Grassroots Effort Underway to Withhold Sex From Trump Supporters

A married couple in Ohio have launched a new website called “Vote Trump, Get Dumped” which calls on activists to withhold sex from those who support Donald Trump. The couple compared the importance of stopping Trump to previous movements in which women abstained from sex in order to force their husbands to achieve some social goal.

“To cast a vote for Trump is to agree with his sexist, perverted, demeaning, backwards, offensive treatment of women,” the website declares. Its motto is “Those Who Vote Trump Should Understand This: No Sex. No Dates. No Chance.”

In a statement to PJ Media, website founder and anxious wife Chandler Smith explained the effectiveness of this sexual protest:

This has a proven history of getting men’s attention when our intellectual, moral, and philosophical pleas fall on deaf (or dumb) ears. If [the website and petition] do well, Donald Trump will not be a candidate for president of the United States. Then we will go back to our normal, sexually active lives in the land by the people, for the people, and of the people.

The website references history, saying: “The Greeks did it. Women during the temperance movement did it. This is a tried and true method of getting men’s attention when they’re being dumb.”

The Greek reference is to Aristophanes’ play Lysistrata, where the women go on a “sex strike” to convince men to make peace during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. There was a brief period of peace during the war, but it came before this fictional portrayal. In the 1840s, women in the United States pledged not to marry or have sex with men who drank. This movement failed, but a similar one succeeded in the passage of the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which outlawed alcohol across the nation in 1920. It was repealed in 1933.

When asked if the group supports any one particular presidential candidate against Trump, Smith told PJ Media, “We are a group of Republicans, Democrats, and Libertarians who have found one thing to agree on.”

Among this group, “the Republicans are concerned that Trump’s long record of sexism won’t stand up in the general election against Hillary Clinton,” while “the Democrats are concerned that in the rare chance that Trump became our president, that it would send our culture back a century when it comes to respecting mothers, daughters, and wives.”

The #VoteTrumpGetDumped petition has found 148 signers since it started four days ago. No word on how many Trump voters are suffering with the consequences.
