Citing the president of my alma mater, Larry Arnn, and Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) as examples of true conservatism, the executive director of the American Conservative Union, Dan Schneider, condemned the alt-right movement. He made this comparison to real conservative leaders and said, “The alt-right ain’t right at all.” And he also denounced them by saying, “They are anti-Semites, they are racists, they are sexists.” Even while the preeminent leader of the alt-right movement, Richard Spencer, was in the house, this was the bold statement that Schneider delivered. I believe these are the kinds of things that need to be said about the alt-right. We must distance ourselves from the hate speech, and refocus on our actual ideals and policies.
