Fact Check: Antifa Is for Angry White Fascists
So problematic. TMZ has more diversity in their collection of mugshots from New Hampshire's North Country. You'll find a better cross-section of intersectionality on Martha Stewart's mailing list. Or maybe these are just everyone's headshots from a recent casting call for a reboot of "Fargo."
After sending journalist Andy Ngo to an overnight hospital stay for a brain-bleed last week for the crime of reporting while Asian (or was his crime being gay?), Antifa thugs took their audacity to new lows over the weekend. In more Portland street violence last week, the Rose City Antifa account blamed John Blum for getting in the way of their fists and clubs.
Valerie Richardson reported:
“Oregon III% member John Blum rushed into a crowd of anti-fascist protesters swinging a metal baton at them … the protesters defended themselves,” tweeted Always Antifascist, the Rose City Antifa account.
Mr. Blum insisted that’s not the way it happened. He said he was trying to help a friend who was under siege as well as protect himself after being sprayed by mace. He suffered bruises, a cut over his eye and a gash to his head that required four staples at the emergency room, while his attackers appeared to escape unscathed.
Or as Blum put it in an interview, "The whole reason we do this is because in my opinion, they’re trying to stop us from doing this. Why do they have a right to stop people from doing what they feel is right? To be able to express themselves?"
Antifa may take over the streets, intimidate people, and beat them if they aren't sufficiently intimidated. And people like Blum had best keep their mouths shut about it, because Antifa is fighting fascism when they send old people and gay Asian-Americans to the hospital.
Robby Soave wrote for Quillette last week that Antifa is "in love with street violence." He describes the recent scene in Portland:
Masked protesters known simultaneously as the “black bloc” (because they wear black clothes and hoods to mask their identities) and “antifa” (as in anti-fascist) smashed the windows of a local Starbucks and a Bank of America. They also set a limousine on fire. How these acts of property damage were intended to undermine Trump remains a mystery, given that the CEO of Starbucks and many Bank of America employees were financial supporters of the Hillary Clinton campaign. The limo driver, we learned, was a Muslim immigrant.
A rioter knocked a friend of mine, the journalist Philip Wegmann, to the ground, causing him to briefly lose consciousness—even though, Wegmann told me, he was wearing credentials that clearly identified him as a member of the press. Wegmann is a writer for conservative news outlets such as Washington Examiner and The Daily Signal, however. And one of the main principles of the new activist left is that unfriendly media organizations should not have the right to cover their activities, even on public property.
And as everyone knows, there's no better way to fight fascism than to silence dissent with state-sanctioned violence. Think I'm kidding about that? John Dempsey (and others) noted for Townhall last week that "Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Allows Antifa to Thrive."
Wheeler will not pushback against Antifa. One way is to propose and pass an ordinance banning face-covering, anything that can be a weapon and body armor; however, he does nothing.
Wheeler has a history of telling officers not to intervene. In June of 2018, the Immigration and Custom Enforcement offices in Portland were surrounded by protestors who were upset that immigration laws were being enforced.
That looks an awful lot like tacit approval for intolerant street thuggery, from a mayor who looks like the whitest white guy ever to suffer from melanin deficiency. Or as Ford also wondered, "I think it’s time we ask if this organization is fostering white supremacy at a systemic level."
I'll go a step further.
When you're an organized mob of violent, black-shirted white people committing street-level socialism, you're doing anti-fascism wrong.
In fact, you might just be the fascists.
