Burn: Joe Biden Says He Would Add Elizabeth Warren to His VP List

In what will undoubtedly come as a surprise to Senator Elizabeth Warren, former Vice President Joe Biden told a reporter recently that he would seriously consider adding her to his list of possible vice presidents if he wins the Democratic presidential nomination.

"I'd add Senator Warren to the list," Biden said in an "Axios on HBO" interview that was aired on Sunday. However, "the question is," he went on to say, "would she add me... to her list. You know?"

"The issue for me will be, if I'm fortunate enough to be the nominee, is who am I most comfortable with, that I'm confident that if I turn over responsibility, I'm not going to be surprised," Biden explained.

In other words, according to Biden, if Warren would take over, he would not be surprised and she could be trusted.

But, wait a minute? Why wouldn't Democrats nominate her directly then? Generally, nominees talk about their running mate adding something of value to the ticket in their role as VP. Instead, Biden talks about why Warren would be a great president if something were to happen to him.

Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time that Biden said he'd add a (former) rival to his VP list. Earlier, he said the exact same thing about Kamala Harris. "She is capable of being president or vice president or on the Supreme Court or attorney general. Her capacity is unlimited," he said about Harris.

In other words, Biden wants to let everybody know that he's considering every other (former) candidate to become his running mate -- if he does indeed end up winning. That way, he undoubtedly hopes that all those candidates' supporters accept him or may even jump ship and join his campaign before their own favorite candidate drops out.

Yep, Sleepy Joe wants to have his cake and eat it too.

In any case, it's all good news for Elizabeth Warren, of course. If she doesn't win the nomination, she may very well still become the first Native American running mate in history!
