Joe Biden Says There Are Three Genders; Grabs Student's Arm When She Asks 'What Are They?'

In answer to a student’s question at the Iowa State Fair on Friday, former Vice President Joe Biden proclaimed that there are “at least three” genders. When asked to explain what they were, Biden dismissed the young woman’s question. “Don’t play games with me, kid,” he said irritably.  Then he grabbed her arm forcefully and added “by the way,  the first one to come out for marriage was me.”

She asked former VP Joe Biden how many genders there are.
Joe answered “at least 3.”

Biden was apparently referring to gay marriage, and no, he wasn’t the first person to come out for that, obviously.

He might have been the first person in the Obama White House to come out publicly and advocate for “men marrying men, women marrying women” in 2012, but that was chalked up at the time as another example of Joe Biden putting his foot in his mouth. The official administration position on gay marriage was that they were “evolving” because Obama was running for reelection and didn’t want to take a firm stand on the controversial issue.

The White House quickly walked back Biden’s remarks:

The vice president was saying what the president has said previously—that committed and loving same-sex couples deserve the same rights and protections enjoyed by all Americans, and that we oppose any effort to rollback those rights. That’s why we stopped defending the constitutionality of section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act in legal challenges and support legislation to repeal it. Beyond that, the Vice President was expressing that he too is evolving on the issue, after meeting so many committed couples and families in this country.

“This doesn’t even appear to have been a trial balloon; if it was, the White House wouldn’t have shot it down so quickly,” The New Yorker opined. “It looks like just another case of Biden sticking his foot in his mouth.”
