Donald Trump Is Running Against Three Democrat Presidents

Have you noticed that Donald Trump isn’t just running against Joe Biden? It’s true. We all know that Joe Biden doesn’t have what it takes to excite the base. Sure, leftist actors like Rob Reiner and the guy who played Luke Skywalker pretend that Biden is the greatest president to have ever lived, but deep down, you know they don’t mean it.

And frankly, Biden’s campaign knows he doesn’t have the coattails or star power to campaign on his own. Two years ago, Biden signed the latest executive fix to Obamacare, and Barack Obama was present for the White House jamboree to celebrate. It was a telling event because Biden wound up mindlessly wandering on stage alone as his fellow Democrats were all clamoring over Obama. To say that Obama upstaged Biden is an understatement. More recently, his campaign visits to a Wawa and a Sheetz in Pennsylvania proved just how little star power he actually has.

Meanwhile, he’s been heavily criticized for his lack of availability, only to come out for the softest of softball interviews. For example, take his recent one with Howard Stern, in which he put his foot in his mouth by saying he would be happy to debate Trump — a complete reversal of his campaign’s longstanding refusal to commit to any debates.

Obviously, Biden needs help whenever possible. And he’s gotten it.

At the end of March, Biden held a star-studded fundraiser that featured Obama and Bill Clinton alongside him. Perhaps they were babysitting Biden to make sure he didn’t say anything stupid during the event’s moderated discussion with Stephen Colbert, or maybe he needed them to help get the wealthy Democrat donors to write checks. I suspect it was both.

The same day of the fundraiser, the Biden/Obama/Clinton trio also did an interview on the “SmartLess” podcast hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes. Obviously, it wasn’t a hard-hitting interview, and Biden’s de facto handlers Obama and Clinton had to step in for him occasionally. For example, at one point, Batemen asked Biden why he hasn't done an interview with Sean Hannity to talk about his record. It couldn’t be more clear that the question was for Biden and necessitated a response from Biden, yet it was Obama who stepped in to answer the question.

Biden’s attempts to answer questions were not great, either, like when he blamed “disinformation” for why he’s trailing Trump in the polls.

What’s really hilarious is that the interview was just released on Monday — roughly a month after it was recorded. I suspect even with Obama and Clinton helping Biden to answer questions, it took a significant amount of editing to make the interview not too embarrassing for Biden. But it’s amazing to see that Biden needs the help of two other Democrat presidents while on the campaign trail, yet Trump is still beating him. Recent polls show Trump winning in all of the battleground states.

It’s challenging enough for any candidate to face one opponent, but Trump is essentially campaigning against and competing in the fundraising race against three Democrat presidents.

And he’s still winning.
