because getting in bed with Lady Macbeth is never a smart move.
clear ether

Heh! *I* sure wouldn’t want to be the heartbeat standing between Hillary and the Presidency.
Especially after several Republicans, including Sarah Palin, recommended he do just that. It would look even worse than desperate. Which is not to say BHO won’t replace Biden with HRC, *IF* HRC wants to be on the same ticket as him and not just wait till 2016….BHO does not strike me as terribly bright, to put it mildly.
Obama may be smart enough to leave Biden where he is even though it will cost him the votes (which he is hoping to makeup with the Mexican voters).
#1. Biden insures Obama’s safety..no one wants to see Biden step into the Presidency.
#2. Obama can control Biden. He will continue to sit in the corner and not question anything Obama does and heel on command.
#3. Clinton really dislikes Obama and she would work against him. He could never trust her not the ” leak” information that would not only lead to impeachment but totally removed from office.
#4. I don’t Clinton would even consider becoming VP because I think she is planning to run in 2016 and she does not want her name associated with Obama’s failed policies.
Hillary has been keeping a very low profile as of late:
1) She knows there is a very good chance that the SS Obama is hitting the rocks this November and she doesn’t want to be part of it. (I guarantee you Bill still has Dick Morris on speed dial, and he understands the tea leaves)
2) If she’s on that ticket her career is finished.
3) Her last chance is to run against Romney in 2016 if the economy doesn’t pick up in the next few years, and of course then she will be almost 70.
4) I think she and Bill are hoping Obama goes down in flames as some shadenfreude from Obama playing the race card on them during the 08 campgaign.
Obama will not dump Biden for one reason, Palin said it would be a good move for them if they did. Obama hates Palin so much he could never bear to do something that she recommended.
– although I would have given the contributor a sabbatical through Election Day.
The attack of the librul Martians today seems to come in two forms: 1) Ryan is a Scrooge (see the dowdy Maureen) and 2) Ryan wears baggy clothes (unlike the stylish Obama, who seems to own only one suit, a slender black one). This is all they’ve got? They are biting themselves in the back of their own necks in envy and spite and this is all they can come up with?
So far it is beginning to look very much like there will be a victory for us in November.

Sorry, but I have to make a reference joke that will only be understood by those who’ve read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. I can’t resist it. (Apologizes in advance.)
That’s not a suit. That’s just Obama. He probably wears snake skin shoes too… if they ARE shoes.
Terry Pratchet should be remembered forever for showing how a turtle can learn to fly.
Which is also how a small govt, limited powers administration should deal with the federal bureaucracy.
You forgot that Ryan is a racist, a homophobe, and hates women. May as well throw in the whole bucket of garbage.
The attack dog Democrats are going after Ryans budget proposal and calling it “Radical”… What the people need to hear and understand is that the budget Obama presented was so far out in left field that NO ONE voted for it. The Senate voted 99-0 against. Not one Democrat voted for or supported Obama’s budget. Factor in the House vote and the defeat was monumental 414-0!!! Obama has so little understanding of economics and finance that every Democrat voted against it!!!
Don’t worry, I’m sure Ryan is ready for that line of attack in the debates. Whenever that horse’s ass Biden says something about Ryan’s budget being radical, Ryan will come back with the facts as you described. He’ll mention how his budget passes the House and even got some Democrat votes. He’ll mention how Harry Reid and the Senate have failed to pass a budget of any kind in over 3 years. He’ll mention that no one, not even any of the Democrats, will vote in favor of Obama’s budget.
You can see and smell the fear and desperation on the Left. After 2008 they thought it would be a Democrats forever, what a difference three years make in the hands of the corrupt and incompedent. Pain makes one focus and America is in pain and it is focused on the cause of this pain, Obama. This election will not be close, it will be an epic blowout and those elites on the left are beginning to realize the possibility of utter humiliating defeat. The first black President put the Democratic-Socialist Party in chains, oh the irony.
What I am finding most ironic is that all these democrats seemed to relish the fact that Romney chose Ryan but yet they seem scared. So scared in fact that they have sent Biden out to counter Ryan. Which to me is scary in itself. Why are they so scared? I think it is because Ryan has a likeability factor as high, if not higher than Obama. While Ryan was not my personal choice, I have seemed to find him most appealing because he is genuine. Sincerity goes along way with the American public as opposed to putting people back in chains. I am just saying…..
In this connection, it’s well to bear in mind that a man whose mind has been sufficiently warped by envy is quite capable of:
1. Realizing that his goal requires the destruction of himself and everything he loves;
2. Deciding that the goal is worth the price and proceeding with it.
To be complete about it, I will note that a lunatic ideology or theology can have the same effect. This has been demonstrated by the Jim Jones and Higher Source episodes, the Third Reich, and the regime currently in control of Iran.
Excellent points and I agree. If Obama looses the time between the election and the inauguration will be quite dicey. And I would like to add one question; why are so many federal agencies buying up so much .40 caliber hollow point ammunition? The Social Security Administration is the latest.

Teacher in Tejas: you asked for sources, we cited some. You picked one source out of many that later stated it was a clerical error that attributed the purchasing requisition to the wrong department so that is supposed to make all other sources of information irrelevant? If you have ever dealt with the IRS, they have a court system and system of “justice” in which you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent. I had a personal instance where the person inputting our return into their computer system skipped a line. It looked like we had underpaid by a couple hundred dollars but the language of their documents made me wonder if I should say goodbye to my family and report for sentencing, never mind the trial. The matter was resolved in my favor after I pointed out their employee’s mistake. I use the IRS as an example…. one federal bureaucracy out of many that seem to be arming themselves to the teeth.

If the Founding Fathers were alive today and confronted with the issue of assault weapons, they would say “That’s exactly what we intended by the second amendment. The right to bear arms has nothing to do with hunting or sports. It’s intended as the fail-safe mechanism for the people to protect themselves from out-of-control government. It’s too bad ordinary citizens can’t afford stealth fighter jets.”
This info would not be accessible unless it were intended to be. Scare tactics? Bluff?
Teacher must be having a fit trying to shoot down all the sources in your list. He wanted sources, you gave him sources. This is a familiar bogus dem debaters trick. I know it is bogus when they demand sources, and I do a simple google search and find a long list, which the liar could have easily done himself. The liar is hoping people are too lazy to reply to the ploy.
Everyone note this typical tactic of the liberal shill. When faced with facts they don’t like they demand you go to great lengths to prove your statement in the hope that most will simply not bother or quote a less than solid source. They then claim victory. In this case the requests for quote from the government agencies are a part of the public federal record, not a whole lot of wiggle room there. So, when refuted such shills simply disappear, only to show up elsewhere to try the tactic again on a different subject.
Whole point being that their aim is to put us on the defensive, call our information into question, and tie us up running down proof for facts they already know but don’t want in the public view.
I just read the same thing in a British newspaper. So source or no source – it’s out there.
Should I be concerned that you are apparently unable to locate this information on your own?
“Realizing that his goal requires the destruction of himself and everything he loves”.
Obama is certainly hell-bent on destruction as you point out. But it seems that the way you state it would suggest that he is an insane crackpot with a near-suicidal goal. That he is not. I don’t believe he has any desire to destroy himself (which is everything that he loves) at all. In fact, I believe his goal is to enrich both his wealth and legacy while destroying that which he most hates, which obviously is capitalist America. If only he was simply a nut. This is a guy who has elevated himself from being an aimless pot-head on the beaches of Hawaii to being the most powerful single individual on the planet. Surely he must be the slickest and most clever con-artist mankind has ever produced.
This is a guy who has elevated himself from being an aimless pot-head on the beaches of Hawaii to being the most powerful single individual on the planet.
I paraphrase, “He didn’t do that…somebody else made that happen!”
I have heard 2 theories to explain Obamas path of destruction:
1. It is a clever Alinski plan to destroy our economy sufficiently so the population is desperate enough to support the coming Marxist revolution, that would give him and his supporters permanent power.
2. Obama is just an incompetant boob, who beleived a bunch of idiot theories, and had no idea his policies would turn everything to muck.
I am not really sure what fits, although I lean toward the incompetant boob theory, because for all of Obamas supposed brilliance, to me he looks like a boob when it comes to anything other than campaigning and propaganda, and this time even his campaign looks like it is run by boobs. In the end it does not really matter, because whether it is an evil plan, or incompetant boob, the result is the same, disaster for the country, until we throw him out.
Obama, at his worst, may succeed in destroying America as we know it, but he would destroy himself and everyone around him in the process.
I doubt he sees it that way. After all, while the faceless crowds in communist countries lived miserable (by American standards) lives, those in charge lived quite well. They had cars, private stores, homes in the country and better quality goods than everyone else.
Obama’s friends and cronies have done quite well over the past few years. Billions of taxpayer dollars have gone their way. Obama knows that when he leaves office, he’ll be well taken care of. All of those hundreds of billions of “stimulus” dollars went somewhere. It sure didn’t do the rest of us any good.
The irony is that the media forced Romney to pick Ryan and that pick will be Obama’s undoing. The media’s relentless hammering of Romney forced him to make this an election about big ideas and substantive change. A Romney campaign of “I can implement Obama’s ideas better than he can” would have lost. The old “he’s a nice guy but he’s in over his head” had to go. In order to win Romney had to make the election one of stark choices, not one of shades of grey, and the Ryan pick has the potential to give him a big victory.
The louder the donks get about Ryan the more you know how much of a headache he represents and has been to them. Ryan made O look angry minded and unrealistic during that mini-debate back in 2010. His principled criticism of O’s fairytale budget numbers infuriated the thinned skinned O so much he set Ryan up and bad-mouthed him in public. After that it was case closed, as far as O was concerned. Now, Ryan is baaacck; this time as a VP candidate. He’s O’s worse nightmare. I want to hear the dems howl; the louder the better. It sounds like victory.
“Of course, if that’s true, small “d” democracy doesn’t really work and the country’s in a pretty hopeless situation.”
I am optimistic as well, Mr. Simon, but the fact is that small “d” democracy doesn’t work any better than the big “D” variety. That is why the founders designed a representative republic. Small “d” democracy will always become far too reactionary and selfish to last through the ages.
Well, us Republicans have feelings too and my reaction to Mitt picking Ryan was one of relief. To me it signaled that finally someone in our governing elite, at the national level, was taking the current situation seriously. I say national level because state governors of both parties have begun to move on their looming deficits. I say governing elite because until Romney picked him Paul Ryan was just a deficit hawk congressman who had gained some notice. Now a presidential candidate is taking him seriously, which immediately implies that Romney might actually be serious. I have thought for some time that Romney has the economic qualifications for the job, but seriously wondered if he had the will. Picking Ryan, in the face of the obvious risks, demonstrates to me that Romney actually intends to tackle America’s problems. The electorate knows the country is in trouble – that’s partly why they went for Obama’s message of hope and change. But that has proved a false dawn. Romney and Ryan may not even get elected, but if they do they have an enormous task ahead of them. My relief stems from the perception that they are prepared to tackle it.
From the Oxford dictionary:
Definition of atheism
noun
[mass noun]
disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.
gnosticism/agnosticism is about what you claim to know.
You can be a gnostic theist, gnostic atheist, agnostic theist or agnostic atheist.
Hey guys, I really, honestly hate to tell you this, but what the Dems are doing is working.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
it better be “working” because i have lost quite a bit of weight ensuring it does
Many of the polls in that average that favored Obama had huge sample disparities that favored dems, and have not yet counted the Ryan bounce. The oldest and most prestigious poll, with the largest sample size, Gallup, now shows Romney tied, with not yet counted internals, like the greater likelyhood of repubs to vote, and the tendency for undecided to break for the challenger, indicating Romney is ahead. And the Rasmussen poll, which is heavily criticised by dems, but has an excellent record of actually predicting elections, instead of just generating spin, has Romney with a 3-4 point lead. The purple swing state poll also now favors Romney. And keep in mind, historically, the incumbent tends to lead in this part of the race, while the challenger tends to gain after the conventions, when a l0t of americans first start paying attention. The polls also tend to show romney leading among independent voters. It was true that Romney was headed for trouble in July, after the huge round of Obama attacks, as even Rasmussen and Gallup showed, but the nomination of Ryan turned that around.
The bigger evidence for me now though, is the dems are acting desperate and shrill, while the repubs act confident, and Romney/Ryan are drawing large crowds, while Obamas huge 2008 crowds are gone.
FDR had his 100 Days first, and Napoleon Bonaparte had his 100 Days last. With less than 100 days to go to the November election, Obozo and his Clown Circus are on their final path, the road to Waterloo.
““If not now, when,” as a Jewish sage once said. If we can’t get people to face economic reform now, when can we get them to face it? When thing’s have already gone over the cliff and it’s too late?”
Well, that’s what happened in Greece and now that country is literally falling to pieces, with massive unemployment, huge taxes, food lines, violence, and a nation that’s on the brink of either a fascist or communist takeover (depending on which way the Greek people go, far left or far right). And it will get worse there, too. Once Greece is unable to pay any of its bills (and that time is fast approaching), who knows what social and civil turmoil will grip that country.
But Obama and the Democrats still seem to think that there is nothing wrong with the Greek model of running a government. Obama and the Democrats are many things, but they are not stupid. They must know that if they keep spending money the way they are without cutting anything, we WILL end up like Greece, and only in a few years time. I’m no economist, but even a simple fellow like me can grasp that fact.
And I think a lot of Americans are beginning to grasp it, too. I think Americans can read a bill just like anybody else, and when they see a national bill for $16 trillion (with a “T”) dollars, they know something is terribly wrong and that something needs to be done about it. That is why Obama will lose. Sure, there are a lot of people out there who vote and who are as dumb as a box of rocks. I grant you that, but in every democracy there will be people like that. You take the good with the bad when it comes to voting, which is the price you gladly have to pay for free elections. What I resent is that Obama is banking on being re-elected by those dumb, ill-informed, people who get all their news from political TV commercials and nothing else. Obama really thinks that if he just changes the subject long enough, people will simply ignore the deficit and the spending and vote for him so long as they keep getting all the “goodies” the government can throw at them, never once thinking where the money is going to come from to pay for all of this.
So it is up to us, regular Americans, to try and convince other clear-thinking Americans that we ARE headed for financial disaster and that Obama’s economic policies will only get us there sooner rather than later. We have to convince our fellow Americans that Romney and Ryan are out last best hope for keeping this nation together, or else we really will see a depression that will make what happened in the 1930s look like a joke. Nobody said that democracy is easy, but I’ll take it over all the other forms of tyrannical government that’s out there. Because if we do not accept this burden of informing our fellow citizens, then we will end up like Greece and, judging by the way Obama is behaving, he doesn’t seem to have any problems with that.
I have become paranoid. Could not this epic incompetence be, instead, part of a diabolical plan to neutralize the USA economically, militarily and morally? Tell me I am wrong.
I have heard 2 theories to explain Obamas path of destruction:
1. It is a clever Alinski plan to destroy our economy sufficiently so the population is desperate enough to support the coming Marxist revolution, that would give him and his supporters permanent power.

I think it is really cruel when Sarah Palin tells The Wohn to replace Joe with Hillary.
Now The Wohn really can’t do it.
It is strange how the present Democratic party has morphed into self-loathing, America hating socio-communist party. And they are proud of it not remembering what made this great and exceptional in the first place. This is what happens when they select a person as their leader who may or may not have been born in this country but certainly not raised in this country in his formative years. He was raised in Indonesia upto the age of ten or more and was exposed to anti-Americanism in those early tender years. And he carries those memories to the present and shapes his present policies according to what he learned way back then. In other words he is now what he was way back then in his early childhood and further reinforced by his association of various people like Wright , Ayers, etc, later in his life as a teen.
The party just follows his model, whatever that is!!
Its interesting to compare the FDR programs to the Obama stimulus. Both had socialist big gov tendencies, but FDR was a competant socialist, whose make work programs actually left behind some useful infrastructure, like roads, bridges, dams, water treatment plants, irrigation systems, rural electrification, and other things that actually helped the private economy. While obama was a Chicago corrupt cronyistic incompetant boob socialist, whose stimulus left behind nothing useful that I can see, since nothing was “shovel ready”, and much of it sank into a morasse of cronyism and corruption, like solyndra, or programs to temporarily prop up state level public unionized workers, only to see them let go once the stimulus ran out. A leftist friend admitted that one of the obama programs he badly wanted, bringing internet infrastructure to rural areas, mostly failed, and he admitted it produced little real results.
Obama and his backers will stop at nothing. Nothing. Lies, slander, high crimes or treason. We all know his background, his mentors. I just never thought he could pull it off so easily, you know, something about fooling all of the people all of the time. I guess you just need to fool enough. Paul Ryan wasn’t just a good choice. He is the right and only choice. The indoctrination through our media and education has achieved far more then we knew. I don’t understand the gender gap. We have to stay optimistic we have to confront every lie. Pray a lot
After Romney survived the July Obama lying/distraction blitz, and bounced back by picking up Ryan, I think we will win now. But I agree we will be in the fight of our lives, with the whole country at stake, and that Obama will stop at nothing to win.
Mr. Simon;
Bob WHO? Greg WHO? Do you mean to imply that people watch The Five and look at something other than Ms. Guilfoyle’s or Ms. Tantaro’s shapely legs?
REALLY?
As for Ryan, the videos of Ryan earnestly explaining his plan to rein in runaway government spending to a crowd as if they were intelligent adults juxtaposed with the video of Biden slobbering out his belches, hiccups and farts is all that needs to be done to send our Moonbat O-bots into a frothing tizzy.
I reckon that by mid-October, Joe Biden will be kept on a leash in the White House basement.
And he knows it, which explains his remarks in Danville VA the other day.
And the SpecOps pros now speak against Obama: watch the video at
http://www.opsecteam.org/
And…have you seen the pics of Romney on stage with the coal miners in Ohio ?
I haven’t a link, but if you search for
photos of Romney with the coal miners
you will find plenty.
Bringing on Ryan seems to have energized Romney and given him a real personality. I think part of it is he feels better running on real issues now, instead of just answering the Obama slime machine.
Here’s what I wrote on the subject of dumb dems in early 2010
“Think for a minute how massively stupid the Dems really are. They were going to take the White House in 2008. They already had both houses of Congress with a veto proof majority in the Senate. They had Hillary Clinton ready to be the first woman President. Their media cheerleaders had destroyed Bush and they were ready to take control for at least 16 years. The Repubs had (and continue to have) a lackluster field of re-treads and marginal potential candidates. Just say President Michelle Bachmann or President Ron Paul without snickering. And the Dems blew all that to elect an arrogant, smooth talking snake oil salesman. Just because of the color of his skin. Megadumb.”
Wouldn’t change a word.
Hillary probably would have been better than Obama, but the same is true of a lot of other people whom we could have elected. I doubt that Obama has ever had an original thought in his life. Obamacare is a perfect digital “clone” of what Mitt Romney created there in Massachusetts. Neither Obamacare or Romneycare are capable of bringing our excessive health care costs under control. Thousands of people fled Massachusetts after Romneycare was passed. The state had to raise taxes (Massachusetts is often called “Taxachusetts” because of its high taxes). If there is something wrong with your car so it gets poor gasoline mileage, do you keep buying additional gasoline or do you get your car fixed? US health care is 50% more costly than health care anywhere else. We pay about two and three quarter trillion dollars a year for health care. Yet our health statistics put the USA at the bottom of the developed world for national health. We pay more, we don’t get more. Obviously we aren’t getting “value for our money”. We need to start asking hard serious questions why the rest of the developed world gets better results for much less money… We can definitely do better. But we need to be able to say “no” to the professionals who are ripping us off every day because we’ve allowed them to write legislation in their favor, not ours!
Hillary would have done better if she was willing to listen to Bill, who no matter how awful he was in his personal life, was actually semi decent on policy, and knew how to work with congress. But knowing her, she might have decided to ignore Bill and channel her inner leftist, in which case she would have failed as badly as Obama.
One more thing about Clinton, he had some competant subordinates, instead of those idiot academics, and corrupt cronies, Obama brought in from chicago.
I heard liberal radio guy Bill Handel talking Monday morning about the Ryan pick. He and his sidekick agreed: they were definitely thinking of voting for Mitt because of it. “What good does it do to have gay marriage if the country is bankrupt”?
Good question, and lots of people are asking it.
Excellent, sir, save for this sentence: “When thing’s have already gone over the cliff and it’s too late?”
What say you dele that unneeded apostrophe in “things?”
Roger, you’ve reached foundation in this post. The explicit rule of progressive philosophy is that a handful of (self-anointed)elites are smarter and better equipped to make life guiding decisions for the rest of us. Put simply, we are too dumb to take care of ourselves. Understanding that, it makes implicit sense for Axelrod and Obama to dangle first this bauble and then that one, to smear and accuse and name call in an effort to distract and obfuscate. This election will be a bold test of opposing governing theories. Either, as you say, small ‘d’ democracy is impossible because the people can always be swayed by bread and circuses, or a majority of us can be persuaded to see beyond a meretricious self interest. At the risk of sounding trite, leaders make a difference. Ryan was the right choice because he is the best choice. Most conservatives are constitutionally optimistic. Right now our cry should be, “Ride right through them, they’re demoralized as hell.”
Roger,
You ask “… when can we get them to face it? When things have already gone over the cliff and it’s too late?”
To which the answer is:
“Yes. Then and only then.”
I get why Axlerod is depressed. It’s not a smart move for the most radical POTUS in history to start using the “R” word. That’s going to ricochet right between the eyes.
well it does appear that selecting Ryan has changed the dynamics of the election and, so far at least, it seems to be in favor of sanity and against down-your-throat-statism.
If they couldn’t destroy Romney with Bain and taxes, how are they going to destroy the just-as-clean Paul Ryan? Plus Mr. Ryan is relentlessly focussed on policy. Whether one agrees with him or not, it’s hard to deny that he is sincere, although that won’t stop the criminals from trying.
The real risk the professional leftist liars run is that their increasingly over the top screeches may turn independents against them.
Phillip Klein (I think) wrote a very insightful column a day or so ago that pointed out why it has been so hard to teach the country who obama really is, despite the overwhelming evidence. The liar just sits there calmly and mellows in his oh-so-soothing cigarette baritone that he is just a regular guy who wants to help poor people. It makes my skin crawl, but it probably does explain why this manchurian marxist, bred on communist milk, has been able to pull the wool over the eyes of millions of people.
Well Paul Ryan has the same quality, except he is the real deal, and not somebody who has schemed and rehearsed for his entire life to deceive the public to cram an odious philosophy down our throats. And the same thing applies at least partially to Romney, although he is obviously more deceiptful and certainly more vulnerable because of the type of business he chose to operate. In a way, Ryan helps Romney acquire a bit the auro of integrity for himself that shines from Ryan like a beacon of hope.
But it’s still early. Have no doubt that our criminal masters have multiple levels of bile and treachery that they are willing to inflict on the country to retain their power over your life. And Romney’s entire history and cabal of ruling class republicans are more than capable of reverting to form in an instant to retain their positions at the federal feeding trough.
We have the tea party, and primaries, to make sure Romney and the rest of the repubs, do not backslide after the election. And I thin they are worried enough abut the tea party that they wont. But it wont matter if we cant beat Obama. Fortunately, after Ryan, I think we can.
But this discussion only happens on websites such as this one. How are the majority of people going to come to an informed choice when the lame-stream media that informs the vast majority, and the Hollywood types they worship support the other side?
We will have to hope enough people are paying atention at the conventions and debates. Also remember romney has lots of money left for adds. But the key thing is our mesage is right and truthful, and theirs is not. We have to hope the american people are smart enough to see that, because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate. I also comment in forums that are not all right wing, like the Washington Post, or the New York times.
The Democrats have handed the Republican campaign an outstanding opportunity yet little has thus far been made of it.
The Democrats have introduced much of America to Ayn Rand. They have used this to attack Ryan.
The Republicans are running from this talking point instead of embracing it. Why is this ironic?
Because no single character in any one of her novels resembles the philosophy of a candidate better than that of the character of Ellsworth Toohey, for the philosophy of President Barak Hussein Obama.
Toohey, the collectivist, the sacrificer of individual freedoms for the ” good ” of the masses, for whom mediocrity is the hallmark of good citizenship. When you listen you will here the voice of Toohey but you will be thinking of another.
The following is worth every minute of your time. Please share with your friends.

According to a report in the Daily Rash, during his interview with Reverend Al Sharpton on MSNBC last night, Mitt Romney’s reaction to Sharpton’s murder accusation is causing quite a stir: http://www.thedailyrash.com/mitt-romneys-rope-a-dope-with-al-sharpton
Juche, Hope and Change, Forward! are deliberately empty words so the narcissistic and thought-shy liberal can apply their own emotions to it. They think that makes the word mean what THEY want it to, but in reality it doesn’t. They simply delude themselves into chasing that idol of their own imagining and follow the political opportunist down the Primrose Path. That’s why slogans are short, simple and changed often. If they are too complicated it causes thought which turns off most of the targets. Likewise if a slogan is kept too long, the emotions fade and the herd might wake up to reality and wander off, so new empty words are held up for their emotions and the cycle starts over.
‘Obama, at his worst, may succeed in destroying America as we know it, but he would destroy himself and everyone around him in the process’
This was true for Stalin, Mao and still true for Castro and Chavez. For any committed Marxist destroying anything that works is a triumph. I’m sure BHO sees the destruction he has engineered is an historical achievement.
Is that what’s called creative destruction, or maybe what we need to call destructive destruction?
Remember what Barack Hussein said about ATMs harming his jobs program. And they first appeared on the scene way back when he was a fake student at Columbia, long before he took the helm of the world’s foremost economy.
It is my observation that almost all white male Republican candidates are so terrified of being called racist or sexist or homophobe or whatever that they cannot bring themselves to articulate any conservative position. Women [Bachmann, Palin] and blacks [West] will do it, but not white males. Romney will do it, but only a little, and very cautiously, and even then with infuriating backtracking. Ryan is the almost unique exception. I can’t be the only one who sees this, and it must truly terrify any thinking Democrat.
I’m talking about Democrats in general who are doing their best to misunderstand everything Paul Ryan says or has said, so that they don’t have to acknowledge that he might make sense (or that he had a Democratic co-sponsor for his budget plan they continually excoriate as “radical” without delineating what it is).
This bold text at the end is the key. The socialist habit has always been to be exceedingly kind to themselves by not having to account for their apparent fantasies; fantasy is central to the socialist modus operandi. If the numbers don’t add up, make up some that do. If that’s not possible, as is the case now, then ignore them altogether.
The proof of this is that they have submitted no budget at all for three years now, and the ones they did pass before that were unreal plans that looked sure to fail, and sure enough they always did. More important is that they get away with irresponsible and even unlawful behavior. The Democrats are acting out their fantasy, they have a dream. But when the money finally runs out, that dream will become a nightmare. For us, not for them. They’ll take jobs as professors at Harvard. For out part, we’ll begin the process of having to repay a debt of $50,000 for every living man, woman and child in the country that will continue to rise until it’s fully paid off. This quandary will have to be solved in the face of unemployment double what we have now; bond loan payments will have to be made a citizenry experiencing declining wages and rapidly falling net worth.
And that’s not including 20 million illegal aliens we have here as a racist conceit; all these “undocumented workers” are expensive to keep.
Axelrod is glum because he was one of the first to envision the outcome of a Ryan – Biden debate.
Somehow now Paul Ryan has been morphed by the media into someone to the right of Rick Santorum! Having lived in the Twin Cities area (though in conservative Anoka County) of Minnesota, I can guarantee you that any Republican who is elected in MN or WI has to have some savvy about working with moderates and liberals. In my view, this can be (and has been done!) winsomely (and without compromising one’s core values) by Ryan.
An interesting random find I made from a 5/20/12 “Daily Beast” article on Al Gore’s new “flame”.
Would be interesting to see if President Obama’s camp would play the “class warfare” card (as they did on Mitt & Anne Romney) on Al Gore for Beadle’s avid involvement in dressage!
“Described in the Post item as an “avid horsewoman,” Keadle owns the Clear Spring Farm in Rancho Santa Fe, a 10-acre equestrian property. She’s also a leading sponsor of the California Dressage Society’s San Diego chapter.”
Pelosi famously opined, regarding Obamacare, “You’ll have to pass it to see what’s in it.”
Apparently, Obama has taken the same approach to his re-election….”You’ll have to re-elect me to see what my plans for the future are.”
Probaby the 50% of Americans who don’t pay taxes will vote for Obama. I knew one of them and she knew all the Democrat’s talking points.
Republicans or anyone who is anti-Obama should flood the media with ads about the Romney/Ryan plans for social security and medicare. The plan should be everywhere. The idiots don’t read the Wall Street Journal or watch Fox news. They probably ride public transportation so put ads on busses and subways. Put up billboards, put up the old “Burma Shave” type signs. Use some common sense. Put a muzzle on some of those emphasizing “family values” If Obama is reelected, the so-called family values won’t be allowed anyway.
Spend some money blanketing the US with information…..make it unavoidable. The elderly, who feel the most threatened about SS and Medicare, almost always vote. Ensure that their vote goes to Romney.
Bush – 1,300 convictions;
Clinton – 1,000 convictions;
Obama – Zero attempts.
“Forced to run a campaign based on lying about or distorting what the other side says, fanning the flames of non-existent racism, etc., is a sure loser, even if you win — perhaps especially if you win.”
This is exactly the kind of campaign they intended to run, because it is their intent to destroy, not build.
“Winning ugly in this instance will not be a triumph of any sort.”
Uh, they won? That’s how you keep score.
“Obama, at his worst, may succeed in destroying America as we know it, but he would destroy himself and everyone around him in the process.”
They will come out surprisingly whole, and rich to boot, since that’s the way the thing is set up. Drain until it’s dead, then all the money belongs to you and yours, and the power is firmly fixed over the people, who require your blessing for food and water. It is the culmination of their game plan.
The problem with Medicare is the same problem that we have with US health care as a whole. That is, it is a government “protected” monopoly that operates outside of the free market. That is “why” US health care costs are 50% higher than health care costs in any other country on Earth. As long as US health care remains a government enforced monopoly, we will continue to be forced to pay health care costs half again as great as those of any other country. If we could reduce these costs to something comparable to what the rest of the developed world pays for health care, we wouldn’t be having a problem with Medicare. Nor will Obamacare reduce health care costs one penny! In fact it will increase these costs by about 16%. Currently we are paying $2.7 trillion a year for health care here in the USA. Depending upon how many more people are covered through Obamacare, the total cost will likely be $3 trillion dollars a year or even more. In any case, we can expect to pay $300 billion more for health care under Obamacare than we are paying now.
The real answer is to eliminate as far as possible the government enforced monopoly we now have in health care. We can do this by taking aware from the doctors their power to extort their patients into paying for unnecessary office visits and lab tests in two different ways. One is to pass legislation that would require doctors to write lifetime prescriptions for chronic conditions, thus depriving them of the power to enrich themselves through unnecessary office visits and unnecessary lab tests, (doctors often own their own labs which allows them additional profit). The other is to eliminate prescription laws for all non-narcotic drugs, allowing prescription laws to remain for narcotic drugs and antidepressants subject to abuse. Either method will reduce the cost of health care considerably. The more we can reduce the power of government to provide monopoly protection to the professions, the more the free market can function to reduce costs. Naturally the professions will not like this idea, since it will hit them in their wallets, but it will reduce costs for the rest of us, making more money available for other things!
Republicans worry that the voters will not understand their plans; Democrats worry that they will.
What the Democrats are banking on is that the American people can’t understand simple concepts such as Social Security and Medicare are going bankrupt at a rapid clip if we don’t reform them.
This is in no way a manipulative statement.
The OWS parasites love the Obama giveaways, and will always vote for the sissy president.
Israelis two to one for Romney.

We can only hope that a few more american jews look at that, and realize that voting for obama is voting for their own destruction.
Psst! It’s really … Emocrats.
In a strange way I feel sorry for Obama, not that he will ever understant why. In so many ways, the “First Black President” could not be anything other than a failure, I predict that the first Female President will have no more luck. Ever since the 60′s and the New Left, the concept of the First Black President has been a strange sort of dream for the left.
David Horowitz once wrote that for the New Left, the Black man took the place that the Proletariat had for the Old Left. They were the sacred race, the ones who would lead them to a true paradise. As such, the idea behind the First Black President continued to grow. This mythical being rose form a mere politician, to a kind of god, dreamed of in prophecy, the kind of prophecy you’d see in a cheap Fantasy novel.
“And lo, did he descend forth, riding into the cursed lands. His right hand held forth and from it sprung strength, from his left hand came light. He opened his mouth, and wisdom flowed forth. He had come to rule for ever and ever, his kingdom, true paradise.”
This is the First Black President for the New Left, and remember, it’s the New Left we’re still dealing with. When we think of the 60′s, we tend to think of the Hippies, but they were only part of the culture. There was also those I really think of when I say “The New Left.” The political ones, the ones who purchased weapons in order to be ready when Nixon brought the heat down. The ones who actually voted against Kennedy becase there was more chance to make more radicals if Nixon was in office (I believe this was Ton Hayden’s exact words), the ones who, for years, have been digging and digging through the Democratic parties framework in order to subvert it from the inside and make it there tool.
The fact that the “First Black President” was a wholey imaginary being is meaningless, it’s what they’ve been working on for years (and Obama embodies so many of the New Left’s most radical political ideas), and no ordinary human could live up to those standards. Even now, I bet quite alot are disapointed with Obama.
In fact, I don’t think Obama really is a president, he’s a sacrifice. A sacrifice to break the spell put up for “The First Black President.” Whether it has worked, I don’t know, I’m not making any calls on this election until it is over.
That’s what i’ve wanted to say for awhile.
Hmm. Some of our favorite, extremely mouthy trolls have been rather quiet lately. Wonder why?
Feb 24, 2008 This video reviews real-world evidence showing that changes in marginal tax rates can have a significant impact on taxable income, thus leading to substantial amounts of revenue feedback. In a few cases, tax-rate reductions even “pay for themselves,” though the key lesson is the more modest point that pro-growth changes in tax policy will have a positive impact on economic performance and that good tax cuts therefore do not “cost” the government much in terms of foregone tax revenue.
