A post on Instapundit revealed that Glenn Reynolds is a Keurig drinker. In the battle over lazy man’s (busy man’s?) coffee, I would like to strike a blow for Nespresso. We have been using their espresso capsules and machines in our house for several years now with great satisfaction. Great capuccino. Also, their accoutrements are aesthetically pleasing – sort of the Apple of coffee. Refill capsules arrive at Amazon speed too.
Of course, the big edge for Nespresso and Keurig vs. a full on espresso machine is… no cleanup!

Here in Eastern Kansas we have what may just be the world’s hardest water. We went through I don’t know how many coffee pots, replacing them pretty much yearly. This included several expensive ones including a Bunn.
The only one that’s lasted is a $20 Walmart Special, which has been happily plugging away brewing a caffeine delivery system for three years now without liming up and breaking.
Agree with Patrick! Let’s hear it for basic coffee makers. Making coffee a cup at a time is a practice that will never catch on in my coffee loving household. Also, have never had a cup of Keurig coffee that didn’t taste like Sanka. Why won’t I be surprised to go to a holiday party this year and get to make my own cup of coffee? Ooo that will be impressive!?!
Have you tried Tassimo?
We have a Keurig machine at work – a good choice for a small/medium office since folks can buy whatever coffee they want and we don’t have to brew a whole pot for a single cup. It’s good for coffee, but the teas aren’t great – even if you flush the system first it still tastes “off”.
I’d love a nespresso too, but there aren’t enough espresso drinkers here. I opted for a small electric moka pot for a taste of Italia.
We have both. My wife uses the Keurig for her French Vanilla coffee. I use the nespresso. It is the second espresso maker I have had and am very happy with it. My old machine was a chore to clean. This is no bother at all. Good products if the convenience is worth the expense and ‘good enough’ quality of the coffee.
well we have ILLY. it’s terrific. and it looks good too. and the machine costs a lot less than Nes…
I’m a nespresso person myself. Makes a great cup of espresso every time with no complicated instructions, cleanup of maintenance issues.
