NARAL 'What's Pro-Life About' Abortion Tweetstorm Fails Spectacularly

NARAL Pro-Choice America, once known as the National Abortion Rights Action League, launched a Twitter campaign against the Republican health care bill, using the hashtag #WhatsProLifeAbout. But actual pro-life users coopted the tag to brilliant effect.

“Join us from 12-1PM tomorrow for a tweetstorm to call out the GOP’s ‘pro-life’ hypocrisy, asking them #WhatsProLifeAbout #Trumpcare?” NARAL tweeted Thursday, announcing the Twitter campaign.

Many personalities played the game, of course. Sandra Fluke asked, “What’s pro-life about defunding Planned Parenthood which provides crucial lifesaving care to millions every year?”

Liberal commentator Sally Kohn asked “What’s pro-life about ending Medicaid expansion, which helps low-income people access health insurance?”

But pro-life activists actually answered the question.

What’s pro-life about? “Human rights for all human beings, without regard to age, size, location, dependence, or ‘wantedness.’ And helping moms!” the Secular Pro-Life account declared.

“Truth: Abortion hurts the mother and kills the child,” the Family Research Council (FRC) declared.

“All innocent human life is precious and a gift from God. It’s important that civilized societies defend the vulnerable,” tweeted conservative Catholic professor Michael New.

“Pro-life is pro-woman,” declared March for Life President Jeanne Mancini.

The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List tweeted a list of things the movement is about: “human rights for all humans, don’t discriminate on age, adoption > abortion, and women deserve better.”

SBA List also drew attention to the demographics of the pro-life movement. The group quoted from Nancy Keenan, a former NARAL president, who said of the March for Life, “There are so many of them, and they are so young!”

Some attacked the hypocrisy of a pro-abortion organization claiming to support life. “I’m sorry… is NARAL really pretending they care about life when they support nearly 1M abortions in the US each year?” asked One America News Network (OANN) host Liz Wheeler.

Naturally, SBA List also mentioned the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) videos which showed Planned Parenthood officials mentioning the sale of baby body parts, allegedly for profit.

NARAL may have launched the #WhatsProLifeAbout hashtag to attack the Republican health care bill, but it was the pro-life movement which answered the question. With this attack on the Republican bill, NARAL actually gave a platform to the pro-life movement.
