The Day Obama’s Presidency Died

May 11th, 2014 - 6:29 pm

Almost nobody in Japan heard about the Battle of Midway until after the war. The Emperor Hirohito, upon hearing of the debacle, ordered a comprehensive cover-up. The wounded were isolated on hospital ships. All mail was censored. Surviving enlisted men and officers were held incommunicado until they could be shipped off to distant battlefields from where it was hoped they would never return. The sunken ships themselves were gradually written off over the course of the war until their loss blended in with the general demise of the imperial fleet. In order to coordinate this effort, Hirohito created a special office of cabinet rank.

It worked perfectly. If the U.S. had not won World War 2, Midway would never have existed in Japanese history. The average man of course read nothing in the papers, heard nothing on the radio, saw nothing in the newsreel. But perceptive Japanese “felt” something momentous had happened though they could not identify its cause. It’s impact, though denied in the press, shuddered through the whole imperial fabric. From that day forward events seemed to take a downward trajectory. Only after the war did the Japanese know the root of their misfortunes.

Midway.

But the loss was worse than four carriers sunk. Jonathan Parshall and Anthony Tully, in their classic account of Midway, The Shattered Sword, argued that the battle broke the Japanese empire in a fundamental way. It was the consequences of denial that really finished the Japanese military:

Cohen and Gooch propose that all military failures fall into three basic categories: failure to learn from the past, failure to anticipate what the future may bring, and failure to adapt to the immediate circumstances on the battlefield. They further note that when one of these three basic failures occurs in isolation (known as a simple failure), the results, while unpleasant, can often also be overcome. Aggregate failures occur when two of the basic failure types, usually learning and anticipation, take place simultaneously, and these are more difficult to surmount. Finally, at the apex of failure stand those rare events when all three basic failures occur simultaneously-an event known as catastrophic failure. In such an occurrence, the result is usually a disaster of such scope that recovery is impossible.

The Japanese did not want to accept what Midway meant about their strategic assumptions and therefore they suppressed it. That was more damaging than the naval losses themselves. It was that failure to adjust to reality which doomed the empire.

The curious thing about September 11, 2012 — the day of the Benghazhi attack — is that for some reason it marks the decline of the Obama presidency as clearly as a milepost. We are told by the papers that nothing much happened on that day. A riot in a far-away country. A few people killed. And yet … it may be coincidental, but from that day the administration’s foreign policy seemed inexplicably hexed. The Arab Spring ground to a halt. The secretary of State “resigned.” The CIA director was cast out in disgrace. Not long after, Obama had to withdraw his red line in Syria. Al-Qaeda, whose eulogy he had pronounced, appeared with disturbing force throughout Africa, South Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. Almost as if on cue, Russia made an unexpected return to the world stage, first in Syria, then in the Iranian nuclear negotiations.

Absolutely on point about the fundamental dishonesty of Barack Obama. He is a pathological liar, a sociopath, and a psychologically crippled narcissist.
How did it come to this?

Somewhere between plausible deniability and implausible acceptability is the operating space of the ISI's of the world. The problem with covert action is it can not act as a proxy to an otherwise corrupt national policy. Covert action could have localized the imperial fleet at Midway but it could not sink a single aircraft carrier any more than it could have masked the position of the island of Midway itself.

Like the blunder at the Bay of Pigs the president act sheepishly and somewhat ashamed of a policy that sought to unseat a scoundrel. It is a cowardly act that seeks to shield the presidency from an embarrassment of its own making while preserving the possibility of basking in the glory should any be had for the taking. He is a liar and a coward appeasing the Leftist environmentalists on the Keystone XL pipeline while assuring his base in the union trades that he is just jumping through the proper hoops. He is a coward who postpones the day of reckoning for his so called crowning achievement, Obamacare, until after the election. He is a liar and a cheat, in short he is evil, yet timid enough to never stand on a principle. Obama is afraid of principles less he would have to defend them. Obama is a sleaze bucket with a winning grin. But the joke is on us. Imagine if Obama instead actually tried to jump start the economy instead of cover up the stinking edifice of his actions with Dane-geld and promises never to be kept.

The devil himself would be proud that Obama cannot make up his mind while he is pretending to be all things to all people. Signing contracts with the unwitting who trusted the devil before reading the fine print.

Any ship of state that is unwilling to send it fleet into full battle, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead with its flags a waving, its purpose stated, should stay in port and STFU.

Let's hope it is not the day America dies.

For some years, it has been impossible to get any real political or economic news from the American state controlled media. You have to go to foreign sources, read between the lines, and parse your way through their individual bias'. We have had to learn skills that they knew in Germany [during and after WW-II], Japan, the Soviet bloc, and in China today.

The Midway comparison is apt, especially since the survivors have been sent to the metaphorical Aleutians. The regime will draw a line, a real red line which they will back with anything up to open war with Congress, on the subject of bringing any of the survivors before Congress to testify under oath. Since the number is so small, a "tragic accident" could be in the cards.

Another apt point. The Japanese people did not find out anything about Midway and the loss of the Kido Butai until after their cities had been burned, with both conventional and nuclear fire. Their economy was destroyed. Their social structure, heritage, and cultural continuity were shattered.

I suspect that is what it is going to take to get the truth here too. I do wonder who will convene the war crimes trials, and what the specifications will be.

Benghazi is to Obama as Midway is to Hirohito. Good analogy.

Interesting conjecture, but Occam's Razor leads one more in the direction of Dinesh D'Souza's theory that Obama (and his circle) basically see the USA as much more a source of evil than of good, that any actor opposing the USA must have good and honest reasons for doing so, and their task is to get the USA out of the rest of the world and protect it from American colonialism or neo-imperialism. Similar to Richard's thesis, this all must be done on the sly, and maybe because both theories have that deceitfulness and unreality in common, they are at base more similar than different.

Folks, its the total unraveling of each of America's Progressive New Left tenets. From the East Coast to the West Coast evidence has it, Far Left's agenda is in very, very deep trouble.
Look at the NYT debacle (open discrimination). Was always festering, as it is in academia, business and especially IT (HP, anyone?). These are Progressive New Left Activist's reduct's of power and glory. CNN has egg on its face with NYT revelations. ALL MSM (MSNBC has choked on its own cereal)is being called upon to explain their REAL WAR ON WOMEN. And lastly, the uber Rich American Class is on display for their sheer lack of engagement with "the hoi-polloi," i.e., We The People. What is interesting is eventually this disdain for historical events and history itself by American uber political pundits will ultimately lead to their self destruction - already underway (one can only tell lies so long until it is openly unmasked - damn, its definitely a DUCK). Has in the past, will today and definitely in the future. See, We The People hold the true power to these uber rich, effete entertainers, movie stars, political class, Washington DC Elites and "Rootn'-Tootn" Warren Buffets, Bill Gates et al...just that they haven't awakened yet. Even Washington DC'sUS Chamber of Commerce seeking to fund Washington DC crony capitalist's will fail in their efforts. If We The People vote Allen West as President and Dr. Ben Carson as his vice...We The People will stop US Chamber of Commerce in their tracks. May seem like a good strategy, but The US Chamber of Commerce has lost the single most important item they had: namely their BRAND. Their BRAND has now become associated with sleaze, corruption, phony legislation, crooked lawmakers (Mitch McConnell comes to mind) and every crony capitalist deal-making (GM now in the forefront) imagined to Americans. NAH! The Washington DC-MSM-EAST & WEST Coast coalition is crumbling into ignominy. History repeats itself. Has, IS, and will always be the case...ends in tragedy, because We The People have to pick up the pieces and put this mess back into an operating Republic, guided by A US Constitution. Folks, the phony baloney Progressive New Left Activism in the USA is at last, crumbling under its own lies, deceit and chicanery. Pray. Amen. Take solace in this fact, register to vote and definitely VOTE. God Bless America.

"A far more significant threat to her potential candidacy is Americans’ desire for new leadership after eight years of the Obama administration."

1988: Bush.
1992: Clinton.
1996: Clinton.
2000: Bush.
2004: Bush.
2008: Obama.
2012: Obama.
2016: Clinton vs Bush(?)

I think Americans are tired of a lot more than just Obama...

Remember that picture of "western special forces" that was taken in Syria after the fighting began? The western forces were not chatting up Assad's forces, they were with rebels. I find it difficult to believe that western military forces went into Syria with blinders on. They knew who they were working with. I knew from that day that there was something big going on.

Two comments: "If the US didn't win WWII" - seriously? You did it all by your lonesome? The millions of dead Britons, Canadians, Aussies, and Kiwis, who fought from the beginning and didn't sit out the first two years, might beg to differ. Let's not talk about the 20 million Russkis.

And "The public is tired of seeing Obama’s mug, and ergo they want to see Hillary’s." Honestly - can you find me one person other than Chelsea who actually wants to SEE Hillary?!

The fundamental dishonesty of the Obama Administration has revealed itself time and time again. It is never their fault, they never make mistakes. How Press Secretary Jany Carney can deliver the dose of laughable fiction with a staright face is beyond me especially since he used to sit on the other side of the rostrum as a reporter. Sad.
