Apparently, the PAC-3 works a lot better than the old Patriot system from ’91:
A British military spokesman, Lt. Col. Ronnie McCourt, confirmed three missiles were fired by the Iraqis into Kuwait, including one Scud that was intercepted by a Patriot. Col. Youssef al-Mullah, spokesman for the Kuwaiti military, said four missiles were fired at Kuwait.
I’ve heard other reports that two of the SCUDs were knocked down by PAC-3s.
On the other hand, we were told at the time that the Patriot scored kill after kill, when in fact they hardly stopped any missiles at all. Time will tell.
