Poll: Old WASP Joe Biden Firmly in the Lead With 31 Percent
Although former Vice President Joe Biden has had a terrible, no good week, he's still far ahead in the polls. That is, at least, if Morning Consult is to be believed.
This group daily surveys the preferences of "5,000 registered voters across the United States on the 2020 presidential election." In the period between July 1 - 7, 16,599 survey interviews were completed about the state of the Democratic race.
Among Democratic primary voters, former Vice President Joe Biden continues to hold a commanding lead. If the primaries were today, he would get at least 31% of the votes. Bernie Sanders, the socialist Senator, is in second place with 19%. He, in turn, is followed by Senator Kamala Harris with 14%.
What's most remarkable about these results is the simple fact that two angry white old men are in the lead. Democrats may talk the talk about "diversity," but they're certainly not walking the walk. Oh yes, back in 2008 it ended up in a race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, but now, in 2019, they're opting for the old-fashioned option: WASPs. And elderly ones at that.
Now, I don't have a problem with that -- after all, it's about the skills, not the color of one's skin or one's gender -- but if Democrats are to be believed, they do care tremendously about such things. You'd almost think that their intersectional politics are merely theater.
Could it be?
In any case, this is very good news for President Trump. If voters have to choose between two angry old white men, they'll always opt for the original, rather than for a weak imitation.
