Obama Says Global Climate Conference in Paris Will Be 'a Powerful Rebuke to the Terrorists'

After an Oval Office meeting with French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday, President Obama said that ISIL poses a serious threat to all of us.

“It cannot be tolerated and must be destroyed and we must do it together,” he said during a joint press conference with  Hollande.

Obama said that he and the French president agreed the nations in the “U.S.-led coalition” must do more together to fight the Islamic State, and he suggested one way of doing so.

“Next week, I will be joining President Hollande and world leaders in Paris for the global climate conference. What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children,” he said.

As The Federalist’s Sean Davis notes, Obama and his top lieutenants have a history of conflating climate change with terrorism.

 In April, the two-term Democratic president said a changing climate, a dynamic which has existed since the earth’s creation, posed a far greater threat than terrorism.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry echoed Obama’s comments just days before the devastating terrorist attacks in Paris in a speech about how climate change represents a dire threat to American national security. Kerry did not mention ISIS a single time in his speech.
