Accomplice to Evil Redux

November 4, 2009 - 9:42 am - by Michael Ledeen

Big demonstrations still going on all over the country:  Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Kermanshah, Zahedan, Arak, Mazandaran, Tabriz, Rasht confirmed so far, and no doubt we will hear of others in the next hours and days.  Lots of videos available online, showing an unprecedented level of violence, which is saying a lot.  Have a look:

  • Video: the treatment of wounded in a parking garage in Tehran:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSITmqfbwLs

  • Masses in Tehran:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b8zjI0yf9I&feature=channel

  • A girl attacked:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTQkbckUtlo&feature=channel

  • Freedom, independence and Iranian republic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk3ShQp4d-s&feature=channel

  • A poster of Khamenei being torn up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAtI5dy1fwY&feature=channel

And don’t miss the extraordinarily detailed blogging of homylafayette.

What does it mean?  I agree with an “elderly woman” to Radio Farda:

I was in the demonstrations this morning. You can’t imagine the number of security troops that had been deployed. It looked like there was one regime agent for every protester. And all this to confront people with nothing to defend themselves with. I finally understood today how scared they are. This regime is over.

The regime has failed to intimidate the people;  the effect of the violence, the brutal savagery, the mass rapes, executions, and torture is to intensify their contempt (they trampled pictures of Supreme Leader Khamenei).

Alas, their contempt is not limited to their own tyrants.  It extends to President Obama, who today issued a masterpiece of appeasement and all but groveled in begging the leaders of the Islamic Republic to make a deal:

I have made it clear that the United States of America wants to move beyond this past, and seeks a relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran based upon mutual interests and mutual respect.

He could not spare a single word for the plight of the people of Iran, who were being beaten, clubbed, stabbed and shot as he issued his statement.  He went on:

We do not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs. We have condemned terrorist attacks against Iran. We have recognized Iran’s international right to peaceful nuclear power. We have demonstrated our willingness to take confidence-building steps along with others in the international community. We have accepted a proposal by the International Atomic Energy Agency to meet Iran’s request for assistance in meeting the medical needs of its people. We have made clear that if Iran lives up to the obligations that every nation has, it will have a path to a more prosperous and productive relationship with the international community.

This is Jimmy Carter all over again, and just as Carter’s appeasement of the Islamic Republic led to the death of countless innocents, in Iran and around the world, so Obama’s appeasement will do the same.  He, and his administration, are accomplices to evil.  From Iran, via Twitter, comes the bottom line:

Gee the people of Iran seek to really CHANGE things and Obama says, let’s negotiate w/ the Nazis

Just so.

There was a woman who always suspected that her husband had affairs with other women. So every night when her husband come home from work, shortly after he took off his coat, she started to examine his clothing to find any strand of hair not belonging to her, as a proof of his fooling around. One night she found one single hair of a blond hair and she started screaming and yelling at her husband that now he is having affair with a blond woman. And the next night she finds a red hair and she raised hell about her husband infidelity with a red hair woman.

Finally the husband found out how his wife deals with him, so before coming home, he took his cloths to a dry cleaner to be washed and cleaned before going home. After arriving home, as usual, the wife started going through his cloths and could not find ANY hair! She was so shocked and upset and went back to her husband and started yelling:

NOW you are having affair with BALD women!

Reading Dr. Ledeen and people on the Right about President Obama, no matter what he does and does not, they consider it as “appeasing” the dictators in Iran! So they keep accusing him of some sort of BALD woman affair!

Yet, as a proud Iranian-American, I admire and give credit to President Obama for his today’s message saying this POWERFUL and strong statement of support to Iranian freedom fighters by stating:

“The world continues to bear witness to their powerful calls for justice, and their courageous pursuit of universal rights. It is time for the Iranian government to decide whether it wants to focus on the past, or whether it will make the choices that will open the door to greater opportunity, prosperity, and justice for its people.”

Dr. Ledeen, could you please, take a moment and play the role of President Obama and write your version of the President message for today’s event? And yet, would you please make sure what you state in public WILL NOT harm and hurt the freedom movement in Iran, where Iranian people get more attacked and tortured because they are accused of being agent of America?

LONG LIVE Iranian freedom fighters. Long live Iranian oppressors, so they will be there and have the opportunity to defend their deadly conduct in the future FAIR and JUST court of law in Iran to defend their deadly conduct.

    • Michael Ledeen

oh please. is it too much ask the president to condemn the brutality? the french did.

  2. 2. David W. Lincoln

Michael, remember how the gifts of the British Prime Minister were received, when the current occupant of the Oval Office gave him dvds. The hatred was palpable. “How dare the British Prime Minister give a gift from a ship which was in the Royal Navy which fought slave traders”.

So, anything that smacks of that perspective is suspect, at best. So, the hatred of Locke, Montesquieu, Aristotle, Plato, Cicero, Seneca, amongst others is eternal.

  3. 3. Lyddea

Ledeen on Iran… did Khamenei die again?

  4. 4. Uzi

Still no public sightings of Supreme Leader Khamenei?

  5. 5. John "birther" Samford

Michael, isn’t this what you have wanted?
POTUS (any of them, past present or future) has two options on Iran. Bomb them or surrender. You have worked hard to make sure there was no bombing so why does the surrender surprise you?
The uprising scenario is delusional. Or at least it overthrowing the government is. Your witness said there was a bully boy for every protester. He thought that means the Mad Dog Mullahs were scared. He is wrong. What it means is that the protesters don’t have the numbers, that the protest movement is to small to do the job.
Either get on board with the bombing, or stop encouraging people to useless activity.
Bombing WILL work. Go after the MDM. Drive them underground. Bomb the barracks were the bully boys stay. Drive them underground too. When the MDM and their killer cops are hiding from USAF Bombers, the people will own the streets.
Regime change won’t stop the Iranian nuclear weapons program. Israel will do that.

“This is Jimmy Carter all over again, and just as Carter’s appeasement of the Islamic Republic led to the death of countless innocents, in Iran and around the world, so Obama’s appeasement will do the same.”

There’s stupid, and then there’s PJM stupid.
Maybe Obama should follow W, who huffed and puffed for 8 years, removed Iran’s #1 enemy, and got nowhere. Or maybe he should follow Reagan and arm the Iranians.

  7. 7. Dave Surls

“I have made it clear that the United States of America wants to move beyond this past, and seeks a relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran based upon mutual interests and mutual respect.”

Exactly what I would expect to hear from our anti-American “president”.

He wants to get tough with American allies (like by leaning on the Israelis), and crawl on his belly in front of our enemies.

Forget about our embassies being attacked and our troops getting blown up by the mad mullahs and their followers…we just want to move past all that.

What a scumbag the idiots of America elected as POTUS.

As for myself, I’d rather destroy the Islamic Republic (wipe it off the map so to speak) than crawl.

But, then I’m not wee lil’ Barry, disciple of Jerry “Goddam America” Wright.

  8. 8. Anthony

Mr. Ledeen, what is your realistic policy for Iran? I predict that one way or another it will involve screwing over the very people you claim to support… you know the freedom fighters in Iran.

Lets cut the crap and say what we really mean. We dont really care for Iranians. We just want US interests met in the region, and that is the use of force to break the regimes that defy us one by one. And the hell with their people.

It has turned out wonderfully so far… so Iran is going to be next! Viva la democracy-promotion!

  9. 9. Phineas

Obama’s craven behavior in the face of the mullah’s repression is disgusting. As you point out, Michael, his sin of omission make him as much an accomplice as anyone wielding a baton in Tehran. The United States stands for human liberty or else it has no reason for existence. The president as leader of this country -and putative leader of what’s left of the free world- should be amongst the first to “call out” Iran’s dictators and at least offer moral support to people genuinely seeking their freedom.

    This is shameful and embarrassing.

  10. 10. Anthony

Why have tou deleted my post? Here, I’ll try again!

Mr. Ledeen, what is your realistic policy for Iran? I predict that one way or another it will involve screwing over the very people you claim to support… you know the freedom fighters in Iran.

Lets cut the nonsense and say what we really mean. We dont really care for Iranians. We just want US interests met in the region, and that is the use of force to break the regimes that defy us one by one. And the hell with their people.

It has turned out wonderfully so far… so Iran is going to be next! Viva la democracy-promotion!

  11. 11. Farhad Samimi

The Newtonian-Cartesian view of the world as parleyed by some of intellectuals thinks that every thing must happen from within a system. This is a “reductionist world view”, and does not work with the integrated world we live in. The new world is highly integrated in which the systems are not “closed systems” anymore (see Systems Theory, Bertalanffy,Kuhne, et. al). If the west (US and Europe)is genuinely pro democracy, they should support Iranian popular calls for democracy and human rights.

I have no doubt that if there were no outside support, Saddam would still be in power. This is not to cover the mistakes in the execution of what happened , nor the miscalculations about Al-Qaida, and Iranian Hezbollah.

The Obama administration is trying to be an “Smart Alec” here by trying to sit in two chairs, simultaneously. Today, Iranian people realize this two prong approach does not work and they are chanting “Obama Obama, stay with US or with THEM (translation in meaning)”

  12. 12. HonestJon

    1. Alireza: Here’s the thing, ma’am: Obama has been president for 10 months now. His constant entreaties for mutual respect, communication, and dialogue are reaping the very same result as his predecessor. And that is NOTHING! The Iranian government is thumbing its nose at him while developing new clandestine processing facilities. They’re not coming clean on what they know or where their other illegal sites are located. Even worse, the Iranian government isn’t afraid of being attacked by the USA.

Worse yet is the fact that with all the foot dragging by the Iranian government and the constant begging for dialogue by Obama, Israel gets closer and closer to attacking on its own.

Personally, I’d rather Obama be a critic of the totalitarian, brutal government of Iran while supporting Iran’s people with a few words of encouragement of America’s commitment to democracy than for all his dithering, which buys time for Iran to develop weaponry. Further, it reduces the time remaining until Israel strikes. And they WILL strike. That will be a gigantic disaster of worldwide magnitude!

I’d like to refer you to a quote by Winston Churchill concerning Hitler and Chamberalin: “He had a choice between Dishonor and War. He chose Dishonor. He shall have War.”

    And so it goes…

Mr. Ledeen: Where did the little caption go which was at the top of the page a few months ago that said something to the effect of: “PJM in solidarity with the Iranian democracy movement”? (paraphrased) And why don’t you put it back there? (Calling Mr. Simon!)

    regards

  13. 13. Anat

Mr. Alireza. I strongly recommend that you see the film Amen. by Costa-Gavras. It is set in central Europe of 1942-5. It is full of people who make compelling diplomatic arguments like yours and Obama’s while the trains keep going full in one direction and empty on return.

  14. It would be unreasonable to expect Obama to issue a strong statement against the Iranian regime. He’s sunk too much of his personal capital into his public position: that the mullahs can be negotiated with — despite the complete lack of reciprocation from any authoritative figure within the regime. While the mullahs are laughing up their sleeves, Obama is probably casting about for something more to offer them if they’ll just, pretty please with a cherry on top, agree to discuss limitations to their nuclear development program.

Given recent events, Obama is staring down the twin barrels of international irrelevance and domestic emasculation. Like most hopeless gamblers, he’s much more likely to double down, offering the mullahs everything but his Nobel Peace Prize just for a promise of undated future negotiations, than to cut his losses by accepting that he faces an implacable enemy. After all, what else could he do that wouldn’t undercut all his previous rhetoric about remaking America’s image in the larger world?

  15. 15. Tex Expatriate

You’re a poor thing, Alireza, a poor thing indeed. Obama is in fact an appeaser, one of the worst sort. A coward as well as a fascist and tyrant.

Dr. Ledeed won’t answer your question but Doctor Expatriate will: Obama should have said, “I encourage all you true Persian and Iranian patriots to overthrow your regime. America always will support Liberty and oppose tyranny.” Your Obama can’t say that because he supports tyranny here in America and everywhere else. He is, my dear, a radical socialist.

  16. 16. KDW

It would be easy to get Iran to change it’s behavior if
President Obama had something to give that the Iranians
want. The problem is the only things the wackos running
Iran really want are A. NUCLEAR WEAPONS B. THE DESTRUCTION
OF ISRAEL C. THE DESTRUCTION OF THE UNITED STATES C. CREATION
OF A WORLDWIDE CALIPHATE. Unless Obama is willing to give the
Iranians any of these things, he really has nothing to
    negotiate.

The Iranian leaders prove, on a daily basis, that they
couldn’t care less about the economic well being of their
people. The first clue should be when we see them hacking
their citizens to death in the streets. Obama just doesn’t
seem to get it – he is wasting his time talking to them.
There just isn’t anything to bribe the Iranian government
    with.

It is really frightening that somebody this gullible and
stupid is our President. This isn’t going to end well.

  17. 17. Keith

After all that groveling, this today from The Washington Post:

‘”Iran’s supreme leader, spurning what he described as several personal overtures from President Obama, warned Tuesday that negotiating with the United States would be “naive and perverted” and that Iranian politicians should not be “deceived” into starting such talks.”‘

    Khamenei goes on to say:

‘”Whenever they smile at the officials of the Islamic revolution, when we carefully look at the situation, we notice that they are hiding a dagger behind their back,” he said. “They have not changed their intentions.”‘

Obama “naive and perverted?” This supreme leader sounds like someone I can deal with.

  18. 18. Keith

By the way, with one exception, there seems to be an abnormally small number of comments tonight. Made a seemingly innocuous comment on another article and it was never passed through the moderators.

  19. 19. shiraz

    Alireza,
Please stop making excuses for Obama.
It does not matter if he supports the freedom movement or not the brutal regime will always play the American agent card.
Are you that naive or are you another indoctrinated supporter of Obama?
Obama has been talking from both sides of his mouth on Iran issue for a long time in not to lose in the event of any side’s coming on top. But by doing so he does not realize that he has already disappointed millions of Iranian freedom fighters for proving his lack of leadership and his weakness in taking a stance on anything ever since he has come to become President specially the issue of Iran and the democratic aspiration of its people. Thus you see young Iranians today challenging him on where he stands either on their side or on the regime’s side.
You need to open up your minds more and think objectively in order to be fair and sensible.

  20. 20. a Duoist

Let’s see what Mr. Obama has to say about the Iran-to-Syria arms ship captured today by the Israelis. Whatever he says or if he says nothing, that’s the best sign of how he intends to deal next year with Iran as a nuclear-armed theofascist state.

Mr. Reagan began a tradition of highlighting the names of people incarcerated and repressed in democidal countries, something Sharansky wrote was enormously inspiring to the imprisoned in the Soviet Union. I guess from Mr. Obama’s studied silence on Iran’s repressed, Mr. Sharansky’s book never made it to Mr. Obama’s reading list.

  21. 21. chukalukabus

Would you guys please post the links to the quotes. Need context.

Of note, The kenyan just came out today with a 17 billion dollar “cost savings plan” that killed nuclear expansion in the US(the continuing saga of the administrations war on all energy). By way of eliminating funding for the only long-term storage and nuclear fuel recycling facility in the USA, he validated the enviro-wackos the only cogent argument they have… long term storage and recycling.

How is it that the kenyan is fine with Iran going nuclear, while his actions seek to eliminate such in the USA? How is it that freedom seeking folks in Iran are used in the context of a barganing chip in this modus?

Never has the USA used God given freedom as a right to all human beings as a chip on the table. What was once the core principle of our existance is now to be bargained away for a concession for a thing we will not even allow ourselves to have. It’s an embarassment.

  22. 22. WestWright

Thank you Mr. Ledeen, I am very impressed with the Protestors courage.
Alireza sounds like a paid lackey for the Islamofacist Iranian Regime. Why is this person in this country and what was that idiotic bald affair allusion?

  23. 23. Thomas_L......

Death to the dictator! One term for Obama! A brain for Alireza!

  24. 24. KDW

President Obama might be able to curb the Iranian misbehavior if he actually had something to trade that the Iranians really wanted. Unfortunately, the problem is that the Iranians want the following:
    A. NUCLEAR WEAPONS B. THE DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL C. THE DESTRUCTION OF THE UNITED STATES D. A WORLWIDE CALIPHATE. Unless Obama is willing to
give them any of these things, he is wasting his time reaching out to them.

Groveling to the Iranians will not solve the problem. It is frightning that someone as gullible as Obama is our current President.

  25. 25. Lynn

“The world continues to bear witness to their powerful calls for justice, and their courageous pursuit of universal rights. It is time for the Iranian government to decide whether it wants to focus on the past, or whether it will make the choices that will open the door to greater opportunity, prosperity, and justice for its people.”

Who wouldn’t be proud of this vague speech? Perhaps it’s a warning to the Iran Government that events are leaking to the outside world and they are not doing a good enough job stopping freedom of information.

Iran is very good a clamping down on news coming in and going out of Iran, and hopefully they will do so again so that we can pretend that nothing is happening.

Proud of what? Words with no deeds to follow? Yes, of course.

  26. 26. rachel peepers

Let me say it one more time so everybody understands. A neo-communist took the oath of office of President of the United States on January 20th, 2009.

President Barack Obama, a follower of Saul Alinsky, is out to change America.

He wants to redistribute wealth. Scapegoat and effectively eliminate the largest creators of U.S. wealth, the corporate leaders of this country. Much like Hitler scapegoated the Jews of Germany. It’s right out of Alinsky’s playbook.

He wants to socialize medicine so the government controls who gets the treatments needed to recover.

He wants to neuter the U.S. military that Obama views as defenders of the constitution, freedom and individual liberty in this country.

He wants to end U.S. sovereignty, and put the people of the United States under world laws and courts, thereby taking the teeth out of federal laws and the U.S. constitution, which Obama feels give the states and the people much too much freedom and
    self determination.

He wants the schools to be an arm of the government; used for neo-communist indoctrination.

He wants the black radical churches to act as an arm of the government, used for neo-communist indoctrination.

He wants to appeal to the poor and the minorities in this country in order for them to join him in disenfranchising the present day managers and owners of the private enterprise system in the United States.

He wants to devalue the dollar, create hyper-inflation, and replace the dollar with a European form of money.

He wants to keep us dependent on foreign oil. (During the election he said oil independence would be his first priority. He’s done nothing to end our dependence on foreign oil. And, naturally, the mainstream media has ignored the lie.

And, of course, another Neo-Com objective is to put the means of production in the hands of the federal government. The car companies. The pharmaceutical companies. The food industry.

Once Obama essentially controls the power and finances of the United States, he’ll try to take over the media; killing
constitutionally guaranteed freedom of the press. Eventually, the government will disseminate all information.

If you think I’m kidding, or exaggerating, you better think again.

And don’t assume that an angry U.S. citizenry can simply vote Obama out. With enough votes in Congress, he can extend his term in office while building up the machinery to steal future elections. Not just with ACORN, but with a slew of ACORNS, all under
different names. The first modern day election to be stolen was the Franken win in Minnesota. Obama sees it as one of many.

With the governor victories in Virginia and New Jersey, Obama and his henchmen now believe time is of the essence. Instead of slowing change down, the kind that will result in the people of the United States figuratively and even literally being in chains, you’ll be noticing a speed up of Neo-Com tactics and indoctrination. If you have children, you had better be vigilant regarding the Obama indoctrination being started up in schools all over the U.S.

If you’re looking for a real smoking gun that telegraphed Obama’s intentions, just remember the Black Panthers voter intimidation case in Philadelphia, Even though the Panthers didn’t show up in court to argue their case, Obama and Eric Holder, the U.S. Attorney General, ordered the case dropped without substantive explanation. Who do you think tipped off the Black Panthers that, if they didn’t show up, their case would be dropped?

Let’s face it, Obama pals around with a guy named William Ayers who on the front cover of Chicago Magazine was shown joyfully stomping on the American flag. In effect, Obama’s been doing the same thing since he was sworn in.

Don’t forget, while living in Chicago, Obama went to Trinity church, which spewed the Black radical rhetoric of hated of whites and scapegoating of the wealthy for twenty years. Incredibly, Obama said he never heard it. And the Obama lapdog press never checked into it.

Today, in Washington, Michele Backmann, (D,MN) is leading thousands into the nation’s capitol to tell Congress they’re having no more of Obama’s attempts at national destruction of our core values and ideals.

From now on, let your presence be felt, too.

Now is the time America must speak as one. The land of the free and the home of the brave needs its people to stand up and be counted.

I’m Rachel Peepers. Join me. If Obama continues to try to take away my freedoms, our traditions and our country, he’s going to have, on his hands, the fight of his life.

Freedom isn’t something I plan to let slip through my fingers. If they want me to let go of liberty, they’ll have to pry cold dead fingers from my copy of the U.S. constitution.

  27. 27. Azadandish

Dr Ledeen, yesterday our people made their viewpoint clear :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC5IlZCb9Do

It was addressed to Mr Obama. It says: Obama, Obama, yaa baa oon-haa yaa baa maa
( Obama!-just choose- be with them or be with us ). There is no way in between and it seems Mr Obama has made his decision. He has chosen Khamenei – Ahmadinezhad. It will be very sad if in the near future we hear ” death to the US” and this time by those who seek democracy in our country.

  28. 28. shiraz

Alireza read more please. Only by reading more and doing research you can educate yourself and open up!
From WSJ about 2 weeks ago:

Does Obama Believe in Human Rights? Human rights “interfere” with President Obama’s campaign against climate change.
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704500604574481341183751038.html?mod=wsj_share_facebook

Iran: Mr. Obama’s week-long silence on Iran’s “internal affairs” following June’s fraudulent re-election was widely noted. Not so widely noted are the administration’s attempts to put maximum distance between itself and human-rights groups working the Iran beat.

Earlier this year, the State Department denied a grant request for New Haven, Conn.-based Iran Human Rights Documentation Center. The Center maintains perhaps the most extensive record anywhere of Iran’s 30-year history of brutality. The grant denial was part of a pattern: The administration also abruptly ended funding for Freedom House’s Gozaar project, an online Farsi- and English-language forum for discussing political issues.

It’s easy to see why Tehran would want these groups unfunded and shut down. But why should the administration, except as a form of preemptive appeasement?

  29. 29. johnt

This goes beyond even Carter. It is plainly an endorsement of the legitimacy of the Iranian regime, a tacit excuse for brutality and dictatorship, an approval of anything goes, a willful blind eye to cruelty and oppression.
Way to go Hussien Obama, show us your true and ugly colors.
    What filth !

  30. 30. jodetoad

Looks like it is too much to ask. At least, we have given up expecting him to do any such thing. Who knows what his values are, they certainly aren’t what he claims.

  31. 31. Professor Guvinoff

Thanks Mr. Ledeen for keeping us informed when the news outlets seemingly conspire to keep us in the dark. It’s evident that the street protesters are quite courageous, and the fear seems now on the side of those who have both the supposed authority and the real possession of firearms!

This cannot be good for the regime. It looks like a process in slow motion, and it’s hard to imagine how the regime could possibly reclaim the momentum, (if there can be momentum in molasses) because even tyrants need public tacit assent. Certainly the Saudi monarch knows this, otherwise he would not keep distributing bribes, as is routinely done on the peninsula. What “favor” could the Iranian people still accept from their rulers?

The President of the United States of America is in the privileged position of bringing clarity to the situation, if only he could find the courage to use the teleprompter for a just cause!

  32. 32. Delia

“is it too much ask the president to condemn the brutality”

    Apparently, Michael.

    :\

  33. 33. Curt

The American media is really downplaying the demonstrations. When they do address them, they talk about “hundred” of demonstrators.

I was really impressed with the video showing the “masses in Tehran.” I believe it belies the MSM’s depictions.

Has Khamenei been seen at all? One of the MSMs quoted him ridiculing the demonstrators. Was that really him, or a statement out of his office?

  34. 34. winston

When it comes to Iran, Obama is a moron.

  35. 35. Hankmeister

Alireza is an Islamofascist appeaser just like Mr. Obama. The illustration given in the first post is a total non sequitor and has nothing to do with the reality that the election of Mr. Obama merely emboldened Muslim radicals around the world to grab for more headlines and power and Mr. Obama has demonstrated he isn’t the least bit serious about an ideology which is committed to every man, woman and child being in total submission to global Islam.

And frankly Mr. Obama has even bigger credibility problems when it comes to questions about the American economy and the recession that his foolish policies and tax-funded “bailouts” have inexorably deepened. What can one say about a President who disses our friends and panders to our enemies abroad? Truly a pathetic, inexperienced, naive empty suit in the form of one Barack Hussein Obama.

  36. 36. Peter Anderson

Just the fact we are “negotiating” with Iran is wrong. For Obama to not forcefully condemn the leadership is an act of moral and political cowardice. It’s time to break off talks and isolate Iran while at the same time, giving support to the protesters.

Does anyone have a spine in Washington?

  37. 37. Kamran

Chant at some of the demonstrations: “Obama, where are you? Either you are with us or with them (the regime).”

By all means, Obama defenders, spin this.

  38. 38. Jack in Silver Spring

Why is Iran different from Honduras? You quote the President as saying: “We do not interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.” But they sure as heck had no qualms interfering in Honduras’ internal affairs. Our President seems to like autocrats more than democrats (small d).

So Alireza, what you’re saying is – cover up well enough (dry cleaning clothes before going home? quicker than mine) then any accusation is wild. Accepting plausible deniability being such a great way to run foreign policy.

You want a “”fair and just” court to try the long-lived oppressors – you might just have to fight for it. Perhaps this might be easier if Obama wasn’t making concessions to the existing regime, the freedom fighters you mention might actually like to know they will be supported before they make a move.

What Obama is saying in the quote you so proudly admire is “keep the internal noise down and we can do business as long as you get it off the front page”, he’s not really hoping for a just society.

President Obama, no matter what he does and does not…

And he has done what…exactly ?

Beyond repeatedly throwing words of appeasement towards Iran’s fanatics?

Here’s a take from another “proud Iranian-American” who reports the people in the streets aren’t buying the Great Satan baloney those fanatics try so desperately to sell them.

    Brave Iranians ruin hate-U.S. fest

    Evil, thy name is Obama.

Surely those seeking release from the jackboots of the Iranian Hitler and his accomplices have NO reason to trust the US under the leadership of Obama.

    NONE at all.

Further, the fact that Obama has not jumped to aid the dissidents in toppling the Islamists (which he actively seeks to give cover too), will surely lead to scores of deaths. This is because in short order Israel will attack Iran. YES they will, as Washington has given them NO other recourse.

Consequently there will be collateral damage and innocents will die. Their deaths will have twin addresses – the Iranian leaderships AND the White House, or dare I say, the Black House.

I agree with all those who can see that Obama in regards to Iran, and also Honduras is nothing but an immoral appeaser, weak negotiator and at the end a bigger sore loser. In response to massive Iranian freedom fighting people on Nov 4th he came out to say that he wishes to see the situation calm down and law gets enforced!!! Which law Mr. Obama? Law of Islamic murders, rapes, tortures, arrests, beatings that is being enforced by the brutal ruling regime in Iran onto its innocent freedom fighting people? Obama is that what you wish so that you can go back to business and cut a deal with the murderers of Islamic regime????
Where is the outrage in the international community from the so-called human rights activists and liberals?
The brutal terrorist regime has arrested thousands according to the regime itself on Nov 4th and God knows what will happen to them and then Obama nation has the audacity to continue praising their God in the form of empty suited historically and politically inexperienced and ignorant Obama????
We have been here once before back during Nazi era and we all know what happened with all the appeasement. This time we are not dealing with Nazis but a much more brute force that has been able to expand its grip onto all corners of the world with no accountability whatsoever. 2 Days ago Israel intercepts another huge shipment of arms from Islamic Republic going to Lebanon which would have been enough to withstand 2 months of assaults if needed and of course no MSM coverage of this (no surprise here) because it will disrupt Mr Obama’s plan of outreach to the barbarians!!!
What a sick world we live in really!!!

To expect Barack Hussein Obama to do a 180 in regards to how he was moulded by Wright, Ayers and other unsavoury characters, is the same as expecting wings to suddenly appear on pigs.

It is not going to happen!

Given the dangers the world is in, waiting for a new President in the Oval Office simply is not in the interests of those who smile, instead of being irritated, at http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110002994 for that statement isn’t only
about wmd in Iraq, it is about the underpinnings of the modern nation state.

Therefore, Michael, I challenge you to this:
find those people who are willing to bust their butts so that the United States regains
the level of trust exhibited by the manly men
who signed that declaration. For the people you find are the needed ones to comprise a US government in exile.

Put another way, the old allies of the US simply do not have the time for the current batch of deformed souls, zombies, and other assorted unsavory characters of the same ilk who have their paws on the levers of power inside the Beltway, to get their act together.

The iranian regime is motivated and empowered by Islamic jihadism.

Its ends, global control, and genocide, are intolerable.

Modification of those goals, for generations, has proved impossible.

Dumbaba will do nothing to interdict this evil.

Our hope lies in Netanyahu and the Israeli Air Force.

    Can Dumbama buy him off?

The whole world knows that the USA and Iran have had a very close relationship over the last 30 years. It was not an easy one, but both share the same goals.
What Obama is doing is nothing more than bringing this relationship from the closet.
Bush did more to Mullah-Iran than Khomeini or Najad.
Any hand that messes with Iran will be severed by non other than the Americans.
What is Iran doing now: fomenting instability in Pakistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and a host of other countries. All of that is the interest of the American policy in the region.
It is about time the closet is open and aired up.
Al-qaida has been and is now an Iranian operation. As for 9/11, Iran’s figners are all over the place through their Al-qaida operation. Worse yet, we knew about it from the get-go and probably did not mind it.
By intentionally delivering Iraq to Iran, any hope of balance of power that would moderate the Mullah is gone. This is in tune with the belief that an expansionist Iran is in the interest of the USA.

Such an excellent write-up! I have no clue how you wrote this article..it’d take me days. Well worth it though, I’d suspect. Have you considered selling advertising space on your website?

    • Michael Ledeen

i am sure Pajamas Media would love to sell you space.
