Voicing opposition last week to the continuing resolution that would fund the entire federal government except for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) delivered an emotional, rhetoric-filled speech on the House floor. Calling the bill a “wolf in wolf’s clothing,” Pelosi said it would result in cuts to biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health.

“The underlying bill to shut down government, the continuing resolution, is reason enough to object to it because that bill will cost at least one million jobs in the course of the next year,” Pelosi said.

Declaring “we are not here to expand government,” Pelosi went on to reveal something that many of us have suspected for years — that government is the progressives’ god:

It will not only do that, it will cut our investments in the future: in education, in biomedical research – the National Institutes of Health has the biblical power to cure [emphasis added].

Pelosi went on to say, “Where there is scientific opportunity, we have a moral obligation to meet that scientific obligation with the resources to respect the talent, the intellect, the God-given intellect of the science to cure.”

This is not the first time Pelosi has endowed the National Institutes of Health with biblical powers. At a press conference in March of 2011 celebrating the first anniversary of Obamacare, Pelosi made the same claim:

There’s a cut in funding for the National Institutes of Health. This is not a healthy thing for our country because that research has answers. You know that every family in America is one telephone call, one diagnosis, one accident away from needing the kind of biomedical research that can cure–really have the biblical power to cure in a very, very special way and so to cut back on that research is wrong.

Pelosi didn’t elaborate on the “very, very special way” that the NIH has the “biblical power to cure,” and she doesn’t explain how cutting government funding to the mighty federal government would hamper the Almighty’s ability to cure the sick. Many would rightly argue that a government bureaucracy is not particularly well-suited to delivering health care, let alone biblical healing.

Whoa........ nancy has gone around the bend. The last I heard, the Catholic Church said pelosi should be denied communion for her stance on abortion. What did she do, start her own religion? The church of the "obamanation"? It amazes me that the folks in her district keep reelecting her.

We've gotten to the point where "Nancy Pelosi says something mind-numbing stupid" is this generation's "Dog bites man" type stories.

Woodrow Wilson defined "liberty" as each person being integrated into a perfectly tuned machine -- the various parts of the locomotive moving in perfect, frictionless, unison -- with each part doing its prescribed, State-determined role.

Of course, the elites of the State would be doing the prescribing, and, as it turns out, not really have to fit into the machine themselves.

Kinda like Congress passing ObummerCare, but exempting themselves from the consequences because, well, shut up.

Contrast that with a free enterprise system where parties contract together to the mutual benefit of all involved in the contract.

It's no wonder "From Each According To Their Ability; To Each According To Their Need" fails every time it's tried.

"...the National Institutes of Health has the biblical power to cure..."

Nancy Pelosi has said some really asinine things during her tenure but, to me, this ranks up there way above the "we have to pass it to know what's in it" gaffe.
While it is true that we need funding for medical research, the claim that it is equitable to Biblical healing is erroneous. God heals with just His Word. No man/woman or institute has ever been able to do that nor will they ever be.

Yes, she's right of course.

Not only does the NIH have the power to heal, it alone, by sheer force of will, is preventing Guam from capsizing due to the presence of so many imperialist Marines.

This bill will sink the entire island! And the earth is melting anyway!!!!!!!

And her people love to have it so.

Well Pelosi said it all. But there is the rub. Given what she said we know her insane. That is fact. We also know she is more than insane. But we need not discuss deposits and lairs now.

Follow please. We know her comments insane. But there is no therapeutic school that will say so. And we know there is no therapeutic school that will think so. We know this because if some of them thought so they would say so. Maybe not a lot but some of them.

Nancy Pelosi despite what you think of her is no fool however convenient it is for herself to present herself as one.

Here is the bottom line - as of this moment of time she has one and we have lost. What to do? What to do?

So these one million jobs that will be ending ... will they be coming out of the 4 million jobs she claimed the bill would create in the first place? If so, I don't see how this is a bad thing since I don't think those jobs were ever really created.

I say do away with the National Institutes of Health. Let the private sector do the work. Pelosi has obviously been drinking to much of her elite wine in upstate California. Wondering if those vineyards are run by the the National Institutes of Winery?

Too funny. Nancy is now a heretic, well close enough to a heretic for government work anyway.

The "Biblical power to heal" is in fact faith healing, which as every person knows is based on the power of suggestion, is in fact nothing more than the placebo effect.

So under Obamacare the NIH is going to hand out placebos? A lot of us suspected as much all along...

This is not true. Healing comes from God through faith of the Believer, which God granted in the first place. Sometimes He even heals those who are not of the "Faith" for His own reasons. He doesn't have to pass Laws or Health Mandates nor does He need Research Labs. He speaks and it is so.
