Biden Admits 'Screwing Up' the Abortifacient Mandate

Regime sends out top Catholic official to walk back a bad policy that he opposed in the first place:

“The conscience clause is being honored in its literal sense. What is happening now is that we have been able to provide what was hard to set up — it got screwed up in the first iteration — is that any hospital, no matter where it is, no matter who runs it, profit or non profit, religious based or otherwise, has to provide insurance to their employees like everybody else does.”

There’s much sleight of hand going on here. The conscience clause isn’t being honored; Biden et al are being dishonest. The mandate isn’t to provide insurance, but a specific service to which millions object for reasons of conscience. The mandate violates their consciences. The “accommodation” didn’t change anything, it just put the cost to comply with the conscience-violating mandate under a different shell, while the dollars ultimately come from the same place. The groups subject to the mandate weren’t consulted about the “accommodation,” while Democrat stakeholders like Planned Parenthood were not only consulted, they were brought into the White House’s PR effort to help sell it. The mandate itself is unacceptable both for its violation of the right of conscience, and for its overreach into the activities and services provided by private corporations and religious groups. The regime justifies this overreach by claiming ObamaCare allows them to do it, but that power was not explicitly granted in the law. The law was passed on partisan lines, without our representatives even being allowed to read it before it being asked to vote on it. A majority of Americans opposed its passage at the time, and opposes it now. The consent of the governed was not sought, and each day that law stands, the consent of the governed is being violated.
