Rule of Law

UPDATE: Another explosive passage indicates both that former U.S. Attorney and current Tulane Dean Jim Letten 1) may have engaged in unethical conduct subjecting him to a bar complaint, and 2) that higher DOJ officials were informed about what was going on but did not act, and further, that they covered up the outrageous conduct in the trial:

A current dean at Tulane Law, former United States Attorney Jim Letten, knew for months that lawyers in his office were secretly blogging at the Times Picayune website to influence the outcome of a criminal case. Yet Letten never instructed his lawyers to inform United States District Judge Kurt Englehardt about their shenanigans, and never did so himself for months.

And this is significant ... why? Letten is a Dean. Full stop. I don't suppose one can characterize employing him as an Assistant outrage.

One correction: David D. Meyer is the "current dean of Tulane Law," not Letten. Tulane's website lists Letten as one of seven assistant deans.

It's significant because it's factually incorrect to say that Letten is "Dean at Tulane Law" and thus imply that he is the head of the institution, as you did here. He's not the head of the institution. Simple as that. Do you have something against getting your facts straight?

The most significant issue is the fact Tulane pays him to be a dean, not what level of Dean he has attained. He is paid to teach law students. He behaved as he did in this case. That to most people would be the significant issue. The story says "Now, it has a dean." That is accurate.

Now don't go insulting liars and thieves by associating them with lawyers.

Some see the light and esquire to be bloggers. Some, while with their bellies to the Bar, have their necks on the block in exposing their errant fellows.
